Im just now catching up on your videos. That was an AWESOME job. electrical isn't my strong suit but you doing in one handed makes it look super easy!! Very cool video!!
@@AZExpert I bet you didn't get a lot of sleep during that job. I am assuming the job was done over a few days? That was defiantly scary, I am sure. Those invertors were VERY expensive.
I THINK YOU DID A GREAT JOB. I HAVE 2009 COCHMAN SPORTSMAN. ITS FORTY FOOT. I AM VERY NEW TO A BIG COACH LIKE THIS BUT I WATCH YOU AND YOU ARE A GREAT TEACHER. ITS A SHAME YOUR BUSINESS IS NOT IN MY STATE YOU WOULD GET A LOT OF MONEY OFF OF ME.
Man I actually did a Laugh Out Loud when you mentioned being scared to "Fleep D Sweetch" because I've been in that same spot many times! If you ain't scared, you've become complacent and that's what kills people. You did an jam-up job! The things that I always watch for is Sparks, Smoke and Smell...One time I was setting up a solar panel setup on my brother-in-law's ClassA and at the exact time I made all the connections LIVE, one of the jackass's that worked for him put something in the shop microwave and it had a foil lined wrapper which of course started sparking and making all the noises you don't want to hear at that time in particular. I jumped all over that dude like he just ran over my dog and he supposedly had no idea I was there ( I was supposed to be all alone). That's my kind of luck though! LoL
I worked at the local power company for 21 years and can sympathize with the stress of performing the smoke test at the end of the job. Nice job James!
Brother, you are a very talented man! The installation looks great and it will probably last for a long time. I've heard from others about how hard these things are to program, but they are really supposed to be some of the best around. Great job James! You are the man!
James I sincerely hope you make AT LEAST $150 an hour... your broad ability to troubleshoot, fabricate, create solutions and solve problems is valuable.
That's an incredible amount of power ! You did all of that with one hand lol ! 😆 Your patience and knowledge always seems to pay off ! Thx for sharing. Scott
Nice install. You need to setup the AC input setting on the Cerbo GX in order to show the AC input on the display. The inverters are also in storage mode. That will need to be turned off using the MK3 or the charger will only charge the batteries to 80%. Victron converters come in storage mode by default. I’d also check and make sure that “switch as group” is disabled or they will not have any AC power at all when connected to 30 amp power.
Nice work James, as always! Love your videos! Give yourself more credit. I haven't seen anything that you haven't been able to master yet. Thank you for sharing you time with us. We all learn so much from you. Keep safe and will look forward for your next adventure. Regards, Myk
Have more confidence in yourself you're a very smart man I'm a little older than you I've been an auto mechanic and a diesel mechanic for the last 35 years I got trust in you you are a very wise man 👍
nice job lots of custom design with laying around parts. When you accomplish and defeat a job like this. You have that feeling of " yea man I whopped this one" James your the man !
You definitely have your Crap together in a Ditty Bag with no leaks. Just think all this practice now let’s see what that camp trailer is going to look like out there on the property. A large PV array well pump and a massive sound system that could be heard back in Phoenix. 😁😁😁😂👍💪🏻
Great job James. You are a genius. My 06 450 Lxi Wanderlodge had 2 Magnum 4500's installed in 2018 prior to my purchase. This is the only bus that I have seen with 2-5000 watt units. I've been out inverted.
Always in awe James. I have an 06 CC Magna with the 3K Xantrex that I pray will last as long as I have the coach. As I'm sure you know it's stuffed in the electronics bay inside the basement. Definitely something someone thinner and more agile than me has to replace!
So the complaints about the terminals you should never have tools inside the inverter when it is energized. Only test equipment. You are inside of a Arc flash boundary and should treat it as such
The other input on the home screen is for other charging points, generator or solar systems. The lug connection system is the standard in Europe where Victrons head office is located.
They might be a pain to program but I would much rather have victron setup then the volta system I have since it's all locked down and only techs can get into it.
Keep in mind that a 5000 Victron is NOT a 5000 watt sadly, they use a different rating, not true watts... example, the 3000 Multiplus is closer to 2500 WATTS, it's VA they use.
Generators sometimes play the VA vs watts game also. And if your ratio of 5/6 applies to this Victron setup, you can note that 5/6 x 10,000 is 8333 watts. So a better match to the 8000 original, than 10,000 would be.
James, Excellent job! Very well done. The system is 120/240 volt single phase. Nothing more needs to be said about it. When the screen was showing L1 and L2 watts and combined watts, you take the combined number/240 and the L/120 to get amps. I’m not sure what scares you about AC, but you did pretty well! Only thing I saw that wasn’t quite right was the Romex connector on the FNT at the 50amp box with breaker. Thanks for the video! Very respectfully, Kevin BTW. This one got into some of my professional world (kind of)!
Did everything work out OK with cooling? I love victron gear, but all the cooling is designed to be mounted upright. I also have my victron multiplus on its back like this (Just a little 3000) and the only problem I ever has was temperature related - Its under my couch and I ended up installing a temperature controlled fan on the front of the couch. Works great now.
I think that looks very good and like it was always part of the Coach. Didn't see you testing the Gen Set with your new set up but I'm sure you did. Overall an amazing job very well executed as always James, thanks for showing it...
Ship it to me. I'm not joking. I have a 5KW Quatro (48 volts) in my coach. It's awesome. 2 wow. Those Quatro's can really draw in charge. I had to throttle mine way back. Red should be generator. I use the app to do most of my adjustments. You can turn them on off, switch modes from the app.
I've had a lot of luck using Master volt mass combi sine wave ,24 volt 4000 watt inverters on large yachts, putt ing 2 together for upwards of 8000, watts.
Shall we start a pool on how long it takes for the scowl on his face to be gone? Geez Louise...I was a mineman in the navy..I built, maintained and disassembled various types of under water mines..I have seen that cringe before..job well done brother !
James, you’re showing off now. 😊 I have to admit, roofs must be boring and way too easy for you. I’m starting to see you in a different light. 🤙🏼 Keep up the good work.
Well done. Having spent July in Quartzsite myself, I'd just consider one more thing. Namely, the storage temp range and operating temp range of the Victrons, and maybe adding temp sensors in that bay and inside the inverters. I know that some Victron charge controllers already provide for temp sensor inputs, for purposes such as controlling battery heaters or doing hi/lo temp charging cutoff. I have no idea whether these inverters or their display have that same provision, of if you'd need a separate device. Now that people have cheap stand-alone WiFi or BlueTooth thermometers in their little 12V compressor fridges or monitoring RV air temp for their pets while they grocery shop, it might be nice to do so for this critical system, even if it needs to be cobbled to a different display or only accessible via an app on their phone.
You would be surprised how much the Victron systems are becoming the industry standard if you have a question or a stopping point give Dave at AM solar a call he's in Oregon great crew and Victron is their primary go to great products. It should be a game changer for the owner. You got this James now talk them into a lithium battery bank.

They might be a pain to program but I would much rather have victron setup then the volta system I have since it's all locked down and only techs can get into it.
Go with smaller lithium batteries which will save room for double 4000w units.

This is one of the reasons that I wouldn't buy a coach older then 9-10 yrs old. But hey to each there own.

Moral of story..if you buy an older RV...try to find a inverter of the same model before you need it
Better moral dont buy one
There is definitely a market for new old stock
