The song "Rechenka" (affectionate from the word "river") is a Russian folk ritual wedding song. There is a version that this song appeared before Christianity, and since early Christianity and paganism were closely intertwined, there are many versions of this song. It tells how an orphan girl comes to the river and prays to the spirits of nature. The song is about how my mother, father and brothers were killed by enemies, there is no one to take care of her. The river in Ancient Russia was considered the border between the world of the living and the dead. You hear an ominous whisper, it's the spirit of her late mother responding to the girl's crying. There are about 30 variants of this song, but the content of each of the variants is based on the sad appeals of the orphan bride to her deceased parents, asking them for "blessings" and help for marriage, for family, to strangers. There are other versions of this song, where the heroine appeals to her brothers and even to her parents with a call to return to earth in the form of a bird to her native home. At the end of the song, the girl sails away to a strange tribe, to a strange family. The roots of the song go back to ancient Russia, it is a very, very ancient folk folklore.

Люди, хорошо понимающие и чувствующие музыку, уже говорили кое-что из того, что сказали и эти два музыканта. Например, о том, что 14-ти летняя девочка представляет собой как будто канал передачи некой духовной информации ; или о том, что в её голосе можно расслышать опыт многих предшествующих поколений; "старая душа". Diana had a rough childhood, neglected and abandoned by her mother. She was found on a bus station with a broken clavical bone at three years old.... She was taken to the orphanage where she met her now mom who worked there as a therapist. Diana had difficulty talking so mom tok her to singing lessons as a part of therapy. She loved it and her teachers recognized her talent.... The rest is history.

First a little a little background. Diana Ankudinova was born on May 31st 2003, and now on May 31st of this year, she will be 21 years old. This performance of Rechenka, a Russian folk song, was recorded on the 12th of May 2018, when Diana was only 14 years old and a contestant on a Russian vocal competition called “You Are Super”. Diana’s performance had many vocal professionals saying Diana was already showing a low, deep, rich and resonant sound, and her stage presence was well beyond what the majority of 14 year old girls were capable of. During this May 12th 2018 performance of Rechenka, people were curious about Diana’s low voice. The tone, the deep and resonant quality of her voice had many asking about her vocal range, so I found the following information; the year previous to this competition, 2017 at age 13, a year before the “You Are Super” competition took place, her vocal range was measured from D3 to A5, which put her firmly as an Alto voice type, but I could find no single performance used for this first measurement of Diana’s vocal range, but it is low for a 13 year old girl. Diana did not have her vocal range measured again until her appearance on a 9 week vocal competition called “ShowMaskGoOn” that premiered on September 25, 2021. Now, back to 2018 and Diana’s “You Are Super”, “Rechenka” performance. Her voice is noticeably deep, round, full, resonant and dark, with a maturity of tone quality that is well beyond her years. Many vocal professionals were speculating based on this performance, along with video taped concert performances that Diana Ankudinova could be a true Contralto voice type in the making. She also had exceptional vocal and breath control for a 14 year old. Her musicality was noticed by many vocal and stage performance professionals. Questions were being asked, and one of the most asked questions was, how does she do it? How can such a young female singer achieve those low, rich, deep, profound, and resonant sounds? Without actually scoping her vocal tract while she is producing those low notes to actually see what is happening within her vocal tract, the general conciseness of many vocal professionals is simply attributing Diana's ability to her winning the genetic lottery, meaning she was just born with unique vocal anatomy. Diana’s vocal folds, (vocal cords), appear to be longer and thicker than the majority of female singers. Her larynx (voice box) also appears to be larger than the majority of female singers, and her pharynx (throat) similarly appears to be longer than other female singers, plus she has a large oral cavity, (mouth opening). But there is more that just being born with unique vocal anatomy, Diana, after years of working with her vocal and stage performance coaches, knows how to use it It’s in her musicality and stage presence. It is in her ability to step into a character on stage and assume that character. It’s Diana’s ability to capture an audience, she is not just singing a song, she is communicating with the audience on a personal level. Diana Ankudinova also sang these 3 additional cover songs you should really listen to during the 2018 season competition of “You Are Super”. She was in You Are Super again the following year, and won again. One of the songs she sang that time was Wicked Game, a beautiful performance, and I think you'll recognize one of those judges.

