    看了好几个对大刘的访谈,虽然这个看上去有着很不专业的拍摄主持,但却有着最深的交流和最大的诚意。很明显这些同学都是大刘的真爱粉,对科幻也很了解,能感受到面对自己偶像的紧张和尊敬,这是让我感到最真实的地方,这样的访谈,比那些明显功课都没做好的主持人不知道高到哪里去了。

    I AM SO GLAD TO SEE HIM SAY "JUST WRITE". I was soooooo sick of teachers critiquing my writing by saying "but whats the underlying message you are trying to teach the reader?" NOTHING, its a human story from which many messages can be found. I hate the idea of planning every message and nuance of a story beforehand and having to fight the story and characters the whole time to conform to this predetermined idea. I just want to tell a cool, interesting story, with believable, realistic, characters that are put in hard situations we all relate to. It's more about the readers experiences than the writers, you just need to hope that the reader identifies with your characters. And the best way to do that is let your character live, don't try to corral them into predetermined outcomes. It may work sometimes, but many times when I'm writing, the characters do something I never planned, it just happens in the moment when the spark of the idea comes and you follow it. And I always love hearing peoples thoughts on it after, them pulling it apart to find there own meaning that reflects their life. And its almost always something I never thought of. Thats the beauty of good characters, it can reflect on people differently, and show them parts of their own life they struggle with.

    • @xeraphyx7903
      @xeraphyx7903 Год назад +1

      Agreed on the first part. A message or lesson on a social issue would be nice for a story, but the book being actually a good book is the number 1 priority.

    I should express my gratitude for this interview literally from the bottom of my heart: it is near impossible to dig out any textual dialog with the writer, not talking about living video. Cixin proved himself as a new shining sun of a solid sci-fi, and, most importantly, his prose is quite much "alive", in contrast to Greg Eagan's works, in which characters and thriller story are just an appurtenant of fictional science theoretics.
    Thanks for your work with Liu.

      I would argue that a lot of the characters in the series are quite romantic, and overall the collective that is Remembrance of Earth's Past ended on a rather optimistic note. A detail that stuck with me, the detail that Listener 1379 presumably passed away while thinking the Earth managed to survive after all, was very sweet. I think he shows his optimism even in the series, despite the picture of reality being quite bleak.

    Normally I wouldn't find the motivation to just sit there and read the subtitles of a 24 minute long video but the interviewers' nice, interesting questions and Liu Cixin's way of talking (even though I don't speak a word of Mandarin) and what he is saying had me just sit there and in what feels like no time at all the whole video was over. :D
    The Three body series is my favourite science fiction series even though I only just read it (or even heard about it for the first time), one of the few books that actually get me thinking about the future, the fate of humanity and science. I am doing my Master's degree in physics at the moment and his motivational words, unlike most other "inspirational speeches from other people" actually motivated me and made me feel a bit more optimistic about the future and what I am doing.

There are so many visuals in the series that lend themselves to artful interpretation... *SPOILERS* the VR world of three-body, tree cities, the droplet sequence, the great ravine, Luo Jie staring at a wall for 50 years, the characters of Da Shi and Thomas-fucking-Wade... brilliant stuff

    Ok but the translator that decided to translate "网红" to "Kardashians" tho lmao
    and while I'm leaving a comment, I have to add that I love his thoughts on AI-human coexistence and the need to adapt. All very thought-provoking stuff.

    Three body may seem too pessimistic, but it is rather realistic,one universe ends and the next begins even a better 10dimensional one perhaps

    原来有点反感他被捧成大神,现在开始喜欢不装的大刘了

    • @user-pz1gc5io2r
      @user-pz1gc5io2r 3 года назад +2

      首先他就是大神,其次不是他自己装,是国内媒体瞎起哄,起哄的原因现象级的科幻作家和作品都是大刘,国内的科幻小说还是小众
