- Hi everybody! Some of you may know that when I uploaded this video it got blocked immediately all around the world because of the copyright which really sucked because I've spent a lot of time on it and I'm pretty pleased how it turned out. I really put a lot of love into making these videos. I really wanted to have it public that I even tried to trim some segments out with the option that RUclips provides when uploading a video, however it was still blocked even after that... I have no problem with copyright owners collecting the ad revenue from these kind of videos as I've talked countless times on this channel. Sure I like it more when they decide to share the revenue with me but it's always different from one video to the next, from one company to another. But I just cannot understand the meaning of blocking a video? It doesn't do any good to anybody. Companies could make money of my reactions but they decide it's better just to block it and earn nothing? Doesn't make sense, and I promote their video/song for free. Anyway, most of these things are automated by algorithms that search for the audio/video that's protected by copyright so they can block illegal copies of the video. I understand that - that's to prevent anybody from just uploading copyright protected videos on their channel completely, and stealing it. However, that's clearly not the case here. So I've reached out to the copyright owner's company and explained that educational reaction/analysis/commentary videos fall into the category of fair use because I add some new value to the video (you can see the disclaimer in the description of my videos to find out more). Long story short, they understood my points and released their copyright claim and unblocked the video (there's a cool screenshot somewhere in my community tab on RUclips)!
Moral of the story - don't be afraid to fight for something you believe is right. A polite word (or e-mail) can go a long way!

RUclips copyright system sucks. And you can’t always say: “Oh it’s just a bot, what can they do”. Rick Beato made a couple of copyright related videos recently there he brings the facts that for example there are dosens of _employees_ in umg where all of their job is to watch and claim/strike youtube videos, also there are claims from obscure firms noone knows about, the list goes on. It's a folk song. The point of the song is that the girl is an orphan. They marry her, but no one can bless her. It comes to the river, which according to ancient belief was the boundary between the world of the living and the dead and asks the deceased parents for blessings. Where it is sung in a whisper is like the words of a deceased mother, because in Russia since ancient times it was believed that the river is the border between the world of the living and the dead, as in the mythology of others countries. So the girl-orphan came to the river to tell the mother that she was being given away for the unloved, to a strange family, ask for blessings and cry.

Hello there!!!!I will answer your question,because I am Russian and will try to explain some of the features of the song and language..This song is an interpretation of an old Russian ritual song- the lament of an orphan bride.the meaning of the text is as follows-a young girl,an orphan,is married,the house is full of guests,but there is no one to bless her and she goes to the river,which according to ancient beliefs is the border between the world of the living and the dead.across the river, she calls to the spirit of her dead mother and asks for her blessing to marry.The name of the song translates into English as river.this is an affectionate address to the river.

@@aakashsuryi9098 as I said it is a traditional song so the composer is lost in the mists of time. Many people have sung it, there are quite a few versions from famous Russian singers on RUclips. The arrangement is also fairly traditional with Diana altering it very little to suit her voice more.

The story in the song is that an orphan girl is about marry into a family. In Russian folklore, rivers are boundaries between the world of the living and the world of dead, so the orphan girl goes to river to open up about sorrows and insecurities about having no one in the world and soon having a new family full of strangers as she tell her mother.
The starting of the song is her calling out to the River, the middle of song i.e after the whisper is the conversation between her and the river, the people in black are the dead relatives, the climax i.e her on the boat is when after the river consoles her. I'm not actually sure if the girl goes on to marry or if the river takes her in according to the story.
This resonates much more when you learn that Diana herself was an orphan and is adopted. Her learning singing was actually to help her learn speech since she couldn't talk at the proper age as result of abuse and neglect from her alcoholic birth mother.

First off great reaction. When I first heard Diana sing I to was basically speechless. Couldn't believe what I was hearing. I wanted to research more about her and her unusual voice and I found her website along with many videos of her being interviewed. Her infanthood is very sad and if it weren't for her foster mother we wouldn't be talking about Diana right now. Long story short, Diana was having speech troubles when her foster mother adopted her at age 3 so at age 4 Diana was taken to singing lessons with hopes it would help with her speech and well you now see the results of that lol. If you haven't yet or if you have the time I suggest looking up more about Diana. Her story is quite amazing.
One more thing I would like to add is I watched an interview of Diana where she said when she sings, she becomes the lyrics of the song or becomes the song and like you and others have mentioned, you can really see it when she sings through her storytelling. I've never had any singer have the ability to pull me into a song like Diana does but when she sings, I to feel like I become apart of the song while she sings and with some songs I can't even understand what she is saying lol. It's incredible. Also, if you pay close attention at the end when she stops singing, you can see it takes her a bit to snap out of it when the song is over. It's also evident how she never flinches when the judges hit their buttons. Some contestants will smile or will get more into the song once they see judges press their buttons but not Diana. I can't wait to she how she does when she's older. I just hope I have a chance to experience her incredible voice in person singing but I live in the US so could be a while maybe lol. Cheers.

Rechenka is pretty much a world class performance by a teenager. She's amazing. i've seen this many times and just recently figured out that when they pick her up they place her in that boat. I always thought it was weird that they only picked her up for a moment. I thought someone may have blown their hamstring....but I digress. This didn't translate well when I used Yandex or Google so if any Russians translate this, мое извинение.

14 years old on the video! ! ! Diana had a tough childhood but thanks to her foster mother Irina Ponik (you can see her on the video, woman in the glasses ) everything has changed for the better! She was an alcoholic and was constantly beaten, once even tried to drown her in the bathroom. One night, neighbors found Diana with a broken left collarbone on the street. Diana was sent to an orphanage, and her mother was deprived of parental rights. Irina Ponik, who adopted her, worked in the orphanage, but Diana was so afraid that her own mother might take her away from her new family that the foster mother decided to move to Tolyatti, many thousands of kilometers from where they lived before. Diana had problems with speech, she stuttered a lot. The foster mother was advised to teach her to sing, which could help solve her stuttering problem. In this way, Diana got into music school for singing at the age of 5, which not only helped her, but also turned out to be her vocation.

