I think everyone wishes they could click their fingers and have a whole set of bookshelves appear magically, but this behind the scenes video to show how hard you and Romeo worked is greatly appreciated. I wait in anticipation for every single video you put out and I am never disappointed you simply amaze me and McCenna. I have to agree with the closed in bookshelves though, very Victorian and that’s the whole vibe of your house it’s like Victorian Cottage Chic I guess for a want of a better name. 😅

Originally, I had thought that I liked the floating shelves look best. But listening to your thinking process and your reason for your choices. It started making really good sense especially with that top crown molding and I agreed. Oh my gosh she’s so right. Well yesterday I saw the completed look and oh yeah girl. Hey trust yourself you always know what’s right in the end and as always it’s you you and Romeo that you need to please not us, but he did a great job Lol😍

I 100% agree with a more built in look using the extra trim around the edges. It just fits better with the rest of the house, and if you use the same paint colour on the walls down each side of the bookcases you will not need to add any board there as the paint will make it look like it's all one structure, so you get the effect with the least price tag! I'm absolutely loving how the living room is coming together, it's honestly my dream to have a home with the ceiling height and big windows that can take all that beautiful trim work you have. You constantly amaze me with how you just get on and learn each new skill set as you need it to build your home, no fuss. You are truly inspiring! Looking forward to the tree decorating sooo much!
I used a shower cap when I did the ceiling. Added light coat of baby oil to my face.

I would not of thought putting trim down the sides would make such a difference but it did, and it looks better like you said it go's with the style of the cottage
I think you are right about making the shelves look more built-in that floating, based on the style of your home.
Wow, do you ever work hard!!!! You and Romeo are both amazing. I still get moved every time I see your kitchen windows.🥰🥰. They are phenomenal, and the fact that you designed them created them repurposed is much as you could with them until you ran out of stuff. I didn’t word that very well lol. How much unique elements you put into those windows. And how hard you worked to get the right color and stain combo to get the results that you wanted and to follow through the house. I never seen anything like them before and wow.
A round of applause for hustling to get the living area done on such a (reasonably) short timeline! I don’t know that I could’ve braved the 30° weather to cut wood lol 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Hearths are definitely good if you are cold and want to sit by the fire. I love our fireplace!
Also, I really hope that you do look into a technique. I posted after your video yesterday about the clear wax and then the black wax to get that look on your vintage fireplace. I guarantee you it will give you what you’re looking for and a lot easier to and at the same time you’re protecting your fireplace mantle Again Kacha is an excellent source for this technique and how to use. Her channel is just her name and she is amazing. Videos she’s done up to recently are the ones that are going to give you the best information on this technique. Over this last year especially last several months her information instructions, etc. are not as in-depth how to. And I think that’s because for two years at least she really took us through it and I think she feels like she’s got other things to share with us now. I really hope you look into this the clear wax and then the black wax. I just want it to be everything you imagine it to be. Believe me, you know a lot more about renovations and DIY projects. I think this is something you could really utilize with future DIY’s too.

My favorite thing to use to wash fruits and veggies is just vinegar! 🤍 It seems to help my produce last longer too, I just pat dry and store in a mason jar.

Absolutely lovely, the bookcase finish will be the cherry on top.
You can clean your veggies and fruit with water and white vinegar. I usually use a large bowl, put in my veggies (one kind at a time, i.e., tomatoes, peppers, etc), then a splash of vinegar (maybe 1/4 cup) and let them soak for about 15-20 minutes, rinse and they are good to go. Cheaper also than a pre bought solution. Grapes are especially dirty.
I so admire your work ethic and mad carpentry skills. The mama bear in me needs to say please wear ear protection when using power tools ❤😊. My day is always better when I start the day watching your videos. I’m in New Zealand, so I watch you while eating my breakfast. You are totally awesome 🤩
It drives me bats when DIY RUclipsrs don't wear proper PPE, both for themselves and because they're modeling harmful behavior for their audiences. Proper ear, eye, and respiratory protection is incredibly important for avoiding long-term bodily damage.

I have never heard her ENCOURAGE (or even hint that it’s okay) to inhale carcinogens and whatever other nonsense you accused her of. She doesn’t even ENCOURAGE anyone to do what she does the way she does it. What she DOES is say if she can do what she does, then anyone can do whatever they want. I don’t think she planned on the “whatever they want” part including criticizing her…

Go with your gut. Before you even placed the framing around the bookshelf, I envisioned the sides and an arch across the top. Will look more "put together" and polished.
