BIMMERLINK for BEGINNERS | How to READ CODES ON YOUR BMW + REGISTER YOUR NEW BATTERY
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 27 май 2020
- Bimmerlink (brought to you by the same company that created Bimmercode) is a fantastic app that allows you to read the fault codes of many different BMWs through the OBD port. This is a quick tutorial to show you how it's used to read the codes, read other values (such as engine oil level, water pump speed, oil temperature, etc), open your exhaust flap, and even register a new battery.

Thanks for the video. Here is E90 battery registration using BimmerLink steps:
After replaced my original battery
1) connect BimmerLink with Veepeak OBD2 adapter
2) Put the car key in and start ignition (not start engine), without foot on brake
3) clean up error memories by the app
4) run battery registration
Done!
+shield TT so you DID get it to work then, that’s great!
@@HelpMeDIY yes, finally done after several rounds of trial and error. As a newbie, I’m happy about the final result.
i dont mean to be off topic but does any of you know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account..?
I stupidly lost the password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me
@Leonidas Marlon Instablaster :)
@Malcolm Allan i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now.
Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I appreciate you pronouncing Bimmer correctly. All those still calling their Bimmer a Beamer do not know BMW history.
+John Horchler ugh. Thank you!
Nobody cares, just FYI
Isn't a Beamer the bike?
As always great video, thank you
+Benny Bellman thank you sir!
Hi
Please tell me if bimmerlink can read pdc control unit on bmw x4 m40i f26
can i recode head unit to get rid of usb carplay with this app?
Just bought it but dont have ignition timing option there and I want to data log the car
Can you data log like ignition timing boost etc ???
Can you reset adaptations with Bimmerlink?
Awesome! most videos show what the apps can do but rarely a detailed walk thru the actual trouble codes. Any idea if it can show engine run time.
+@angus43 good question… that I don’t know sorry
Can i see real HP and NM? Like sport display?
Is there a way to make it go directly to dashboard when startup?
+@daviddorado5632 good question. Not that I’m aware of.
do i have to leave the obd
reader in or i can take it when done coding
+A United Yasharahla you can take it out when you are done.
Thanks a lot for the video! Can I use bimmerlink with MHD?
+Ahmed Hadi I had to Google MHD, so obviously I don’t know 😂. Can still be used with most tunes.
@@HelpMeDIY hahaha! I promise I googled too, but couldnt find anything until I unintentionally visted the bimmerlink developer page from the app store where it lists all compatible ODBs and that was like 20mins ago lol
Appreciate you and I am happy with my decision that I took for buying the app AFTER I saw your vid 🤜🤛
@@AhmedHadiPADI_scuba_instructor thanks! I meant I had to Google what MHD was… I hadn’t heard of it before 😂
Do you leave it plugged in after you turn off your car?
+DIY Ducati the Bluetooth dongle? Yes you can if you want.
I recently both 2008 6.50i e64. There’s no button to fold rear mirrors and my remote is not doing anything even i hold 5 seconds or so, i have to fold them manually... is this app able to code my remote ? what is the difference between bimmercode and bimmerlink ? Which one should i go for ? Great vid btw
+Erkut Karlikli BimmerCode does coding of your vehicle (not your remote btw). BimmerLink gives you diagnostic info. BimmerCode is the one you would need for this scenario. But you should google or ask a dealer of your car has that capability since I don’t know for sure that model does.
Thx for the quick reply , i will have to check on google then. Hopefully I’ll find a solution
Did you ever find a solution for this ? I have the same issue on my E63
Sir, the water pump doesn't show any numbers, does it just zero when the engine starts?
+argie ary I’ve never used that with the water pump sorry… maybe someone else can answer
Will it work with a 2007 E86 Z4? my electric steering stopped working and installing a new steering servo & controller requires programing the ECU. Will the app be able to do that?