I still marvel at the irony in life, a single act of cruelty changed her life for the better. If her abusive mother hadn't cast her poor little broken body out like trash at that bus stop and rescued, she most likely wouldn't have survived her childhood and be delighting us with her talent today. It crosses my mind every time I hear her sing!
I think that's also a universal key to having a positive attitude, not easy at times of course, but whatever horrible happens to one, they could try to think that maybe its just unavoidable to get to be the better version of them, or to the better version of their lives. When i look back at my life, i have had pretty horrible crisises and downs etc, i really really had to crawl my way out of, fortunately succesfully, but i see now that where i am now, wouldnt have happened without those.
Some of that flexibility is definitely unique to her body. A lot of that can be trained in, but a lot can't. Truly amazing, beautiful and unique voice.
She grew up in an orphanage. Her mother was an abusive alcoholic who abandoned her at a bus stop in the middle of winter with a broken collar bone at the age of three. As a child she described nightmares of her biological mother trying to drown her in a bathtub - something she believes was based on real events. Happily a massage therapist who worked at a clinic that children from the orphanage were occasionally sent to grew fond of her as a little girl and (at the insistence of her biological daughter who also grew fond of Diana) adopted her, helped foster her talent and she ended up being discovered on a talent show for kids with traumatic backgrounds. They ended up moving to a different town because Diana’s mental health was affected by continuing fears that her mother might find her and hurt her.
You guys are very perceptive Diana was born to a very abusive mother who beat her and neglected her. And at age 3 1/2 she was found on a street in the winter time and eastern Russia abandoned with a broken collarbone and mini bruises. She ended up in a orphanage and thank God she was adopted by a very loving family. At age 5 she could barely speak she had stuttering and speech problems. Someone suggested to them to give her singing lessons of that it would help improve her speech. And it did she quickly learn to speak but realize she loved singing and had a extremely natural talent for it. I really look forward to doing Wednesdays with Diana Ankudinova. Great psychology insight! Unfortunately Diana had a terrible early childhood as she was was abandoned as an infant by her birth mom at an orphanage. I think she had signs of abuse. One of the workers there adopted her. The reason she was started on singing was to correct a speech impediment she had. It's nothing short of miraculous how the love of her adoptive mom allowed her to blossom and become this incredible young lady!

Richard...You were exactly correcting your statement about the possibility of Diana having gone through some terrible times. If you look into her life story, she becomes even more of a miracle than you can imagine.
Speaking of reincarnation, Diana has a song called “Голосом твоим” (As your voice). She’s singing about her love of her Motherland and there’s a line in a chorus that when she’s gone, when she leaves this world, she’ll return as the voice of Russia. Sadly, you are right that terrible things happened in Diana’s childhood. This show she was on is a singing competition for less fortunate children who have either experienced horrible experiences or/and are orphans. Diana’s biological mother had multiple failed pregnancies and miscarriages. Diana is the only one who survived. In the episode you are super where she sung this is a man’s world, she is reluctantly telling what her bio mother did to her. Her mother was physically abused with the intent to kill. She sat on her chest so she couldn’t breathe and it grew differently, tried to drown her in a bathtub, punched her that she had a burst her lip. And probably much more that she went through. She also remembers that her bio mom was an alcoholic and also abused drugs. When she was three she was found abandoned by a bus stop with a broken collar bone in deadly freezing temperatures.her other biological family for whatever reasons didn’t want her (some didn’t have the means and some say in their words she was to retarted). Diana eventually met Irina (whom she calls her real mother) , who worked for the orphanage as masseuse, and was adopted between four and four and a half. Immediately it was observed she had speech delay because of the abuse she went through and she went on singing lessons to help remedy that. A family friend told Irina that Diana had unique dark timbre in her voice and that they should nourish it. At the age of five she went on singing competitions and the rest is history. She can yodel (yodel time when she is thirteen at the kids voice), knows what she taught the ‘the dome’ opera singing, folk and so much more. Her range as of September is measured as C3 to Bb5. As of august 2023 her upper range reached D6 in the song the day you… I have great difficulty recommending songs for you guys because she sounds fantastic no Mather what she sings. But I recommend acapella songs, but trust me you FALL deep in love with her music. At least that’s to me personally.

