In Mark's playing it is the subtile stuff, that makes the difference. Most players - even good ones - do it "just about right" and in the end it lacks the Knopfler-Magic. Your video is the great exception, you cover even the tiny little things. Thanks for your astonishing accurate work, man!
I've been watching and learning from your videos for years now, and as others here have said, you are an incredibly talented player, with a patient, humble approach, but I'll go one step further . . . you are the single finest guitar instructor that I have personally encountered on ALL of RUclips! So once again, from the heart, thank you Pavel. 👊
Thank you brother, it is such a wonderful homework from your side and perfect. You didn't expect anything in return, that is another beauty of your personality, especially in a universe where we live in to make monetary gain only. May God bless you !
Here I make it you are a legend hope to see you live really thankful for have a great teacher for those who want to keep the thumb knopfler and atkins you are legend you will make it
You're an amazing disciple of Knopfler. Major admiration for the fingerstyle work - you even hit the subtle percussive muted strings that make it authentically Knopfler. I think many people have already made this same comment.
Checking-in again with you, after more than 6-years . . . Greetings, Pavel! You are a masterful player and a truly outstanding instructor of guitar. I have learned so-so much from you and your various tutorials over the years, and I'm beyond "grateful". In your fingers, you have all of the magic of MK himself, and if I'm not mistaken, I believe you've even helped me in the past with songs by artists other than Mark Knopfler. Anyway, all the best to you, and please, keep bringing-us your many great works of art!
What's really great is that you really looked into this style and practiced all the little subtleties and 'hidden magic' that mark uses to make his music brilliant.
The problem, Pavel, is that the 'basic' Travis picking ability is very difficult to acquire. Acquiring thumb independence is a holy grail. A video on this from you would be great

Were you able to pick this finger style? It’s ver trick!
Pavel- thank you, sir! Your playing is obviously incredible and you have helped me immensely. However, it is your passion and enthusiasm for music that really is awesome!
Thank you Jeremy! I'm sorry for a late reply, but anyway, I got it and will continue to deliver.