Thank you
+kbruin79 I’m pretty sure that the app works for that car, but as far as having that capability I don’t know. I’d contact the app developers and ask.
@@HelpMeDIY Thank you for the quick reply
Do the exhaust flap work on 118i f20?
+Marcus Svean Flaten I don’t have any experience with that car, sorry. That’s a question for the Google or the forums I’m afraid.
Can this clear the SOS emergency warning when the sos battery in yhe headline dies and needs replacing? About to replace mine but not sure how to clear fault.
+welshjim22 good question. Never tried so I’m not sure sorry.
Hey in the same boat, did you find out if it does?
I have error b7f850 too at 12:45, something with the microphone. I was wondering if you ever found how it fix it ?
+John I think I just cleared it and it didn’t come back
@@HelpMeDIY Did not work for me on the F10. I'm reading post where some people saying, BMW deal mention to some owner the microphone located above the passenger is non-functional, very strange.
@@John-qc1zv hmm. Sorry not sure.
Can read all sensors? Such as tyre preasure, brake pads sensor or hand brake? Thanks
+Ionut Ilie I’m not positive, but I doubt it can read sensors that don’t really make sense for it to read.
@@HelpMeDIY Those sensors make sense for me as an non professional/extert user. I don't know why the hand brake sometimes it's working and sometimes no. Also, at service told me that they cannot read the pad brake sensor from the back. I have no idea why my wheels from the back are stuck... I already paid few testers without any real response 🤣. Thank you for your response.
@@MrBRANDaho hmm sounds more like a real physical issue and not a sensor issue if your wheels are stuck and the handbrake sometimes doesn’t work
can you initialize windows with bimmerlink?
+@stopherrr I don’t know
Hi sir i just want to ask about BimmerCode or bimmerlink is it posible to coding my e46 2001 using veepeak?? Thank you.
Yes!
Thank you sir👍
Hi Don Galang, E46 is not supported Bro. Hope this helps.
BimmerCode doesn't support the E46.
From every 3 Series generation it supports:
E90, E91, E92, E93, G20, G21, F30, F31, F34, F35, F80.
Is it free to register the battery after replacement
+@simonzhong6499 if you do it yourself
I can't get this to connect to my vehicle! Iv'e got the setting set for VeePeak Bluetooth LE, the BlueTooth is turned on in the Tablet settings but all it does is say connecting, then identifying vehicle, then the can't connect window!
+Randy Fleet well crap. I’d contact the guys at BimmerLink and have them help figure it out.
@@HelpMeDIY I just sent them a notice. I even deleted the app and downloaded again. No luck. Hopefully their support team has an answer.
@@randyfleet9968 keep me posted on how it turns out
@@HelpMeDIY I have just been told the app doesn't support e46! Now why didn't Google Play say so? What a bunch of crap. Marketing thieves!
@@randyfleet9968 ohhh that’s why. I think the Apple App Store mentions compatible cars.
do you need to purchase the app to scturly code the changes you make? changed halogen running lights to led ones and got a fault code bought vgate pro and downloaded app but won't let me use the code feature saying i need to purchase the app goong be nearly £70 just to change some bulbs
+Dave Bird the only coding I’ve done has been with BimmerCode and yes, I had to purchase it. Well, I guess I’ve used ISTA+ or whatever it is to code out the EDC. I have separate videos for each of those.
Do I need the full paid version to check the faults and clear them? I identified 45 errors but can't see what they are
+Matthew Nicholas I would think so but I’m not very familiar with their free version. I just paid right away. You can always try it
@Help Me DIY thanks for the quick reply. I'm £800 down in a week on the X3 thanks to new control arms and front tyres. I suspect I need new wheel speed sensors due to my dash having every warning light known to man. I just wanted to ID which one. I'm just a bit sick of throwing money at it at the moment so wanted to avoid the £34 on top of everything else if it doesn't help 🤣
@@matthewnicholas6365 I hear you!
