She was 15 at the time or singing. By the way she's an adopted girl. Her real mother almost killed her in the bathtub when she was 3 years old. And then she threw Diana in the street in winter time. So then Diana spent 2 years in an orphanage, she didn't say a word, that is lost an ability of speech. When she was 5, she was adopted by an employee of this orphanage and on the advice of her friends she took her to a vocal teacher and so, and Diana first restored her singing, and then began to speak again. As you see, she has a special fate. She sings first and just then she speaks. In other words she needs to sing to just talk. So you can hear the results of her soul trauma in her manner of singing though she has actually overcome it and transforms it into something genious.

You've finally heard our beloved Diana. Now 16, she is a shaman, a master yodeler and natural contralto. She lives and thrives in the key of F3 much like Angelina Jordan, which, can be confused with a male tone. Her singing technique is quite unique from all other singers. She's a master at blending tones in transition, which can be construed as a "duel voice". She's a national treasure. Cheers!
Sorry man. Angelina Jordan is mezzo- soprano/ alto by nature. She is trying hard to push herself to be contralto. But it's not much successfully. Angelina's voice often suddenly just disappearing on really low contralto tones.

Diana is a pure contralto, which allows her to walk through the same area of tenors and even baritones. Though she has a quite large range and she has high notes and falsettos too. Diana is also poliphonic so, yes, you have the right "impression" that there's two or three layers of her voice at times, specially forming the low notes.

Sorry man. Angelina Jordan is mezzo- soprano/ alto by nature. She is trying hard to push herself to be contralto. But it's not much successfully. Angelina's voice often suddenly just disappearing on really low contralto tones.

Diana is a pure contralto, which allows her to walk through the same area of tenors and even baritones. Though she has a quite large range and she has high notes and falsettos too. Diana is also poliphonic so, yes, you have the right "impression" that there's two or three layers of her voice at times, specially forming the low notes.
I am shook! I am 28 and I have never heard someone like Diana. So happy to see all these channels reacting to her and Morissette. For sure, both deserve all the success in the world!!!

This song is about a person who is distraught about losing a lover asking or possibly begging for a last dance. Given that, her breathing is completely in keeping with the mood of the song. As for the tone of her voice I would say she is a beautiful contralto.
