Thank you - Brilliant, clear and straightforward explanation of the basic paths associated with router. I am looking to add Sophos XG Home (firewall) on bare metal, in series with my Mikrotik 4011iGS, purely to provide the extra Intrusion protection features. I expect the Sophos should be in Bridge mode between modem and Mikrotik, as the Sophos will function only as a FW, Then the 4011 can continue as Router and CAPSMan, but without FW rules. The Mikrotik will still be a 'router on a stick' with a CRS328 switch. Does this sound workable?