@@HelpMeDIY bit the bullet, did the job. Front left sensor failure.
@@matthewnicholas6365 😎👍
Does it allow you to check the automatic gearbox temperature?
There is a “Transmission Temperature”, so I’d say yes.
@@HelpMeDIY Thanks a lot, mate.
+Farid Magerramov you got it. Thanks for the sub!
Is bimmerlink can see intercooler temperature?
@@kennkart i think only intake air temp
Where are the o2 sensors in bimmerlink i have bimmerlink But I don't know where to find it
+gooorg jooon I don’t know if there it’s a section for O2 sensors. What are you trying to do?
@@HelpMeDIY I want to see the live data so that I can know the performance of the sensor
@@gooorgjooon oh gotcha. Idk. I’d ask them or see if Google turns up anything
Can you reset brake pad sensors with it?
+Giannhs Giornas you don’t even need this to do that. I have another video showing how to reset service reminders ;)
@@HelpMeDIY resetting the oil service using the dash doesn’t work for me right now. It gets to the end as if it’s working then says “reset unsuccessful”
@@chrisjfox8715 Well crap... Try it the manual way without Bimmerlink and see if you get the same thing. I wonder if it's the car not allowing it or Bimmerlink.
@@HelpMeDIY you misunderstood I think. The manual way of using the physical button on the dashboard doesn't work. I havent tried using Bimmerlink yet because I already bought Bimmercode and want to avoid the added cost if I can help it.
@@chrisjfox8715 ahhh ok yes I misunderstood. Gotcha.
Current Engine Status 3. What does that mean it doesn’t give me anymore information
+Jay Mistry no idea, sorry
Can you see real time torque and hp figures?
+Ammar9 in the video I scroll through all the options it gives.
you can add that feature with BimmerCode. It's called Sport Displays
Thanks for the video. Nice car. One thing: just say “beamer” like the rest of us.
+Mark Watson never! Lol. It’s clearly even spelled correctly... BimmerCode. BMW cars are bimmers and the motorcycles are beamers. 😁
Tyre sensor activation for bmw
I just bought bimmer links and I’m missing major functions
+daniel pelaez reach out to them.
Yeah I just bought app and I didn’t have permanent errors in menu
Worth every penny
+chris krip yes!
Can force dpf regen?
+ZERTNOY 80 I don’t understand your question
@Help Me DIY Diesel Particulate Filter regeneration.
@ZERTNOY 80
Yes it can. From Bimmerlink site
"DPF Regeneration: Check the current state of the diesel particulate filter in your car and request a regeneration if required. Only for cars with diesel engine and diesel particulate filter." As he has an M4, that option doesn't appear.
Carlos Miguel ahh thanks! Yeah I’ve never owned a diesel so never heard that term :)
@@HelpMeDIY haha cool man!
yes it can force a regen 👍
The exhaust thing is only on certain m3
works on F25 X3 too
Any info on the “info memory?” Shows 5 errors while the other error screens show none? What’s the deal?
+Michael Nikprelaj 🤔 don’t know. Maybe someone else will chime in.
@@HelpMeDIY error memory contains critical errors, info error memory contains noncritical error for information purposes only and the permanent error contains errors that can not be cleared manually, but will be cleared automatically by the car. This is what I got from some forum sites. Hope this helps.
@@mSportZx great info, thanks!

How to read error codes: 8:29
Do not run the engine with the OBD2 adapter plugged in, or drive with it plugged in for long period of time, it will fry the unit. Easily avoidable and could be a very expensive mistake.
If you're worry about your car's battery being drained while coding, just plug your battery trickle charger in, because if the battery runs out while it is being coded and the computer turns off. That could be another expensive mistake.
+King Ming hmmm never ever heard of that happening before. On the contrary I’ve heard of lots of people that keep readers in all the time.
Then it will make no sense adding those real-time monitoring in dash board
6:00 ... 40 Liters ... metric system