The show that Diana's peforming at is a special talent show for children who spent a significant portion of their life without parental care. To understand who Diana is a bit better I really recommend watching Diana's music video for her song *Baikal* (OST The Spirit of Baikal). Not only it's a work of art in all aspects, when you take into consideration some of Diana's personal history (her biological "mother" trying to drown her, and Diana's subsequent fear of water) it becomes something beyond belief. Diana is incredible in every way.

Hello from France, she sings and works every day since 6 y.o. It's 98% work, her larynx is normal, but what she does with it is simply incredible. No whitchcraft or genetic miracle but she's someone similar to a a great master of the voice instrument and also of stage presence.
Diana demonstrates both the ability to channel emotion from horrible experiences and also alter her state during a song to a trancelike state and she takes on the emotions and character of the performance and song. You can see it in many of her performances where it takes her a moment and she snaps out of it. Sometimes to tears. And yes her vocal instrument is one of a kind and she uses it masterfully. Enjoy the journey of the "Queen of Goosebumps". To me she is the best thing I have come across in music. I have been enchanted for a while now. Но Игорь Крутой сказал, что на русском врядли будет так же впечатляюще. И Диана на третьем своём выступлении спела Реченьку да так, что все вошли в транс. И это видно по всем лицам, по всем реакциям, кто слушает и смотрит. Вот и сейчас оба эти парня вошли в транс, настолько атмосферно прошибает насквозь всё в этом выступлении. Я это видела слушаю уже седьмой год, и всякий раз со мной происходит то же, что и семь лет назад, когда я впервые услышала это выступление Дианы. Now I've got an example of what pure genius is. In the past, I have often seen this epithet applied to various people, but there has always been an explanation for why these people achieved incredible qualities/levels: innate ability, enhanced by determination and/or long training, combined with luck of being in the right place at the right time... but in Diana's case, I just don't understand how so many gifts came together in one child/person. Genius as such - is the last in a row of possible explanations.
A force of nature. Yes, it is reported that the judges were spell bound but the thing that impressed me most was her ability to repeat that yodel, consistantly AND whilst being lifted into the boat.
Just a thought fellas but from the time Diana was born her mother actually tortured her 24/7 until she was found at a bus stop badly bruised with a broken collar bone at 3 1/2 years old. She was sent to an orphanage unable to speak and thought to be brain damaged. When she was five a wonderful woman named Irina Ponik, a massage therapist, who worked at the orphanage adopted her. A friend of the family who was a musician discovered Diana had a very good voice and helped Irina and her family to develop it. Singing allowed Diana to speak without stuttering and she just loved to sing at that point. She was maybe 6 or 7 years old. The rest now is history but consider how much that little sweetheart of a girl must have screamed for the first possibly 5 years of her life with the nightmares she must still been carrying. No wonder she has such a powerful voice and such an innate way of feeling emotions of all kinds.

I've listened to Diana numerous times and have had goosebumps EVERY time. This is something utterly unique in a singer and her abilities simply cannot be matched. On another judgement show (Helping Hands) she sang the Elvis track 'Can't help falling in Love' and the judges simply said - "there is nothing we can teach you". An understatement.

So much great content about her to discover, not only performances, but also interviews and documentaries, a rich world of true artisty and such a sweet soul, but yes Richard you where right, she has been at a very dark place during early childhood, I was amazed about how quickly you figured that out... heart wrenching story, heavily traumatized, but after all she seems to cope with it very well, and she found some great people supporting her on her way, first of all her real mother (that's how she calls her adoptive mum), and older sister, but also musicians and artists like Igor Krutoy or Brandon Stone, her voice teachers, forgot the names but there was one great artist among them... and many more... Great duets to check out as well... I'm really happy for her, she deserves her success, and managed to stay a very humble and down to earth human, admirable woman now at 20... Guys shes a natural one off... On top of that she has a ton of vocal and performance training. And yes as a three year old She was rescued from the street with a broken collar bone and cut to her eye.. mum had bad drink problems .. She was trained in yodelling and she also has the pollyphonic voice heritage of Eastern Europe.. The timbre is dark but now she has pressed her training and voice to the point where she can hit an almost whistle tone. But she will always have this shammanistic soul at her core..😎🧙♂️🇬🇧 Love it when people who know still are ...like what have I just seen and heard.😉

One other thing guys when shes doing that yodel the dancers are actually lifting her off the ground and she doesnt waver from the previous iterations. That takes insane levels of power and control, nevermind core strength. Some of the best female stage pop singers are contraltos.. Think of Dame Shirley Bassy queen of the Bond themes.