In Russian, there is a diminutive form for nouns. "Реченька" (pronounced like Rechenka) is just a diminutive form for the word "river" ("Река" in Russian). That is, Diana refers to the river with tenderness in her song.
Yep, we have that too, in Croatia "rijeka" means river, but a diminutive would be "rijekica" (almost the same as rechenka) which would mean small river.

I know when my Russian friends talk to their wives they put the ka on the end of their names and it means something like little darling in English . You can feel it in the tone ))

This song is a hundred and a half years. Russian folk art. The main difficulty was not even the text, but the fact that this song was sung by a very respected singer about 40 years ago. The same level, you have Whitney Houston. Later she sang this song in rock style and nobody else took up this story. It's complicated, sad, technically complicated and you can't make any money on it.There will be enough Russian folk songs for Diana's whole life. It is not a problem. The difficulty is to sing a song from the 18th or 19th century in such a way that it would be interesting for a modern viewer.

She sounds like a contralto similar to Toni Braxton, but sounds more middle eastern with her phrasing. The only other true contralto I knew of was Phyllis Hyman, a spectacular vocalist that many people don't know but was my favorite singer. She took her life in 1996 and I cried like a baby. I can't deny this young woman's talent.

I find it interesting that her sound, and her phrasing, sounds different depending on the language she's singing in. The thought occurred that she rolls her R's in Russian, and she growls in English but they are similar in comparison of the emphasis.

The horses stand in the courtyard, the guests are gathered, the wedding celebration begins. In Russia it was customary sang sad songs at the weddings to scare away evil. That should chase away evil spirits and bring good luck. Such songs were called “weeping.”

Diana has something mysterious, mystical in her voice. She is a dramatic contralto, the rarest contralto-type. Dimash is the universe, but Diana is the earth, our home... and when you hear her voice, you feel like, she has wrapped you in a warm velvet blanket and serving you a cup of hot, dark chocolate.
Diana was born May 2003. 31 in Arsenyev in the Far East Russia. She didn't have a happy start in life. The woman who gave birth to her, had 12 pregnancies, only Diana survived... and she did not love her child, mistreated her severely and tried to drown her. Relatives found the child with a broken collarbone in the street and took the 3-year-old girl to a children's home shortly thereafter. Finally there she found love... from Irina Ponik, who worked as a massage therapist and treated children from the orphanage. Irina Ponik and her daughter Nastya fell in love with Diana. Taking a child into the family was of course not easy for Irina... when she was 5 ys old, so she became Diana's 'real mother'. Diana has lived in a poor but loving family. Diana was lagging in her speech development and even stuttered, she received singing lessons on the a doctor's advice.
In 2012, the family moved thousands of kilometers to Togliatti, because Diana was full of fear, that the woman, who gave her birth, would take her away.
Diana's voice and sense of rhythm were extraordinary even as a little girl and so, she convinced with her talent in over 50 national and international competitions. Her confidence grew, her voice continued to develop, and Diana's stage costumes swallowed up the family budget. So, her mother completed sewing courses and has been sewing all the clothes herself since then.
One day Diana was asked to take part in competitions farther away, so that other children would have a chance to win.

To the general surprise, none of the judges turned around but the whole audience gave 'standing ovation'. The next day, a huge scandal broke out in social medias. People demanded for Diana's participation in the competition.
In 2018 and 2019, a unique international competition 'You are Super', especially for adopted and orphaned children, was launched in Moscow. Diana took part and won. These performances were broadcast nationwide, uploaded to RUclips and made Diana known worldwide. She now has many millions of fans around the world. The final of the international singing competition for children 'You are Super' took place in the Kremlin Palace. The winner of the season will be determined by a 6-day public vote. Igor Krutoi, mentor and jury member of the competition, gifted Diana an apartment in Moscow. So, she was able to continue her vocal training with the best teachers like Professor Olga Donskaya (videos on RUclips).
The break of voice made Diana’s voice darker and deeper. She worked hard to get the lost high notes back and has expanded her vocal range, currently from D3 - D6... and it will go on. Her genres are folk-rock, folk-pop, jazz, soul, blues, soldier songs and Diana-stile. She likes to paint and draw, so much that we can be glad that she decided to sing… But did you notice she holds a microphone only in the right-hand? The left-hand underlines and paint, what she is singing. Diana puts her whole soul into each song. That all makes her performances special and unique.
But she's not just a great singer and storyteller, she's also a humble, intelligent and hardworking young woman, who loves her family and appreciates, what they sacrifice for her. She loves her fans (they are 'Friends' to her) and she is grateful, that they helped to improve her home studio. On RUclips Prof. Donskaya und Diana also regularly answers the many questions of her Friends. Her Russian Friends chosen Diana as "National Treasure" (no official title).
In her home studio, she is currently experimenting (Corona time) a lot with different music genres and performing on both large and small stages.
2020 Diana graduated from school and in September she has become a student at the Russian Institute of Theater Arts (similar to Juilliard). She studies in the specialty "Variety Artist". She is already composing songs and we will definitely hear her own song soon.
She will only take part in major competitions if invited. Such competitions require a lot of time, effort and strength. As a result, the participants later often have major educational gaps and problems. Diana is a smart young woman. She focuses on her studies, her voice and expanding her repertoire. She is 17 yrs., Of course, she also wants to cast a spell on more younger people than before.
