There are additional major offices and production facilities elsewhere in New York City, as well as in Los Angeles and Burbank, California.

I knew ABC had a loong history but that history going all the way to year 1946 is Simply WoW. Awesome.
Every year new theme. Great.
In end of 90's indent got simple but from year 2002 it started using new graphics and animations. Hats off to your research. Well done.

Actually, ABC originally started out as NBC's "Blue" network (the main NBC network was the "Red" network) until the early 40s.
Disney owned it and it was pretty cool seeing them as Disney's channel
From what I've read, the guy who bought NBC Blue after the divestiture was a candymaker.

That's awesome that they've basically had the same logo since 1962, almost 60 years. Sans serif fonts are your friends!

CBS has had that eye logo for 60 plus years. It all about brand identity.
In 2013, ABC used its new ABC Modern typeface across the network, replacing Univers.
I liked sans serif fonts more than serif fonts.
Would be weird to hear oneself, as a vocalist on any of these. "Oh yeah. I remember the day we started practicing this. It was pouring down rain, and i was waiting for a bus on 49th and I was scared I was running late" .....

Always liked their "ABC Color Presentation" intro animated graphic. Began the "ABC Circles" in 1962 with "The Jetsons" which was the first color program presented on ABC, September 23, 1962. Locally our ABC affiliate would cut the audio and voiced over with "the following is a big 6 color presentation".

Un sello distintivo de las redes Estadounidenses sin duda eran sus Jingles y campañas anuales, tanto así que las cadenas latinoamericanas siguieron su ejemplo desde mitades de los 80s y hasta principios de los 2000s. Lastima que ya no veamos más este tipo de campañas en pantalla, realmente cumplian con el objetivo de pertenencia e identidad hacia una cadena.

The 1989 ident sometimes makes me think of 15.ai. That's why it's my favorite ident from ABC.
If you don't understand, the 15 transition of No.'s Top 15,000,000 Worst Australian Logos (No. joke!) was inspired by that ident.

In the US back in the day, all the new TV shows (and new seasons of continuing TV shows) on broadcast TV premiered in September.

What's with September?
I also wonder what's special about September in the 1969-1974 idents. I think it's their anniversary at the month?
There used to be only 3 commercial networks in the US, and the TV "season" was from September to mid-May. They all went into summer reruns from late May to early September every year, that is until people started watching more pay cable and the internet.
Production folk would take a month off from May to June, and then they'd make new shows (or new episodes of returning shows) that would premiere in September. The ratings on these shows used to be tallied by AC Nielsen in September, February and May, and then networks would know which shows to cancel and how much to charge advertisers for commercial time over the course of the year.
The networks would make big, splashy ads to entice viewers at those times of year starting in the late 60s, but stopped doing that about 1983. /GenXer who studied TV in college, and worked in film and TV production for 6 years.
@@thepepperpot3809 There would be a separate program (with previews) to show off the new cartoons. This program would air the Friday night before the new cartoons would air.
September is when all the new fall shows premiere.
Sweeps periods are November, February, May & July.

ps: "Rede Globo" is much better than "ABC" and one day it will be the biggest broadcaster in the world!

The reason is more than simple. SBT's owner was heavily influeced to the American TV stations that he decided to recreate that essence to his country with obvious paid licenses from the American stations (NBC, CBS, ABC), that explains the "Quem Procura Acha aqui" & "Se Liga" campaings from 1988 - 1990 and that cheaply-made TVS Station ID from 1988 with the HBO's '83 Theme.

I think it was back in the 80's that PBS aired a special about Rede Globo. Not a lot of escapist drama I recall, more based on real life and what people relate to. Also calls to save the environment (singer in a native garb). Not sure we're ready for it still as there's not a big Portuguese/Brazilian community that I'm aware of.
