What I love most about Mark's sketches are 1) You never know when he'll drop them. They could show up early on in the video, or towards the end, so you're always caught off guard, and 2) He always comes in with his own random agendas that completely mess with the original scenes. Never stop doing them, Mark.

Mark it's really great seeing how well those self-inserts are turning out, the color grading looked particularly convincing this time!
Mark's self inserts are one of the main things I'm always expecting in these videos. My favorite was probably in Morbius, about purchasing bad NTFs lol

The friendship bracelet totally got me. I thought it was actually what Keith pulled out to show Kurt until the camera pulled back.
Seeing this remake really makes you appreciate how good Beverley Garland and Lee Van Cleef were. Their performances really elevated the original beyond just sci fi schlock.

I saw this accidentally after watching the first one just a week or so before and was amazed how even the dialogue was almost identical. Was the first one such a hit that they had to remake it? :)
What an extreme downgrade this Keith and Martha are from Lee Van Cleef and (especially) Beverly Garland.
Oh, Beverly Garland WAS going to kill that Carrot. You believed it by her performance. This lady....mehhhhh... He should have reviewed that movie instead of this one.
I discovered this channel right before my daughter was born, and the first video I watched was a Neil Breen movie. The movie started out with two kids, and one part he was talking about was the camera man laughing. I lost my shit and laughed so hard I got high-pitched. So, a few days later, she was born, and I was living off buffalo chicken tenders, monster energy drinks, and fanboyflicks. I was off from work for two weeks on paternity leave, and i binge watched every episode. I'd say that was probably a time frame where I wish I could go back and do it all over again. So now I go a few months of not watching, and then I'll binge watch every episode I missed.
(Been doing those for 2 years now.)
Every comment section has people who think their personal lives are fascinating to share.

Interesting to see Lee Van Cleef in the clips of the 1956 original.
Always love it when a well-known and talented actor pops up in these low-end flicks.
Van Cleef was also in "The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms" at the end as a sniper. Now there's a fine film.

This one hits weirdly close to home for me. I watch the MST3k It Conquered the World pretty often. There is so much overlap between the two. It honestly benefits from a touch up, I am pretty forgiving but the alien would have been bad for a theater performance much less a film. A lot of the scenes are pretty much the same between the two films otherwise.

Dang, this was one of the first "bad movies" I ever made fun of. We loved it! I remember how most of it took place in that guy's living room or whatever, with everyone's backs to the camera because they were talking into the radio. Good times!
All I can say is that I've recently moved into a home originally built in 1962 and it has a very mid-century modern design and vibe. So, I've been remodeling to suit the place and this movie is a real gem. Just look at those curtains at 1:55.
BTW, that is a S&W Model 29 .44 Magnum at 10:53, a real classic.

Dude this entire video I had a memory of this movie tickling the back of my mind. I know I'd never seen it though. However, I have seen the SCTV skit many times as a child lol. That was weird putting it together in the end.

Another awesome video Mark! I like the original Lee Van Cleef and Peter Graves version with the pickle monster better. Watching the original I actually feel horrified by people in the town being controlled. Not so much with this one, but this one is quite weird and cheesy in its own way.

I think the original is pretty watchable! Lee Van Cleef works well enough with the material he's given and of course the monster costume
I also kinda love Beverly Garland's Ellen-Ripley-esque energy in the original; she really manages to be kinda b-a about going to shoot the monster in the face--she's mad. (The lady in this movie seems more sad or frightened)

I had to look up the theatrical ad for this and apparently it was a TV movie and debuted on Dec. 26, 1967 as ZONTAR, THE LIVING THING FROM VENUS.

I love your commentary on every movie that I have watched. There are 3 “most love to watch” B-movies whenever I’m in a bad, unhappy, or tired mood because they make me laugh: House on Haunted Hill with Vincent Price, Wasp Woman, and The Brain that Wouldn’t Die. I just saw T.B.W.D. and now there is a 2nd reason to laugh, your commentary. Have you seen or considered doing Wasp Woman?

"Zontar, the Thing from Venus" was part of a collection of films made by Larry Buchanan from 1967-69 for American International Pictures, who sold them to TV stations. None of them were meant for theatrical showings, which is why they are so chintzy (the model of the satellite in "Zontar" was also the alien ship in "The Eye Creatures".)

What's strange is that the sole purpose of the remake was the original comical monster, but the "better" one is onscreen for about 3 seconds.
So you just put your radio equipment you talk with space aliens in a closet and cover it with a curtain so no one knows what you are up to and thus won't keep calling you crazy. It's brilliant!
