Philmont Scout Ranch is a bustling center for high adventure and training. Youth and adults take advantage of the ranch's camping, training, and work programs. Most activity takes place during the summer, but Philmont also offers its Autumn Adventure and Winter Adventure programs.
More than 950,000 Scouts, Venturers, and leaders have experienced the adventure of Philmont since the first camping season in 1939. Throughout its existence, conscientious attention to low-impact camping techniques have helped maintain the ranch's wilderness flavor.
Leaving to go there tomorrow, can't wait!
Going next week
I was at Philmont in 1966. The experience changed my life.
I’m gonna go to philmont this summer in 2023
We look forward to having you!
i wanna go back to philmont where the rayado flows ... miss philmont. spent three summers there long ago.
I can’t remember what year I went. It was an experience I am so glad I got to do. We were so lucky because there happened to be a huge meteor shower. I can’t put into words what that is like in the middle of the dessert in complete darkness, the closest city 20-30 miles away or more.
Going in three hours, crew 619F03, itinerary seven! I hope for an experience I'll never forget!
how did it go
Went this year, 729-s-1 itinerary 33 120 miles all I can say is no matter how long a day feels there it is worth it, the first day I got back home I just sat there wanting to be back at philmont cherish every moment
I went in 1982 and will never forget it. Beautiful country and experience that will stay with you!
I went summer 1997, don't remember which itinerary we did, but I remember hiking baldy and riding horses. I think we got two showers in two weeks at the "canteens" along the way and absolutely gorged ourselves on pizza when we got back to town. Remember everyone using the payphones in town to call home letting everyone know we were alright. Had a blast, have lots of pictures.
I was at Philmont in the summer of 1983....an experience I will never forget.....hiked over 80 miles, my pack weighed 80 lbs. when we hit the trail, I still have hundreds of memories of my experience at Philmont.....I owe a lot to my scout leaders and the Boy Scouts....
Best experience of my life ,I did both baldy and the tooth amazing hope I get the experience to go again.
Went in 2010 and 2013, some of the best memories. We took the train from Chicago then to southern Colorado and stayed the night at the Koshare Indian museum for both times. Next day we took a bus there that was several hours to get to. I would go back in a heartbeat, liked it so much and I recommend it to everyone.
we did the exact same thing!
Went year 75. Unexplainably incredible

706-K!!! I hope to go back in 2014
Everything they said in this video is so true based on my experience this summer! 719-Lima! Whiteman Vega was by far my favorite campsite plus the Valle Vidale was awesome. We also never had to do the cons. project because it poured rain right as we were about to leave, and we still got our patches! The staff at Baldy Town were awesome and made us dinner when we got into our campsite really late and plus we saw a mountain lion at Seally Canyon which is always an experience.
804i2! just got back from itenary 8 it was awesome!
I cannot wait to go here in 2013
Waking up at 3am rn and getting ready to leave for Philmont. Hyped!!!

The treks vary every year; the treks for this year will change twice before you will go there. To see the itineraries for this year, visit the scouting.org site. The itineraries for 2014 are released on March 15th, so expect a similar date for the 2015 itineraries to be released.
Leaving next week on a 30 hour bus ride from Georgia!
Leaving in two hours on a plane ride from Charlotte, NC!
EYYY im leaving in 2 days!!!
I rode a bus from Tennessee to Philmont. Stayed on military bases along the way. McConnell AFB in Wichita and I can’t remember where else we stopped. It was a church I think. I remember the Leadership Corp doing initiations on young scouts. Fun times.
I leave in 2 days im excited af!
I was on a cavalcade this summer, best thing I have ever done

630M1 this summer!
630H1.
if all of get a opportunity go to the trading post it is a mini REI/ cabellas
Best trip is the train. They pick you up in Raton and bus you into Philmont.
I was there in July 1969. They got us up way early to watch the moon landing on a grainy TV. I forgot to put the mac and cheese up in the tree while visiting an old mine. Didn't think it was that important, but the bear enjoyed the mac and cheese. Thought I would be the butt of criticism but everyone did get a bear picture which we thought we had missed.
For the real time of your life check out the outpost excursions at Camp Manito-wish ...such a better experience!
leaving tomorrow.

I have a question. I am going to Philmont in 2015. I love survival and bushcraft. There is about 10 people going and i would like to know if there is a trek and why i should take it. I also want to hike.
that make two of us
Just started a venture crew. I'm assuming it's too late to sign up for the 2013 summer, but when do 2014 registrations begin?
What is the music used with this and how can we buy it? I didn't see anything like it on Philmont Trading Post site.
FEED BACK IS A GIFT. So much for "A scout is courteous" The only stupid question is the one you don't ask.
Does anybody know how much it would cost just me to go to Philmont? I am a 16 year old first class scout and no one in my troop wants to go except me and one leader who just turned 19. Is there any special training I should do or preparations?
What's your pack weight now?
808C 2009
803C 2010
Cool mountain?!???!??? It was 90 every days
how grueling is the hiking ?
It's not too bad, I did 9+ miles and full gear on a rolled ankle
120 miles and it will definitely "test" you
20 minutes to anywhere I remember everyone saying!