It’s more noticeable in certain lightings and she usually covers it up with makeup, but if you know to look, you’ll see lighter patches of skin around both of her eyes, and also on her hands. Shes 20now and hear her new years duet with Brandon stone and her Dune theme performance at St Petersburgh. The adopted Cinderella girl has grown into a remarkable beautiful young woman .. still a home girl and sometimes goofy humour but also an intelligent and level headed grafter at what she loves. Bear in mind most singers of her style and range dont reach their peak for another ten to 15years. 🤯😎

She had a rough youth until her 5 when she was adopted by a good couple who pulled her out and to what she is now. We have seen her mother in a spot. The song is sad and dramatic about an orphan girl, waiting at the river to be brought to her forced marriage and an uncertain future. And the river is her only friend. But she is astonishing and unique. Whatever she sings is hers, from then on. She is what she sings, most just sing. She has a unique voice, and she knows how to use it.

Her own (biological) mother had problems with alcohol and mental health. Therefore, in early childhood, she forced Diana to starve and freeze her almost to death, and then, in the end, she tried to drown her in a bathtub. Diana was miraculously saved and adopted by a social worker, being in a rather serious condition (mentally and physically). They had to flee their hometown across Russia (literally to the other side of the country) because of a crazy biological mother who harassed Diana and threatened her. And they were very poor, all the dresses for Diana were made by her stepmother (you could see her in this video). Diana was haunted by nightmares about her biological mother for many years after her escape. The stepmother loved Diana very much and took care of her as if she were her own. The girl was engaged in singing from an early age and tried very hard, because she was very afraid that her kind new mother would send her to an orphanage, literally could not believe in her happiness. Her fears were unfounded, except for the trauma caused by her birth mother. After winning various regional song contests, Diana got on a TV show for orphaned children and performed there just phenomenally (an analogue of the X-Factor, only for orphans). This show brought Diana popularity, money, and an apartment in the capital, where she successfully moved with her foster mother. Which Diana, of course, calls just "mom." ❤️

She makes A LOT of pretty amazing music. There's a series where she was a masked singer and had to disguise her voice while people tried to guess who she was. Kwastas Vagias uploaded the videos as they aren't typically available outside of Russia. You'd like any of those songs I think. She also has some amazing covers like "take on me" by Aha or "wicked game" by... That one guy who sang in the 80's 😅. She also has some amazing original songs, one of my most favorite is "In my huge city" and last of all she does some wonderful improv duets with a woman named Sasha Kasputina, such as Michael Buble's "Feeling good" PLEASE feel free to react to these! It tells how an orphan girl comes to the river and prays to the spirits of nature. The song is about how my mother, father and brothers were killed by enemies, there is no one to take care of her. The river in Ancient Russia was considered the border between the world of the living and the dead. You hear an ominous whisper, it's the spirit of her late mother responding to the girl's crying.
There are about 30 variants of this song, but the content of each of the variants is based on the sad appeals of the orphan bride to her deceased parents, asking them for "blessings" and help for marriage, for family, to strangers.

Diana had a rough childhood, neglected and abandoned by her mother. She was found on a bus station with a broken clavical bone at three years old.... She was taken to the orphanage where she met her now mom who worked there as a therapist. Diana had difficulty talking so mom tok her to singing lessons as a part of therapy. She loved it and her teachers recognized her talent.... The rest is history.

