My brother and his wife had a renissance inspired wedding, and they told everyone to wear whatever, as long as it was in the spirit of the theme. The brides grandfather showed up as a court jester, thinking they'd be put off (he had something to change into), but they thought it was the greatest thing ever and wanted him in all the pictures as an intentional photo bomb. He was stuck with the big hat, bells, and curley shoes all day, being dragged from photo to photo

I got married on my sister’s birthday. It had not been intentional. Thankfully, when I had asked if it would’ve been alright she had said hell yes! So, I had put a bunch of birthday presents and birthday balloons at her table. I did my best to let her know how much she is loved and included her in everything. I doubt there had been anyone at the wedding who didn’t know it was birthday or hadn’t wished her a happy birthday. She had a great time and loved our band and free alcohol. She still talks about some of the memories we made on that beautiful day. Still happily married eighteen years later.

That bride to be is definitely not a bridezilla by not wanting that child at her ceremony in a lion costume. It really makes me wonder who is the parent and who is the child. On just about any other day of the year there would be no problem with that child wearing what she wants if that’s what the parents allow. However, this is someone’s wedding and there is a certain way the guests should be dressed out of respect for the occasion. Those parents need to actually act like parents.

It's not fair to leave that up to the bride anyway when the parent should just be able to make their child wear appropriate clothing in the first place. If you think a crying newborn will mess up your wedding, set up a room for them. Ask the church if they have a nursery or if the venue has a room. Then tell your friend you Love them and want them in your wedding. You understand they can’t be far from their baby so you have asked someone to stay with their newborn at the wedding venue that way they’re only away from them for a few minutes. This gives your friend the option to agree or back out of the wedding. Either way it’s their choice and they still feel like you love them enough to want them to be there no matter what.

GOD that first story awoke a memory in me. My cousin planned her wedding on the same day I had my 18th birthday - which you know, is a big deal - despite knowing months in advance it's my birthday. At the very least she gave me flowers and announced my birthday and had the band play a happy birthday song, which is sweet of her but it just made me feel extremely awkward. And considering the fact that she had a giant party for her 18th birthday with a shitton of gifts that had combined value of thousands $ while I spent my 18th birthday at her wedding and didn't get that many presents because everybody was already buying gifts for her wedding, including my parents, I'm still pretty bitter about it :)))) I'm happy for her, but damn, 18th birthday is a big deal and I wanted to spend it with my friends out in the city but had to scrap my plans a year in advance because she didn't want to move her wedding day - which she could have had on literally any other day that wasn't my birthday.

The bride said she purposefully chose the venue across the river in the next state because anyone under 21 was not allowed in the place after 10pm cuz she didn't want little kids there. But those of us that saved her a ton of money and were treated like hired help by her family missed out on most of the dance and party, after we worked all day for free.
