My man.. you just saved me a massive headache watching your videos inspired me .to go " beefcake" just got my m2c goodiebox today. And said to myself I'm going to need some bigger Springs and look what just jumped on my feed AMAZZING ... 1631 here I come
Love the video! Finding the right springs is what got my RC journey started.. Thanks for all you've done to help me out over the past year. Keep the great videos coming!
East you are the man bro, the amount of info you put into your videos and R&D I love it. Can you advise me on some good spring for my Kraton 8s she’s heavy almost 40lbs.
I've never spec'd them out, but what I can tell you is tak some calipers and get the measurements of the inside diameter (iD), the outside Diamiter (OD), length etc... and jump over to that website I linke where I found the 1631 springs. They have a pretty intuitve search fuciton there. You may be able to find what your looking for. I need to buy me an 8s, so I can be inspired to make content on the 8s Rigs!
@@EastTactics ok I will do that. Oh man if you do get one I would love to see how you correct all the flaws and make it better the way you do with all your rigs👊💪
Another great informative video from EastTactics. 👊 I definitely need better springs for my M2C'D EXB. She's a wee bit heavier than my almost stock BLX.
Nice. Thanks for all the testing, so we don't have to lol. I'm wanting to do something to help with mine. I'm half way there with all my aluminum upgrades and I'm getting bad rebound with 100w oil in rear shocks. So I gotta figure something out soon. It's tough to land those big air jumps without flipping after landing
I know your meaning a more specific video talking about these springs and how they've been. But what I can tell you is I have been running these springs since the drop of this video, and they have been great. Naturally a heavier rig with beefy springs is going to take away from plushness and some traction control, but or me bashing its not feeling like a draw back. This spring, I will be dropping videos rocking my new EXB with stock springs... a great opportunity for me to feel the rig back at its stock state. And I will bring up conversation comparing the two rigs. thanks for following me brother!! here is my latest video bashing with these springs. ruclips.net/video/Kl63BNV5DF4/видео.html
Stock springs in most rc cars are too soft, in my Tekno mt410 I upgarded to Arrma springs, but that still wasn't enough for me. I have recently bought GPM shocks. These come with very stiff springs 🙂
I know this video is a few years old now but with todays latest Kraton v2 exb would you still run these springs and the light diff fluid? Latest exb v2 of course have an emulsion setup to… curious as my K6 once I get my HW setup installed is def going to be gaining weight and the chassis slap I do think is going to concern me
It never hurts to experiment, I do believe that the V2 EXB comes from stock heavier with the aluminum bulkheads, and I’m pretty sure Arma increased the stiffness of their springs a bit. But I’m not 100% sure. I will say these springs are pretty awesome but once installed, they do require a dramatic increase in thickness of the fluids inside, two help minimize bouncing or bobbling up and down effect you get when running through grass, etc. I ended up going all the way up to a 5K differential fluid before I reached a point of my preference. If I felt chassis slap was an issue. Then I would pick these springs up. I’d probably buy a set of four new springs off of Jenny‘s RC, that way you can revert back quickly just in case you’re not happy with the end results. I still run these springs on my V4, heavy, Kraton.
I have this set up on my Kraton v5 it’s great man thanks! What do you recommend putting on a 36 pound outcast 8s?! I want to upgrade the stock coils and shocks
Very true, my guess is that for those who do not have anything that would work well, the dremel would be the cheapest. Wish I had a belt sander in my shop. Great points though
Just a question but has anyone figured out the part numbers from century springs for the kraton 8s. My roommate got one and it’s a heavy beotch. Needs some of that century spring love.
I wish I could answer… but 🤷♂️ All I could suggest is take some measuring calipers and take those measurements to the website and use their search tool to find exactly what you need
Stock springs are rated at 5 pounds. The 10548 springs were 15 pound springs. Three times that of stock, their fitment works although I believe they had a few more coils, yet they have less coils than the 1631. The 1631 springs on the other hand are more rated at about 10 pounds.
I do… To compensate I adjust the shock collars all the way up on the front. I do wish I could have found those 1631 Springs little bit shorter for the front. But just wasn’t happening.
