Ms. Nettles is a vocal beast. She doesn't choose to use her "beastliness" often but it's great when she does. It's cool to see her get some recognition for it. Thank you, Jess, for another informative and fun video. 🤍 I always make it that far.

OMG Jennifer Nettles!! I'm from the southern US and she's very popular for her work in Sugarland, a country band. One of her more powerful songs that most people remember her for is "Stay" if you ever check it out! Great vid!

Fantastic reaction! Ms. Nettles possesses and amazing instrument. Jennifer has been on Broadway as well in Chicago. Her cover No Good Deed from Wicked is SO SO good. Also her cover of It All Fades Away from Bridges of Madison county is stunning! Thank you again for the wonderful reaction. So glad you enjoyed Jennifer's song stylings!

Jennifer is an incredibly underrated vocalist, which I think may be due to her primarily performing in the country genre and a lot of the hit songs she sang on with her band Sugarland not demonstrating her full range and style. I've also noticed that she has more of a country "twang" to her voice when she's singing country songs, but I'm not sure if that's an intentional affect that she adds to her vocals. I saw a live video of her performing Bohemian Rhapsody with her band and she absolutely nailed it. BTW, I love your reaction/analysis videos and you have a new subscriber! One other thing...I would highly recommend watching the official video for the band Halestorm's song Break In, which features their vocalist Lzzy Hale and Amy Lee from Evanescence. It's a really beautiful balld and the combination of Lzzy's powerful, gritty rock voice and Amy Lee's beautiful clean vocal tone is phenomenal. Here's the link if you're interested... ruclips.net/video/OUuVReJSrc4/видео.html

Jennifer Nettles is my favourite singer of all time. Truly underrated. Sugarland is my favourite band and IMO she is one of the best voices of our generation. Like..wow. There’s no other country singer that has sang with as broad of a range of stars that she has; Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Adele, JLo, Katy Perry, Cheap Trick, Bon Jovi, Lionel Richie, etc. Incredible.

First time I’ve ever watched one of your reactions and I must say I’m
very impressed, you covered so many vocalist points that most don’t ever mention or I’m
Not sure they understand what you were even describing. Again great reaction with a intelligent and thoughtful honest response on what you covered during your breakdown of her musical style as well as her vocal styles. You covered more truly musically related information in the 16:30 minutes than most cover in 30 minute reactions and they usually don’t say much except maybe it was good or not. That’s just an opinion and everyone is welcome to their own opinions but a reaction should as you did so brilliantly and gracefully cover more than just an opinion. I’m absolutely a new subscriber after this because of your musicality, understanding of vocalist and so much more that you expanded on in your reaction that some might not appreciate but I do. Great Job 👏🏼BRAVO👏🏼BRAVO👏🏼BRAVO👏🏼
P.S. Please forgive all grammatical errors because I have (MS) which causes many issues now for me from eyesight problems to many other medical issues that makes it much more difficult to comment and have it make any sense. Some days it’s just hard to get my thoughts from my brain to the page, talk about frustrating that’s the type’s of issues that will lake you crazy because before you never gave it a thought or even worried about that happening. Please no pity because I’m so very grateful to have my amazing husband of 37 years, our wonderful grown children we’re so proud of plus their beautiful/handsome spouses and our precious intelligent grandchildren with another one on the way. So yes I’m so blessed and (MS) research has made great strides in treatments and medications, that I’m truly grateful for such great Doctors and all the truly dedicated medical staff from the researcher’s, the nurse’s to the young one’s who volunteers while working hard at community colleges to get their degrees in respiratory therapy or whatever degree they’re working towards. I can’t just quit or give up with so many dedicated medical personnel working long hard hours to help find better or faster treatments or safer more effective medications. Never Stop Never Give Up! That’s a good mantra for whatever goal or anything good you’re working for in your life!!!
Remember suffering can be productive if not done under duress or torture, but our forefathers did so much and there wasn’t many times it wasn’t done under hardship and suffering. The point is they got it fine and it made our great great great grandparents much better human beings because they it not to get rich but for dignity with grace.

I truly love all music…from classical to heavy metal to jazz and everything in between. One I’m learning about and appreciating is country music. I was listening to Brooks and Dunn “Red Dirt Road” and it suggested a cover version by some group called Sugarland. No idea they are so I watched it. WOW…that lead me to learning more about singer and, so far, I feel happy and ashamed. Happy that I found someone with such power and control with a god given talent. Ashamed that I didn’t know about her sooner. Truly mind blowing and it seems so effortless, almost like she’s not even trying.

Hi Jess! I love revisiting your videos I've watched sometimes. Lately I've been listening to a lot of H.E.R. and Jazmine Sullivan and was shocked to discover they did a song together called "Girl Like Me" (Tiny Desk) I re-watched your analysis of Jazmine's Tiny Desk performance of "Bodies" recently and absolutely LOVED your reaction (again). If your mind was blown then, I GUARANTEE it will absolutely MELT when you hear these two incredibly talented young ladies TOGETHER. Would love to have you analyze it but if you don't and you haven't heard or seen the video, it is a MUST. Trust when I say it's almost unbearable to listen to (if that makes sense) because it's so phenomenal. Also still hoping you check out Zoe Wees as well. Hope the new year is treating you right. :)

I really enjoy your discussions around form and motif via things like time signatures, or negative space, or dynamic changes etc. The song *YYZ* by *Rush* (the live in Rio version), starts off with the Morse Code for the Toronto Airport's call letters, and then it's like a travelogue of them thematically moving through airports on their way home. At one point the song sounds distinctly Arabic or Persian. I believe it's a key change to a grouping more popular in that part of the world, but I would love to hear you discuss the choices in that song, especially around that distinct cultural effect.

I like her full chest voice, but it doesn't seem to be a good match when she does the nasally head voice in the same phrase. Maybe if she was lighter in her chest before the transition.... nitpicky.... I do enjoy her early Sugarland work and some of the even earlier work I've heard from heard from her.

She sounds great, right off the bat, but she’s kind of belting right off the bat and I’m wondering if there is anywhere for her to go from there. It’s not good for stamina or her vocal cords, but we’ll see how she handles that.

Discovered your channel through your reaction to Angelina Jordan who is one of several highly talenter young norwegian females in the music industry. But our grand "old" lady, Sissel Kyrkjebø is worth listening to. She is highly rated and have performed with Placido Domingo amongst several others. She was the instrumental vocals in the score to the movie Titanic. She was supposed to have the lead vocals but the producers wanted to push Celine Dion to the masses so Sissel did not get them, even though IMO she is a much better singer than Celine. ruclips.net/video/L_dyqL9o_Dk/видео.html