The picking pattern is amazing. After one week of practising, I think I got it down pretty well, but still needs focusing. Thank you so much! Looking forward for more videos from you man!
hello Pavel. as has been stated before, your videos are the best I've seen. I really like the Mark Knopfler style but, your right hand patterns you demonstrate translate so well to other artists. Thanks again for all you are doing.
thank you so much for all your videos, Pavel 🙏 this is one of my most fave songs from Knopfler and you're really helping me achieve my dream of playing it :') thank you again
Great tutorial, you make it look effortless. I'm plugging away at this in Corona quarantine along with another travis picking tune Going to California by LedZep. This is more difficult and is taking longer than I'm used to just because it's a new technique for me. I'll post a cover when it's ready!
Thanx a lot for the lesson, I've learned exactly how you teach it and it sounds great, and very fun to execute the tecnic. Just a culture comment: I'm from the north of Argentina, limit to Paraguay and it's a beautiful countrie, and the part when Mark intones "Paraguayyyyyyy" its a common type of shout in Guaraní culture called "Sapucai" (Guaraní was and is native culture from the amazonas to the river Paraguay, river Paraná, flows down to the River Plate in Argentinian sea). I can see that Mark confused Guaraní culture with Andes culture (Quechua language and music from Andes Mountain Range where the Inca empire was) "El condor pasa" - Inca/Andes culture. I think its a beautiful mistake cause it souds great mixed up. I hope that its clear what i wrote. Greetings!
I'm definitely making progress thanks to this video! Must have watched it 50 times now. I just can't figure out the mute at 0X22. Is this achieved with left (neck) or right (picking) hand?
Okay. I’m back. Sorry it took so long. I rediscovered my reminder today. All muting is in the left hand when I play it. My right hand stays above the strings with no pinky anchor as is common in MK songs like “Boom, like that.”
First you hit 4th string with an index finger, then you hit it with the thumb while blocking it with the left hand at the same time. In the song you do it two times between 2 and 4 positions, something like that.
@@PavelFomenkov Thanks Pavel. I think I've got it from watching your right hand and slowing it down. The only problem is that I use fingernails so the muted notes sound very quiet in comparison.
Просто замечательное видео and in my parents language, Polish "Po prostu wspaniałe wideo"! First time seeing your site. My 2 sons have temporarily moved back in with me and my wife and the 3 of us will definitely follow your lead. Any chance you could do the bass part so we could do a trio and round out the sound with a light drum beat in the background? Loved it and will watch more.
Great, Pavel! Very acurate and of course correct! It is very interesting for me to compare it to "my version" of the song, (also here on youtube) which is more oriented to the studio recording. I practiced half a year...
Hi pavel! I just finish to learn this song! I wanted to ask you something! I'm in love with a particular version of this song! Postcards from paraguay live avo session 11.2007 ! And i want to know where i can find a tablature or a video with ALL the licks that mark plays in that live version! Thank you ciao
Hi! I saw the performance, not all the video, but i ask if in the tutorial you teach all the song, because in the first two minutes you play only a part of this, not all the licks. Thank you!
Pavel Fomenkov Sorry, i want to ask another question. The patreon on what consists? In other words.. I want to know: if i give you 1$, you give me a lesson? Of what song, specifically? And also, there's a difference between that lesson and those on your channel? Bye!
Kudos to you, Pavel! Fabulous playing and a truly authentic MK sound. As I've posted elsewhere here on RUclips, I wish that I would have purchased one of these MK signature Strats back when they were still available here in North America, but I remember questioning whether the so-called 'Texas Special' pickups were truly the pickups that Fender installed on that model, and I remain a bit skeptical to this day. Your guitar sounds absolutely awe-some, but the Texas Specials were an uber-HOT set of pickups that just weren't (and aren't) known for a crisp, clear vintage tone like this. So I'm curious . . . is your guitar and its pickups stock?
Hi Pavel. Great tutorial, as usual! Could you also teach us some early straits' stuff, please?? Or golden heart? : ) By the way, thank you for all your works here on youtube, keep on knopflering. Bye, Marco
Hi Marco! I will do DS of course, it just so happens I love to discuss solo songs more. I don't have a list of songs at all, just pick the ones I love and feel it's the right time to do them. Luckily I love them all! Thank you.

о, прикольно. Видел тебя в 21 школе)Здорово, что есть те, кто еще в Дзержинске ценят хорошую музыку))
What's really great is that you really looked into this style and practiced all the little subtleties and 'hidden magic' that mark uses to make his music brilliant.
Thanks SO MUCH, for this. We can not pay it enough with words or even money. Really thanks.
Hi Pavel! You are great! Yours videos are always very much aprecieted! Thanks for your all! Best wishes from Brazil!

Sei molto bravo.Era da tempo che cercavo qulacuno che riproducesse le poesie del mitico Mark, Ancora complimenti
This is one of the most fun songs I have learned. A bit of a stretch for me but getting there. Thank you for this awesome lesson.

Thanks a lot for all the mark knopfler videos!

Superb video. Does anyone know the name of the Chet Atkins tune 2:50 mins in?
I should know that 😃 It's "Baby's Coming Home" by Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed.

Hi Pavel, this song will help me with the chicken pickin, it is not easy for me. I saw some tabs but did not see a link. Can you please tell me, Thx
Hi Lee! All the links are in the description of the video and seems to work fine!
Great! I've got it! Greetings!
Thank you!
I'm definitely making progress thanks to this video! Must have watched it 50 times now. I just can't figure out the mute at 0X22. Is this achieved with left (neck) or right (picking) hand?
When I get there and find out, I will tell you.
Okay. I’m back. Sorry it took so long. I rediscovered my reminder today.
All muting is in the left hand when I play it. My right hand stays above the strings with no pinky anchor as is common in MK songs like “Boom, like that.”
I'm being very slow here but I don't know how to do the muted 4th strings at about 6:00. Can someone explain it to me. Thanks.

Pavel Fomenkov THANK SO MUCH, tomorrow i'll begin to learn it!
One day we will see also a tutorial of love over gold? Keep it up
A great suggestion! I love the harmony of this song, definitely will put this one in the list of future videos. Good luck with Postcards! Great song.
Pavel Fomenkov good luck to you...
