That's some great coverage of the history behind airsoft and we are glad to have played our part in helping shape certain aspects of it, so thanks for including us! If you ever wanted to do a video like this for ASG, we'd be up for a discussion... we have LOTS we can talk about 😉 -JB
my husband grew up in Japan during the 1990s and he said their was some places to play on Misawa AFB. he has pictures of his friends playing it and many American servicemen on their spare time played it.
Nice video Jet! I started airsoft in Denmark 1999, and had a TM G17/18 GBB, a custom TM SD6 AEG with Systema internal parts - so it was highspeed and shot with a M120 spring and with stronger springs in my highcap mags, so I could unleash hell with full auto. I remember that soon after I started, the Classic Army arrived with external metal parts (upper/lower/rail), and when my teammates saw it the first time (when we visited a field/shop in Sweden) they went ballistic and changed from TM to CA almost immediately. The CA broke a lot, and they had a bunch of problems with internal parts, they were absolutely not at pair with TM internally, and the guys changed back or bought other upcoming/old brands like G&P, ICS, VFC, Systema PTW, some time after. I played with different TM's and in 2004 changed to G&P, and changed to Systema PTW in 2010. I still play with Systema PTW, and have never looked back. The fun fact is that even that ASG is Danish, I've never bought anything from ASG, and almost bought every AEG from Hong Kong directly.
That was a nice retro look of Airsoft man! I can remember when I started in 2002-2003 all you could get here in the UK was TM stuff from model stores in my local area with their site being the only one around for miles!
Man, started playing Airsoft back in 1999. Remember Jungle Toys guys? My VERY VERY 1st AEG was a FAMAS from Y&P. It was the 1st TM Clone AEG. Kinda Wish I still kept that FAMAS for my collection.
Iv been playing Airsoft since the 90's, And I can tell you now the reason why not many people played. 1. No eye pro 2. Expensive 3. No Airsoft Sites. We used to play in the back garden or local parks and woodlands 😂 still have one of my original TM Mp5 A5 👍😎. Love the entertainment you have been providing us Airsofters with for years so far. Thanks Jet your a legend mate 🙏 Uk
Damn I got into airsoft in 2011 when I visited my older brother,I was 9 and he had a few guns he let me shoot in the garden. I thought it had been around for way longer than the 90's.
I got a TM M4 in 2001. I was the only kid in school that even knew what airsoft was. Before the popularity of the internet, airsoft was relatively unknown. Recently I got back in to it. I can’t believe how much it’s grown!
I just ordered my first gun after over 10 years of airsoft celibacy. I'm consistently amazed at the quality and variety of the sub $300 guns. Seems like the "pay to win" aspect is nearly gone!
@@Steven-rn1oo its all the player. now. I took my cousin to a milsim last year. They were racking up hits using a $200 Lancer Tactical gun. I was amazed at the performance for a bare bones entry level gun.
Awesome history lesson Jet. I got into airsoft in 2005. I saw a few airsoft guns at a sporting goods store. It was the FAMAS, and as one who liked both Metal Gear Solid and Halo (as it resembled the BR) I had to get it. I had just turned 18 so I got that and then got a real steel as well since I was there. Prior, my friends and I had been playing paintball so we tried airsoft. The local field didn't have much in terms of rules, aside "wear safety glasses" so that was interesting. I still play now, 20 years later (freak I'm old lol) But it's still fun for me, as I got my niece and nephew into the sport.
Awesome video man! I have only been playing airsoft for a little over a year now and was just introduced to Novritch guns recently. Unfortunately Because of all the new airsoft laws being passed in New York State, that company no longer ships airsoft guns here.
Correction on Novritsh SSG24. It was the Mod24X made by Modify that was the sequel to the Mod24. And there were a lot of more improvements in the standard edition of the MOD24x than the hotted up version of the SSG24. It was only a rebranding for the european market.
Cool video topic, but when you said the Novritsch SSG24 was "the first innovation in airsoft sniper rifles since the asahi m40", that really disappointed me. That statement is incredibly disingenuous and biased, I know Nov is your friend but c'mon man. There were tons of innovations in airsoft sniping between 1994 and 2017 - that's 23 years.. All of the theory crafting, precision inner barrels, flat hop -> G hop -> then Rhop (among many other hop up innovations such as TDC and various bucking designs) , heavy weight BBs, various precision upgrade parts from companies like PDI, EDGI and Laylax etc; the list goes on. And trying to justify the claim that the SSG was the first innovation to airsoft sniper rifles in 23 years by saying "because other sniper rifle models had to be upgraded to reach their full potential" is a huge discredit to all the members of the community and companies that innovated and shaped airsoft sniping as we know it today. Novristch didn't really innovate any parts or tech, he just used the innovations of others that had existed for a while as upgrade parts, and worked with the Modify airsoft company to help him release a pre-upgraded/re-worked version of the existing Mod 24 rifle, under the name SSG24. The only thing he "innovated" was releasing a sniper rifle that didn't really need to be upgraded out of the box, using the existing innovations created over the past 23 years by other people, and also improving/fixing some of the flaws of the Mod24's design. I've been building/shooting airsoft sniper rifles for 15 years and the innovations that made airsoft sniping viable existed long before Novristch even started making RUclips videos. And compared to fully built sniper rifles, the SSG24 is kinda underwhelming. I've shot/used a few SSG24's, its pretty decent for an out of the box gun, but still needs work to keep up with a fully built rifle. I guess you could say that the innovation that Novritsch did for airsoft sniping was making sniping more accessible to newer players, which is definitely cool; everyone should be able to enjoy sniping in airsoft.
