    I believe the base coat is the glue between your nail and the color :)

    Wow so you can use a regular polish in between the gel? I didn’t know that. I thought you had to only use all gel

    Mist I rough up my nails? I hate that part. Makes mine brittle.

    Hi Paloma..I'm a new subscriber. I have hard gels to have a stronger foundation, I also never used gel polish. Can you create a ful gel nail and apply the gel polish and remove only the gel polish without disturbing the hard gel base?

    • @MsS-J
      @MsS-J 9 месяцев назад

      If you're skilled with an e-file you could. You'd have to just sand off the colour. Alternatively, you could buff the colour off with a buffing block but this will be very time consuming.

    What is the name of that purple color in particular?

  • @MsS-J
    @MsS-J 9 месяцев назад +4

    The primary purpose of a base coat is to give the colour something to adhere to and give the gel colour longevity. By not using one your manicure won't last as long due to your nails natural oils etc coming through. They will also chip easier.

    I did just like you said but mine came out lumpy looking, are there some brands of gel polish better than others? Maybe I bought an old shelf life bottle or something!

    • @MsS-J
      @MsS-J 9 месяцев назад

      A base coat helps for this reason. She didn't apply one so if you followed her to the letter, this could be why. Keep each coat thin and be sure to cure for the recommended time given by your gel manufacturer.

      Avoid dip. Gel and natural are good.

    How long can I leave my nails polished without curing? I take a LONG time with each nail and worry it’ll dry before I cure

    • @MsS-J
      @MsS-J 9 месяцев назад

      Gel polish can't dry without being cured. You'd be better off flash curing each nail for 10 seconds, then give them a full cure time at the end. The biggest problem you'll run into if it takes you a while is having the gel shrink or slip around between nails. Flash curing will solve this issue.

    Do you have to use a base coat?

    • @PalomaDaily
      @PalomaDaily  2 года назад

      it's up to you, I generally recommend using one if you want to protect your nail/have a thicker finish :)

    • @MsS-J
      @MsS-J 2 года назад +3

      Yes. The base coat works as a bond for the gel colour to adhere to. Without it your colour won't last as long and you'll have peeling or lifting. I'm a nail tech and the only time I'd ever skip the base coat is if I'm using a One Step Gel that doesn't require a base or top coat.