Course I was using 5k to tame the heavier springs that I had on prior. So 3k might be fine too. You might experiment. But I have 5k in my mine currently with the 1631 springs and like it
Hey had kinda of a general question about the talion. I have a v1 talion. Hadn't messed with it in awhile but getting back into it. As far as finding parts, are the newer parts for the V4 and such, backwards compatible? Having a hell of a time figuring it out. Thanks!
That’s a great question, honestly that’s a pretty old version however, and I’m just guessing here, but I’m pretty confident that anything you pick up from the newer versions should fit. For example if you pick up New a-arms, or a new Diff house, shock towers, braces, hinge pins, shocks whether you buy it from the manufacturer or third-party company, more than likely they will all be able to bolt onto your body. I know I don’t sound 100% confident here, so maybe if you tell me exactly what you’re wanting to upgrade specifically I could elaborate more. Fantastic resource right here www.arrma-rc.com/support/downloads
Nevermind. Just realized they cannot be cut as the cut end will not have that last wrap around that’s on a horizontal plane. Or am I missing something?
No, to account for the "over length" in the front, simply adjust the shock collars. No need to cut them. It would be very difficult to mimic the flat bend placed on them from factory, if possible at all. Just shave them and adjust your shock collars up, and your golden. :)
Ok hold on….are the 6s typhon springs similar in length whatsoever to the 6s kraton? I have a typhon and not sure why I assumed this would work for it. The MW spring is substantially longer than stock. Will be pretty bummed to find this won’t work as I have tried every spring in the book to get this thing from dragging ass with the added weight of M2c stuff but nothing has worked. By the way I tried to reduce the length of the springs and reproduce that nice taper on the end. The result is sinfully ugly.
Yeah, not only are they shorter, 15-20mm, they are also different in stiffness then the Kraton. All may not be lost, you can search MW for a lot of springs. So I got two questions first question is have you come to any conclusion on the weight of shock oil for big jumps with a lot of aluminum parts. I'm having an issue with it bouncing after landing real bad. It looks like a question is are there going to be any more jump competitions. It looks like I got into it just too late lolconsidering I work at the hobby shop and get a discount, I'll be all in. Like I wanna jump through a window or something crazy lol😎😁. I came from fpv and flying in bandos and hitting gaps.
Nice! Yes jump competitions will be starting up again this spring. What shocks set up are you currently running? And how much does your rig weigh with body and batteries?
@@EastTactics it weighs 14.2lbs and I'm running stock shock and pistons in the kraton v5 with stock oil in the front and 100w in rear so far. Just starting to dial it in. And we're jumping it around 25ft up and around 65 ft out so far. I gotta build a bigger ramp now. It was for 3s line but I moved on to better things lmao
If you wanna try something new and put a little bit more strength underneath those 14 pounds and perhaps help mitigate bounce. You might consider trying those 1631 Springs. With these more heavy duty springs you wanna put either 2K or 3K differential fluid in them. Pretty soon I will be experimenting with both to see which I like more. However if you’re feeling like chassis slap is not so much of an issue more so just bounce. You Honestly might just throw on the M2c zero rebound shock caps, those do a great job. Either way though if you go with the 1631 Springs or not you definitely still want to pair that with the M2C zero rebound shock caps.
@@EastTactics k yea I'll probably look into grabbing the caps and o-ring pistons when I grab the shock towers. I feel like the chassis slap is necessary to transfer some of the energy into the ground but I do want to to absorb it a little better and not bounce out of control and almost flip. Appreciate the help 🤘
Got da 10548 springs in n on my typhon. Im waiting on shock caps n pistons from m2c. Tried running it today n it’s bouncy as hell on da road lol but im not bottoming out i think?
Interesting, you decide to put those on the typhon? They may be a bit too much what with the length of the springs and stiffness, considering the lower weight of the typhon. The shock caps will help, What oils did you manage to put in. Are you going with 5000 CST? Definitely a must, to get rid of that bounce. Heck in your situation you might even go 6 or 7000 CST, simply to counter the fact that it’s a smaller rig. She may not be ideal for road running or grass wrapping. But on the jump course those springs are definitely going to help protect.
how do i get those 1631 springs? i can'nt seam to find them

I found using a belt sander much easier and it also gives a more uniform grind. A palm sonder would work the same as it's a flat even surface.