Like you commented and as I stated in the video, it was the first sniper that didn't need to upgraded after purchase. It came upgraded out of the box which is the innovative part. Seems ridiculous that it didn't happen sooner, but that's just what happened.
@@DesertFoxAirsoft Actually companies like PDI and several smaller companies/individuals sold some amazing pre-upgraded out of the box snipers before the SSG, so it wasn't the only innovation in out of the box airsoft sniper rifles since 1994. Those guns weren't as commonly available as the SSG/tac41/SRS are today tho [edit: also the silverback SRS came out 2 years before the SSG24], Nov definitely helped make sniping accessible to more people and is responsible for popularizing airsoft sniping. And yes I 100% agree that its ridiculous how the majority of airsoft sniper rifles weren't viable to use from the factory for so many years. Industry standards have been kinda low for a long time, i.e. AEG's really only started coming with deans connectors in the past 10 years, and its STILL not standard. But yea, most of the tech innovations used in decent out of the box guns today are the innovations made by the individuals and companies who made upgrade parts over the past 23 years, I feel like we should give them some credit for their work too. It's like saying the Wolverine MTW was the first innovation in HPA rifles in 30 years since its an out of the box HPA rifle and neglecting to mention the original drop-in Polar star engine - because it was an upgrade part and not an out of the box gun.
Yea I was like "wat..?" when he said that. There were loads of old school rifles that were innovative after 1994. The legendary VSR10 came out in the late 90's or early 2000's IIRC, and the old gas powered Tanaka m700 was a beast. Maruzen, APS, Tanaka, Marui made great rifles since 1994, and they were good guns at the time they came out. Those platforms were the foundation of all the sniper rifles being made rn. There was also that PDI VSR10 that came out of the box built with all the OG fancy upgrade parts, parts that people still buy and use. Novvy boi made airsoft sniping popular and easier to access, he deserves credit for that, but he shouldn't get the all the credit just for using/building on existing designs and ideas. It's not like he invented the designs for parts that come in the SSG, the designs he used are of existing innovations from Maple leaf, PDI, Laylax/Nineball/Prometheus, and many other innovators. I've been present in the airsoft sniping community since the mid 2000's and that hurt my soul to hear a big youtuber say that the SSG24 was the first innovation since the 90s for airsoft sniper rifles. A lot has happened since the 90s for airsoft sniping as a whole and for rifle innovation.
@@DesertFoxAirsoft That's not true, the silverback SRS came out in 2015, which is 2 years before the SSG24. SRS was the "first" mass produced pre-upgraded airsoft sniper, not the SSG. I'm sure it was an honest mistake but some people might think you're lying or shilling for Novrich when you say the SSG was the first pre-upgraded airsoft sniper rifle and the ONLY innovation in airsoft sniping since 1990's
Great history lesson of Airsoft. Just one critic: saying that the novritsch SSG-24 is "the latest improvement in Airsoft sniper rifle" isn't true because it copies the marui design of the vsr with the third-party part. If you really want to speak about innovation in the Airsoft sniping community, you can speak about the Silverback srs which has a bullpup design and can be used without any improvement Otherwise great to see all the way we have gone in our hobby
Yup I think the SRS definitely is the game changer because it's amazing how without any modifications out the factory it can outshoot pretty much anything out there, and has quick change springs which is necessary when playing in different fields. People don't want to pay so much for a springer, but its worth every penny. Arguably I would also say the ASG M40 sportline is also a leap forward in the sense we can now get a spring rifle of a quality that used to cost $300 for only $90, which is insane.
Why? The group that regulates the importation of toy guys is changing right? What if the PRC "peoples republic of china" (colloquially known as mainland china) and the ROC "republic of china" (colloquially known as taiwan) moved their manufacturing to the united states? It could become a positive development in the long run.
@@MrPolicekarim Its debatable if it's even a country, it's a socially conservative breakaway state. But it's certainly not independent, not from US, which the US supports because of their antithetical relationship to china. Kind of like how the US used to list the Chinese Muslim group known as the weegers as a terror group until they realized that claiming the weegers to actually be victims is antithetical to china and thus beneficial to the US interests, so they removed weegers from the list of terror groups and started astroturfing the victim narrative to the cattle. These are all surface level posturings and rhetorics, of course, the reality is, let's just say, even worse for you, maybe its better you not think about it too much.
When you buy a gun package from Evike, do they send the gear for the gun later in another package? I only got my 2 batteries and charger, when I was supposed to get 2 more mags, and 5k bb's. I essentially paid an extra $93 for something I could've gotten for $49. No email back from them either.
