    Dear Paul, your photos and description of street photography are heartwarming! I can empathize with this very well: with a camera in our hands when we're out on the streets, things around us are happening more visibly. Added to this is the creative peace of mind that arises. Being on the move with attention and mindfulness allows us to understand the world of everyday things as something special. And as things unfold before our senses, we evolve in that process. I have to admit, it would be tempting to do street photography with you and sit in a cafe or pub and talk about what's going on. Maybe sometime... ;-)) Best regards, Dirk

    I’ve was very fortunate to do Paul’s Street photography workshop in London recently. I learnt so much, especially from the insight he gave into street portraits, in fact the next day I did a local street party, and the majority of images were street portraits … I loved taking them so much and the feedback was overwhelming. In fact I’ve been invited to two weddings and a christening, (sounds like a poor remake!), to do some walk about candids … In short, if you get the opportunity, I highly recommend you do his workshop! Thanks again Paul 😊 📷

    • @paulreidphotography
      @paulreidphotography  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks so much!! I really appreciate it. It’s hard for me to explain my processing although to me it’s far from complex. As part of my workshops I do an hour on editing photos. It’s an approach more than some amazing technical skills. One of the things I usually try for is strong blacks and whites.

    Paul, love your B&W shots. Question … I have a non-monochrome Q2. I love shooting B&W street. Do you think it’s best that I shoot in color and then convert to B&W in NIK or Lightroom … or just set the camera to monochrome to begin with? Which approach will give me the best options for getting the best B&W results? Thank you for all your fantastic videos. I am in the U.S.

    Sadly, I don’t have the money for a monochrome camera so have to put up with converting to black and white. I have seen a fair few stunning images from photographers who convert to b&w though, although I understand the huge benefits to low light shooting and noise with a monochrome sensor.

    Your images are stunning and compelling at the same time. I kept stopping the video because they were drawing me in, saying, 'Stop. Linger longer. Take a closer look." That, to me, is a strong indication of powerful photography. I must ask, what is your approach in street photography when shooting individuals. There's the Woman Sitting on the Stairs Smoking or the Long-haired Man with a Purse Dressed in Black Reclining on His Arm as two excellent examples. How do you approach them? As you mentioned, I'd be too timid to ask or afraid they'd "pose" for me. What's your trick? Thanks for sharing your work and your thoughts!

    • @paulreidphotography
      @paulreidphotography  4 месяца назад

      Some of those actually look posed but they’re not. One of my favourite things is when someone notices me taking their photo and look directly at me. That’s when I press the shutter!

    Another good episode Paul, you be careful the Genre Police don't chase you lol. I do streetish then they can't argue. It shows a lack of creativity when people try to put you in a Box. Just like format, it has to be 6x4 4x3 16x9 etc, it's like they have never heard of a decimal point.