First a little a little background. Diana Ankudinova was born on May 31st 2003, and now on May 31st of this year, she will be 21 years old. This performance of Rechenka, a Russian folk song, was recorded on the 12th of May 2018, when Diana was only 14 years old and a contestant on a Russian vocal competition called “You Are Super”. Diana’s performance had many vocal professionals saying Diana was already showing a low, deep, rich and resonant sound, and her stage presence was well beyond what the majority of 14 year old girls were capable of.
During this May 12th 2018 performance of Rechenka, people were curious about Diana’s low voice. The tone, the deep and resonant quality of her voice had many asking about her vocal range, so I found the following information; the year previous to this competition, 2017 at age 13, a year before the “You Are Super” competition took place, her vocal range was measured from D3 to A5, which put her firmly as an Alto voice type, but I could find no single performance used for this first measurement of Diana’s vocal range, but it is low for a 13 year old girl. Diana did not have her vocal range measured again until her appearance on a 9 week vocal competition called “ShowMaskGoOn” that premiered on September 25, 2021.
Now, back to 2018 and Diana’s “You Are Super”, “Rechenka” performance. Her voice is noticeably deep, round, full, resonant and dark, with a maturity of tone quality that is well beyond her years. Many vocal professionals were speculating based on this performance, along with video taped concert performances that Diana Ankudinova could be a true Contralto voice type in the making. She also had exceptional vocal and breath control for a 14 year old. Her musicality was noticed by many vocal and stage performance professionals. Questions were being asked, and one of the most asked questions was, how does she do it? How can such a young female singer achieve those low, rich, deep, profound, and resonant sounds?
Without actually scoping her vocal tract while she is producing those low notes to actually see what is happening within her vocal tract, the general conciseness of many vocal professionals is simply attributing Diana's ability to her winning the genetic lottery, meaning she was just born with unique vocal anatomy. Diana’s vocal folds, (vocal cords), appear to be longer and thicker than the majority of female singers. Her larynx (voice box) also appears to be larger than the majority of female singers, and her pharynx (throat) similarly appears to be longer than other female singers, plus she has a large oral cavity, (mouth opening). But there is more that just being born with unique vocal anatomy, Diana, after years of working with her vocal and stage performance coaches, knows how to use it It’s in her musicality and stage presence. It is in her ability to step into a character on stage and assume that character. It’s Diana’s ability to capture an audience, she is not just singing a song, she is communicating with the audience on a personal level.

She was in You Are Super again the following year, and won again. One of the songs she sang that time was Wicked Game, a beautiful performance, and I think you'll recognize one of those judges.

She was taken to the orphanage where she met her now mom who worked there as a therapist. Diana had difficulty talking so mom tok her to singing lessons as a part of therapy. She loved it and her teachers recognized her talent.... The rest is history.

I still marvel at the irony in life, a single act of cruelty changed her life for the better. If her abusive mother hadn't cast her poor little broken body out like trash at that bus stop and rescued, she most likely wouldn't have survived her childhood and be delighting us with her talent today. It crosses my mind every time I hear her sing!

I think that's also a universal key to having a positive attitude, not easy at times of course, but whatever horrible happens to one, they could try to think that maybe its just unavoidable to get to be the better version of them, or to the better version of their lives. When i look back at my life, i have had pretty horrible crisises and downs etc, i really really had to crawl my way out of, fortunately succesfully, but i see now that where i am now, wouldnt have happened without those.

She grew up in an orphanage. Her mother was an abusive alcoholic who abandoned her at a bus stop in the middle of winter with a broken collar bone at the age of three. As a child she described nightmares of her biological mother trying to drown her in a bathtub - something she believes was based on real events. Happily a massage therapist who worked at a clinic that children from the orphanage were occasionally sent to grew fond of her as a little girl and (at the insistence of her biological daughter who also grew fond of Diana) adopted her, helped foster her talent and she ended up being discovered on a talent show for kids with traumatic backgrounds. They ended up moving to a different town because Diana’s mental health was affected by continuing fears that her mother might find her and hurt her.
You guys are very perceptive Diana was born to a very abusive mother who beat her and neglected her. And at age 3 1/2 she was found on a street in the winter time and eastern Russia abandoned with a broken collarbone and mini bruises. She ended up in a orphanage and thank God she was adopted by a very loving family. At age 5 she could barely speak she had stuttering and speech problems. Someone suggested to them to give her singing lessons of that it would help improve her speech. Great psychology insight! Unfortunately Diana had a terrible early childhood as she was was abandoned as an infant by her birth mom at an orphanage. I think she had signs of abuse. One of the workers there adopted her. The reason she was started on singing was to correct a speech impediment she had. It's nothing short of miraculous how the love of her adoptive mom allowed her to blossom and become this incredible young lady!

Speaking of reincarnation, Diana has a song called “Голосом твоим” (As your voice). She’s singing about her love of her Motherland and there’s a line in a chorus that when she’s gone, when she leaves this world, she’ll return as the voice of Russia. I love this song and especially her vocalisation.

