Make sure you trim the back of the front fender. Like the side that’s closest to the engine. XR’s are air cooled, they need the breeze as you ride to cool down.
How did the e start install go? I just bought a 1996 XR400 and am thinking of doing this, or having Rui at R Moto do it. Rui does all my work and does a great job, highly recommend him. He’s in Dowagiac, MI.
I just finished my XR400r engine build/rebuild, New hotrod OEM crank, New Niche head, New Niche 89mm cylinder, New Namura 89mm piston, New HD head studs, New '02 CRF450 timing chain, New Wiseco valves, New Hotcam stg2, New FMF-SS power bomb header, CZR 'LOUD' pipe, New twin air filter and OEM screen, New jets for the carb 165/65, New OEM oil pump, New EBC cultch friction disc's and Cryogenically frozen steel plates. While I did all this I installed the electric start mod. I also use a '05 TRX450r carb, it starts right up with the push of the button. I also have a '01 TRX400EX that i've owned for 8 years before I got my XR and it starts the exact same way even the sound. Lol If I heard it start with my eyes closed I would swear it was a 400ex.
@@corylangille1869 Hello my friend. Answer please. Timing chain part number 14401-MEB-671? Is it wider than the xr400r chain? Does she hang out on the timing sprocket? I bought 14401-MEB-671 dangling on a timing sprocket. Niche is a Chinese company? What can you say about the quality of spare parts?
@@user-xc7dm7rc9q Yes the 14401-MEB-671 timing chain is wider due to the extra material which make it a stronger chain. From what I can tell by searching the on google they Niche Industries is based out of Michigan in the U.S but also have a new distributor in Ontario, Canada. The quality IMO is good enough for me with taking the steps I would normally do like hone the cylinder even though it is new I always take the extra precautions with AEM things like that. I wasn't sure of their piston so that's why I bought a brand name piston.
Dude! 5’9” 185# isn’t small. Show them who is boss!
Hole shot that beast!
Nice Subaru 🔥
Nice bike!

I think I saw one with upside-down forks. Mine starts with one kick stock.
do u know the years of parts that will work? might have a good deal on a old 400ex and gonna strip the motor and do this.
All years of 400ex parts should work for the job. I'm running an '05 400ex wire harness and the engine parts are from an '02 400ex.
Does your top end have a bit of valve chatter ? I just bought a xr 400 and I’m curios to how loud the chatter is on a bike in tune.
Mine is pretty quiet, should be able to run these things wide open all day. Maybe check the timing chain tensioner ?
Any chance I could get a video of it just idling ? So I can compare
@trevorstienmetz5121 happens to be right by me, what's your FB I'll start it right now for ya.
