That would be a good slogan for ABC to use for the 2020-21 fall tv schedule(this fall on abc don't go anywhere not even to work"lets stay in our homes")
3:17 "We wish to thank the Ralston Purina company, sponsors of Bold Journey, for relinquishing their time this evening, in order that we might bring you the special Disneyland '59 program. Bold Journey will return next week over most of these stations. This has been an ABC Television Network presentation."
The sheer SFX/CGI indulgence of these in the 80s would have been mindblowing for someone from basically most other countries staying in the US, being used to far less futuristic stuff in their countries. Brazil had fancy CGI too though.
I personally think ABC had the best feel for contemporary pop culture trends and the most stylish, fun promo campaigns of all the major networks, they had the best music too. I've got the theme from 1974 (my birth year, coincidentally) stuck in my head now, damn it.
I think they caught lightning in a bottle with that minimalist logo package from 26:13 to 27:00. You can plug that into any era and it'd work. I'd also throw the one at 25:26 in that category too.
Every time I hear the song “Still the One” on oldies radio, I think, “Wasn’t there a discofied gaudy ABC promo with this song back in the day?” Thanks for confirming my memory was accurate! (Best promos in this collection were the funky black and yellow ones from 2000/2001).
Aw, thank you, Paty Santos. That was nice of you to say something like this about ABC. Also, here's a song to it as well. LYRICS: Happy birthday to you Happy birthday to you Happy birthday, dear ABC Happy birthday to you
WOW, this is BOSS!! 🏆🏆❤❤ ABC hit its pinnacle in the late 70s, I remember it well! NBC was on the bottom of the barrel at that time, but once Miami Vice hit the airwaves, NBC started on an upward spiral with some great programming, and by the mid-80s, the network surpassed the other networks. Say, I saw you posted ABC affiliate WCVB-TV in Boston. That's my home turf!! Many thanks!! 😘😘😘
Saw my home channel in there, too - WABC New York! Home of the 4:30 Movie, which brought Godzilla movies and Vincent Price horror flicks into the living rooms of delighted kids in the ‘70s!
They did. Everything from the Brady Bunch to Starsky and Hutch and Happy Days to Taxi, Home Improvement and Roseanne. In more recent years, Gray’s Anatomy, Castle and The Good Doctor. They‘ve always delivered good, solid entertainment with a high likable factor, and they haven’t been afraid to do something a bit daring from time to time - whether it’s afternoon TV movies aimed at kids, a miniseries about the terrible realities of slavery or a TV movie depicting the full horror of nuclear war. I think I can honestly say that in my lifetime, I have watched more programming on ABC than any other conventional broadcast network.
ABC always emphasized an easy, cool, contemporary look, at least through the mid1970s, while the other networks' promos were heavy handed and seemed to be ordering you to watch NBC or CBS. It slowly paid off, as did ABC trying some original shows like That Girl, Monday Night Football and The Partridge Family.
I’m not from the US and I can see that ABC was very ahead of this time is compared to the other broadcasting companies just watched the Rede Globo TV broadcast from Brazil logos and tell me more about it
You know i'm thinking for the 2020-21 fall t.v season abc needs to for the hell of it use one of their classic logo and promos for a throwback nostalgia feel if they were to to that i would love them to use the abc logo they used in 1970,1975,1978,or the logo from 1981 that would spice things up....
That one tune at the end, where it goes, "Oh my gosh! Baby let me love you now.", is that an ABC logo? I wonder where I could find the full version of that tune, and what's the name?
“America’s Watching ABC.” You could not have been alive in the United States in the early 90s and NOT have heard that on your TV screen. The American Broadcasting Company. Watched by more people the nanny other network. Now the Disney Broadcasting Company. Lol. You can also see how broadcast television started dying a slow death in the mid-2000s.