Sadly, you are right that terrible things happened in Diana’s childhood. This show she was on is a singing competition for less fortunate children who have either experienced horrible experiences or/and are orphans.
Diana’s biological mother had multiple failed pregnancies and miscarriages. Diana is the only one who survived. In the episode you are super where she sung this is a man’s world, she is reluctantly telling what her bio mother did to her.
Her mother was physically abused with the intent to kill. She sat on her chest so she couldn’t breathe and it grew differently, tried to drown her in a bathtub, punched her that she had a burst her lip. And probably much more that she went through. She also remembers that her bio mom was an alcoholic and also abused drugs.
When she was three she was found abandoned by a bus stop with a broken collar bone in deadly freezing temperatures.her other biological family for whatever reasons didn’t want her (some didn’t have the means and some say in their words she was to retarted).
Diana eventually met Irina (whom she calls her real mother) , who worked for the orphanage as masseuse, and was adopted between four and four and a half. Immediately it was observed she had speech delay because of the abuse she went through and she went on singing lessons to help remedy that. A family friend told Irina that Diana had unique dark timbre in her voice and that they should nourish it. At the age of five she went on singing competitions and the rest is history.
She can yodel (yodel time when she is thirteen at the kids voice), knows what she taught the ‘the dome’ opera singing, folk and so much more. Her range as of September is measured as C3 to Bb5. As of august 2023 her upper range reached D6 in the song the day you…
I have great difficulty recommending songs for you guys because she sounds fantastic no Mather what she sings. But I recommend acapella songs, but trust me you FALL deep in love with her music. At least that’s to me personally.

The show that Diana's peforming at is a special talent show for children who spent a significant portion of their life without parental care. To understand who Diana is a bit better I really recommend watching Diana's music video for her song *Baikal* (OST The Spirit of Baikal). Not only it's a work of art in all aspects, when you take into consideration some of Diana's personal history (her biological "mother" trying to drown her, and Diana's subsequent fear of water) it becomes something beyond belief. Diana is incredible in every way.

Hello from France, she sings and works every day since 6 y.o. It's 98% work, her larynx is normal, but what she does with it is simply incredible. No whitchcraft or genetic miracle but she's someone similar to a a great master of the voice instrument and also of stage presence.
Diana demonstrates both the ability to channel emotion from horrible experiences and also alter her state during a song to a trancelike state and she takes on the emotions and character of the performance and song. You can see it in many of her performances where it takes her a moment and she snaps out of it. Sometimes to tears. And yes her vocal instrument is one of a kind and she uses it masterfully. Enjoy the journey of the "Queen of Goosebumps". To me she is the best thing I have come across in music. I have been enchanted for a while now.

И Диана на третьем своём выступлении спела Реченьку да так, что все вошли в транс. И это видно по всем лицам, по всем реакциям, кто слушает и смотрит. Вот и сейчас оба эти парня вошли в транс, настолько атмосферно прошибает насквозь всё в этом выступлении.
Я это видела слушаю уже седьмой год, и всякий раз со мной происходит то же, что и семь лет назад, когда я впервые услышала это выступление Дианы.

Now I've got an example of what pure genius is. In the past, I have often seen this epithet applied to various people, but there has always been an explanation for why these people achieved incredible qualities/levels: innate ability, enhanced by determination and/or long training, combined with luck of being in the right place at the right time... but in Diana's case, I just don't understand how so many gifts came together in one child/person. Genius as such - is the last in a row of possible explanations.
A force of nature. Yes, it is reported that the judges were spell bound but the thing that impressed me most was her ability to repeat that yodel, consistantly AND whilst being lifted into the boat.

Just a thought fellas but from the time Diana was born her mother actually tortured her 24/7 until she was found at a bus stop badly bruised with a broken collar bone at 3 1/2 years old. She was sent to an orphanage unable to speak and thought to be brain damaged. When she was five a wonderful woman named Irina Ponik, a massage therapist, who worked at the orphanage adopted her. A friend of the family who was a musician discovered Diana had a very good voice and helped Irina and her family to develop it. Singing allowed Diana to speak without stuttering and she just loved to sing at that point. She was maybe 6 or 7 years old. The rest now is history but consider how much that little sweetheart of a girl must have screamed for the first possibly 5 years of her life with the nightmares she must still been carrying. No wonder she has such a powerful voice and such an innate way of feeling emotions of all kinds.

