IT WAS GUSTING AROUND 20 MPH + BUT IT DIDNT BOTHER THE CORSAIR OR DEANO AS IT SEEMS HE ALWAYS TEST FLIES OTHER PEOPLES MODELS IN STRONG WINDS !
HE DID A STALL TEST WITH THE FLAPS UP AND DOWN AND AS YOU CAN SEE THE STALL WAS NOT VICIOUS AT ALL ON EITHER TEST,
OH YES THE WHITE FOAM ON THE MAIN WHEELS WAS SPRAYED ON BY LEE, ITS DESIGNED TO KEEP DIRT OFF AND OUR FIELD IS COVERED IN WORM CASTS SO IT SEEMED A GOOD IDEA, TURNED OUT IT WORKS WELL,
AT THE END OF THE VIDEO YOU CAN SEE LEE ATTACHING THE DROP TANKS ONTO THE PYLONS ON THE WING, THESE FOUR ITEMS HAVE TO BE PURCHASED FROM HORIZON HOBBY SEPARATELY FROM THE KIT, (NOT SUPPLIED)
DEANO DIDN'T FLY HER WITH THEM ON THIS TIME IN CASE ANY PROBLEMS AROSE DURING THE TEST FLIGHTS,
ALSO YOU MAY NOTICE THE MAIN WHEELS ARE COVERED IN WHITE FOAM LEE SPRAYED THEM IN THE HOPE THE MUD FROM THE WORM CASTS ON OUR FIELD WOULD NOT STICK TO THEM AND CLOG UP THE WHEEL WELLS ! SEEMED TO WORK AS WELL !
LEE HAS POWERED HER WITH THE 3 CYLINDER RADIAL PETROL SAITO FG 84cc R3 FOURSTROKE ENGINE,
SHE HAS THE KELEO COLLECTOR RING EXHAUST FITTED,
ALSO A KELEO ENGINE BOX FITTED,
RETRACTS ARE ROBART MAINS AND WHEELS AND HANGAR 9 RETRACTING TAIL WHEEL ASSEMBLY WITH ROBART ACTUATOR TWIN AIR TANKS WITH ROBART CONTROL VALVE,
SHE IS FITTED WITH FUTABA s3050 SERVOS AND FUTABA r6014hs RECEIVER,
A POWERBOX SENSOR SWITCH AND START SWITCH ARE ALSO FITTED,
NO GYRO IS FITTED TO THIS MODEL,
LEE HAD THE C OF G BANG ON AND DEANO ONLY HAD TO APPLY ONE CLICK OF UP TRIM,
WHEN FULL FLAPS WERE DROPPED THERE WAS NO PITCH CHANGE AT ALL !
DEANO FLEW ON 3/4 THROTTLE MOST OF THE TIME AS SHE WAS RUNNING RICH AND HE SAID SHE HAD BAGS OF POWER AT THAT SETTING SO WHEN SHES LEANED OUT SHE`LL CERTAINLY MOVE,

Congratulations on this wonderful model. Just wondering, how many servos actuate those flaps? There seems to be a total of 6 moving sections, are they all driven by individual servos or linked mechanically with fewer servos? Also, some radios allow you to use flap sections as if they were part of the ailerons if they have separate actuators, do you do this here?

This was my most nervous maiden flight plane. Then once I had it in the air it’s a beauty. Extremely good flight envelope. Awesome approach angles with tip so long as you’re flying it and not gliding it! Also for its size it’s a quick set up at the field. No stand needed. What size prop was being used here? Also curious about the gear doors. I did mine but lost one so I re did them to gear pockets.

The corsair is great but I have a question about your starter... Where did you get the larger starter cone for your dynatron? Sullivan seem to do one that is crazy expensive and not readily available in UK either. The dynatron would be a great starter but for the little starter cone which is way too small for the sorts of models this starter could otherwise handle.

Not sure if it is to make it look scale, regardless, the white big arrows breaks the nice contour curved lines of the plane. Its way too much white, maybe smaller arrows next time, that sexy navy blue its whats all about.

    Guys, Love your videos.
So now that you have tried the 84cc radial and the 57cc twin
    In the Hanger Nine Corsair
Whats your thoughts on both engines.
It looks like no cutting of the cowl was done
for the 84cc Saito. I have the same plane and im on the fence for my engine choice.
I was even thinking about the FG 60R3 Saito. I know you had some trouble with that engine, I have that engine and its going in my Top Flite Razorback.
I wonder if the FG60R3 will be a bit under powered for the Corsair. It calls for a 60CC
I would like to hear your thoughts.
Thanks and keep up the Great vids.

    • @tbobborap1
      @tbobborap1  8 лет назад

      Hi Knockoffs
As for the two engine comparison, I would say the 82 Saito beats the 57 twin by miles ! The twin seemed underpowered to me and had to fly it on full power all the time just to fly it about !
With out a doubt the Saito 82 is the best engine choice !
I personally think the fg 60 will be marginal on power !
You will love the way the corsair flys, I haven't got a bad word for it, apart from the classic corsair fish tail ! Lol
The 84 Saito provided lots of power and I didn't have to worry about using the momentum of the model to fly it around as the 84 fly it really well !
      I hope this helps
      Regards dean

Thank you for the quick answers.
Im 99 percent on board with the Saito 84cc. It looks like you were able to get the engine in without any cutting of the cowl, ???
Also i will be using the Keleo Muffler.
Was there anything special you did to mount the engine. Mount type ???
      Standoffs ??? wood blocking.
I fit my FG60r3 in my Top Flite Razorback
with the long horizon standoffs, And fit perfect without cutting the cowl.
I was hoping to do the same with this bird.
      Thanks Again

I always notice the flaps on your guys planes. You should be using better servos, with a delay set to them so they move down smoothly. You create less pitch change, looks more scale, and is less jarring on servos and the flap hinges themselves to not force them down and snap into position quickly. Just a tip! Otherwise pretty cool.
Did you guys eliminate the right thrust when mounting the engine to get it to fit the cowl without hacking it up?

I wouldn't call a JR DS8911 25kg cheap that's what's on the flaps, plus it a model not the real thing, the saito fitted straight in with no trouble and has aprox 2mm clearance on the cowl all the way round.

+Dawn Kelso not cheap servos for sure. They seem jerky. They work better setting them up slow, and takes literally 2 minutes tops to set the servo delay in the settings. Try it, seriously - works well :) Interesting with the 84 fitting stock no issues. A lot of guys are reporting it doesn't and are buying the Keleo firewall adaptor for the engine to help it fit properly.

looks unstable. I wonder if the CG is to far aft? Does look and sound good. I would have like to seen a 3 blade prop on it.

The real corsair this model is based on only runs a 3 blade prop so wouldn't be scale with a 4 blade.
