Read the biographies of both Bartok and Kodaly, they collected Folktunes in the countries of: Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Serbia, and to Turkish and Arabic countries. The largest collection ever made from that area.
Vidím krajinu Tanssylvánských Alp, zapadlé horské vísky, s kouzelnou lidovou architekturou, kde se čas skutečně zastavil. Nevnímám rozdíly - Maďaři/Rumuni - je to všechno jeden oblouk Bartókovy hudby, ze stejného podhoubí národních písní, které mají krásné oba národy. Dokázal do toho skloubit jak zadumanost odlehlých údolí a horských masivů, tak taneční styl lidí, kteří se po těžké práci uměli veselit a nacházet krásné všední malé radosti. Poslední část to je rej - kdo už ho dnes opravdu zažil? Děkuji za nahrávku, miluji Bartóka. Ve všech podobách. Zdravím z Česka - oblasti kolem Rakovníka.

Our both nations went through a lot of bad history, such as communism, we are 2 countries left behind evolution wise. Our problem shouldn't be ourselves but the idiotic politicians that are making us go through some hard times. I wish we could see a Romanian band that was as open to Hungarian folk music as it was open for approx. 100 years ago Béla Bartók! Unfortunately, I don't know of any Romanian musicians who have ever played Hungarian folk music.
You can find them, especially from Transilvania. Including folk music, or re-intepretations in different styles. I personally enjoy the band Dirty Shirt: check out Nem Loptam, for example.

I actually shed tears the first time I heard the fourth movement. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be somber, but it's very beautiful. Loved the ensemble in the fifth and sixth movements, and an amazing rendition overall.

Wonderful. Being from Transylvania, this made me cry. It reminded me of the music of Efta Botoca, Alexandru Titrus or Dumitru Farcas. Bela Bartok really captured the soul of this music and this orchestra expressed it wonderfully. It shows that true music sees no borders. Thank you!
Gabriella Takacs Transylvania was part of Hungary, but this was just a geographic mark, the traditions are much older than that, they are about the local culture. Bartok had hungarian citizenship, but he named this piece Romanian Danses and I think that was for a reason.

Romanians should be proud that their soul is so greatly played by so many great artists in the world and hungarians should be proud that a hungarian managed to arrange these folk songs into a masterpiece that is respected by every great artist in this world. Béla Bartók was born in Transylvania. As a romanian from Transylvania I love him so much! I went to his grave in Budapest.

Romanians should be proud that their soul is so greatly played by so many great artists in the world and hungarians should be proud that a hungarian managed to arrange these folk songs into a masterpiece that is respected by every great artist in this world. It's a place in World Culture which was earned by these two great nations because their greatest minds that they offered to the world!
