It’s suppose to be like year 2 of him being Batman. It will show more of his detective side of Batman
Trust me, this amazing trailer hasn't revealed anything from the 3 hour movie . It was intentionally distracting & ambiguous . The fact that it barely had shots involving the main villain " The Riddler " & that most of it was action with The Penguin , who will appear in the movie for only 9 minutes, just shows that the real story is being saved for when the movie comes out .

It's inspired by the Batman Year One, Earth One, Ego and Long Halloween comics as well as the Arkham Games. So many inspirations. It feels like a comicbook come to life.

I gotta say: Robert Pattinson CRUSHES the year 2 Batman! His rage almost seems to come off the screen and hit you in the face. And I think that the Riddler is really gonna mess with his head, which isn't gonna help an already tormented mind. And it's releasing in March which makes it a HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOOOOOOOO me! Aaaaaah!
That hallway scene was insane!!!
That's because it kinda resembles the Vader Hallway scene.
Oh and also, The Batman Theme in this trailer sounds very close to the Imperial March theme.

Matt Reeves said *The Batman* is based mainly on these two Batman comics ;
Batman year two
and
Batman: Ego (and other tales)
But moreover this movie will be based on neo-noir films like Chinatown, French Connection and even Taxi Driver (when describing the visceral way we will learn about Bruce and his mental instability).
Robert stated that there isn’t a huge difference between Bruce Wayne and Batman at this point because this is only his second year of being Batman, he’s full of rage and resentment, he isn’t sleeping and instead is prowling the streets at night becoming this monstrous thing that is overwhelming his already broken (and further fracturing) psyche.
[From a recent interview with director Matt Reeves]-
"I wanted to get into the mindset of the character, and I wanted to think of the psychology," he explained. "For me, I think one of the cool deep dive comics was Batman:Ego. Bruce is confronting the beast that is Batman and it's that kind of duality. There's a lot in what it's trying to do in the story about him confronting the *shadow side* of himself and the degree to which you have self knowledge."
"You're able to understand his motivations, Batman is so broken, why he's doing all of these things for the reasons that he thinks is right and that have a heroic sort of grounding in them," Reeves continued. "There's also many things that are driven by the parts of himself he doesn't yet know, and so I would say that that kind of psychological union, that sort of version of THIS version in The Batman is very much connected to the vision from the comic (by Darwyn Cooke) Batman : Ego."
From what they are saying this much like a batman year 2 style story . He's been batman for over a year . Crime is at an all time high . And villians are coming out of the woodwork to challenge this mythic batman . Very hyped for this.

Bruce Wayne in the movie will have a huge problem separating himself from Batman so he will be a very brutal Batman.

I remember seeing the teaser trailer a year ago and being bummed it was so far away...man how time fly's😍😍
This is a young Bruce and he’s forming his code and the reasons for his codes will be made clear. He’s going to learn in this film why neglecting Bruce Wayne is a mistake because that persona can get him things the Bat can not, we’ll see Alfred trying to pull Bruce back from the darkness before it engulfs him. We will also see a Bruce fighting wildly before he learns to be a technician, before he learns that fear is a much more powerful weapon than blunt force so this iteration will be head on fighting his way out of things versus thinking. I think we are going to see a much different version of Batman this go around, before he had all of the tech and used his money to arm himself with all the gadgets, this is going to be raw

That hallway scene pulls me out. As a gun owner you know nothing stops high caliber rounds to the chest without blowback. Plus he’s now deaf. The greatest gun trope in cinema is shooting rounds without ear protection! One round without proper protection and your ringing for days.🤣.

This is a close adaptation/inspiration of Batman: Year One, which is available as both a graphic novel by Frank Miller and and animated version of the same name.
It’s based off year one and long Halloween comics according to reeves. Cannot wait for this. Might top the dark knight movies.

I'm curious about Robert's Bruce Wayne as well Michael & Christian's Bruce is fully grown & knows how to be charming & smoother Robert is a much younger Bruce who knows how to behave around people but he's probably still got that gruff edge to him. As his Bruce gets older he pulls it together to be the Bruce we know love.

the noir that Batman movies have been missing. Nolan leaned into crime thriller and i loved that but this one depicts the city in a much darker tone. like a serial killer detective mystery. and i hope it does. i know Matt Reeves is not a stranger to darker movies. He did really well with the American adaptation of Let the Right One in.

Oh my gosh the mom sounds like Leslie Mann!
I'm fairly sure they're going to keep this PG-13 (it has tie-in merch already after all) but I really hope they stretch it to its limits so that it doesn't feel held back. This tone and style would've really lent itself well on a low R-rating at least especially with Riddler being a Jigsaw-like serial killer figure and with the Falcone Crime Family wandering about along with some gangs and corrupt cops.
Batman isn’t very R rated, just very gothic and dark. Doesn’t seem like he would cuss to much
@@Josh-dy4lq I wasn't talking about Batman the character because obviously, the character itself is as malleable as they come if the countless iterations are of any proof. Just that this movie in particular fits the R mold based on its style, its themes, and the grounded nature of its setting. And the R-rating isn't so much about just cussing as it is about having looser restrictions on imagery and the subject matter it tackles.

*Bruce hasn't create his* charismatic, playboy *"Bruce Wayne persona" YET,* *Pattinson was explaining this at the DcFandome panel* ... He (Bruce) doesn't have interest in being Bruce, he's operating almost completely just in Batman mode, in this first movie, this is part of his character arc, he's gonna have to realize that he needs to create his "Bruce Wayne persona"..

Batman Noir is a great way to put it to Pops credit. I think its more 3nd year but closer to Batman year one.
This batman has yet to develop self control. Hes more aggressive and brutal and the loss of his parents is fresh. This is the first live adaptation that showed me(us really) WHY this character's feared, he isn't doing too much, he looks so angry in this. We also see his detective skills, he's like the world's greatest detective.
5:14 wow 👏🏽, hats off to you man. People always think Batman is Bruce's alter ego when it's the other why around. The bat is who he is and Bruce is indeed the mask.
Also, we've never had a young live action batman, EVER, the potential is limitless,I hope we get the bat family in 3 years or so. I pray DC's future are in the hands of directors with amazing creative visuals that have read popular AND old comics of the characters and are able to properly guide these actors to bringing them to life, with their movement and line delivery, writters who understand the very essence of who the characters are and the experiences that shape/break them so they can make a story that fits the character and have fleshed out character development, so they can make og dc fans proud and draw in casual viewers.( DC have amazing heroes and even greater villains but the problem is they don't get good representation in mainstream media, they should have their OWN formula)