I've listened to Diana numerous times and have had goosebumps EVERY time. This is something utterly unique in a singer and her abilities simply cannot be matched. On another judgement show (Helping Hands) she sang the Elvis track 'Can't help falling in Love' and the judges simply said - "there is nothing we can teach you". An understatement.

So much great content about her to discover, not only performances, but also interviews and documentaries, a rich world of true artisty and such a sweet soul, but yes Richard you where right, she has been at a very dark place during early childhood, I was amazed about how quickly you figured that out... heart wrenching story, heavily traumatized, but after all she seems to cope with it very well, and she found some great people supporting her on her way, first of all her real mother (that's how she calls her adoptive mum), and older sister, but also musicians and artists like Igor Krutoy or Brandon Stone, her voice teachers, forgot the names but there was one great artist among them... and many more... Great duets to check out as well... I'm really happy for her, she deserves her success, and managed to stay a very humble and down to earth human, admirable woman now at 20... She was trained in yodelling and she also has the pollyphonic voice heritage of Eastern Europe..
The timbre is dark but now she has pressed her training and voice to the point where she can hit an almost whistle tone.

I saw an interview short with her where she was explaining her early childhood and adoption by Irena . She mentioned the collar bone injury and that she has a slight scar under her one eye. Probably only she or familly would notice. I certainly havent 🧙♂️
One other thing guys when shes doing that yodel the dancers are actually lifting her off the ground and she doesnt waver from the previous iterations.
That takes insane levels of power and control, nevermind core strength.

It’s more noticeable in certain lightings and she usually covers it up with makeup, but if you know to look, you’ll see lighter patches of skin around both of her eyes, and also on her hands. Just thought I would share since it seems like not a lot of people know. I believe it developed around 14 years old when she was under a lot of stress

The trouble is the TV competition show versions tend to be shortened... its best if we can pin point one of her stage versions or seperate video I know theres one she made and the lights are swirling like snow and part of it is shot from above

She had a rough youth until her 5 when she was adopted by a good couple who pulled her out and to what she is now. We have seen her mother in a spot. The song is sad and dramatic about an orphan girl, waiting at the river to be brought to her forced marriage and an uncertain future. And the river is her only friend. But she is astonishing and unique. Whatever she sings is hers, from then on. She is what she sings, most just sing.
She has a unique voice, and she knows how to use it.

As for Diana's background, you've hit the nail on the head: yes, she went through terrible times. Her own (biological) mother had problems with alcohol and mental health. Therefore, in early childhood, she forced Diana to starve and freeze her almost to death, and then, in the end, she tried to drown her in a bathtub. Diana was miraculously saved and adopted by a social worker, being in a rather serious condition (mentally and physically). They had to flee their hometown across Russia (literally to the other side of the country) because of a crazy biological mother who harassed Diana and threatened her. And they were very poor, all the dresses for Diana were made by her stepmother (you could see her in this video). Diana was haunted by nightmares about her biological mother for many years after her escape. The stepmother loved Diana very much and took care of her as if she were her own. The girl was engaged in singing from an early age and tried very hard, because she was very afraid that her kind new mother would send her to an orphanage, literally could not believe in her happiness. Her fears were unfounded, except for the trauma caused by her birth mother. After winning various regional song contests, Diana got on a TV show for orphaned children and performed there just phenomenally (an analogue of the X-Factor, only for orphans). This show brought Diana popularity, money, and an apartment in the capital, where she successfully moved with her foster mother. Which Diana, of course, calls just "mom." ❤️

She makes A LOT of pretty amazing music. There's a series where she was a masked singer and had to disguise her voice while people tried to guess who she was. Kwastas Vagias uploaded the videos as they aren't typically available outside of Russia. You'd like any of those songs I think. She also has some amazing covers like "take on me" by Aha or "wicked game" by... That one guy who sang in the 80's 😅. She also has some amazing original songs, one of my most favorite is "In my huge city" and last of all she does some wonderful improv duets with a woman named Sasha Kasputina, such as Michael Buble's "Feeling good" PLEASE feel free to react to these!
