Well that is actually the idea. Probably not all in one go, but over the coming months I hope to do most of the parts to a full suit or at least a solid partial suit in this theme, and others in the future
Hey Folks! It's really great to finally be producing content for our fans, old and new. I'm just now learning how to shoot and edit videos so I'm totally open to input on how I can improve. I've got a lot of videos planned for this year but I'll be doing some fan requests along the way as well so make your voice heard if there's something you really want to learn about, or a project theme I should make a tutorial for, or any questions and I might do some Q&As too.
Man I got to get my leather tools out. All we did in leather class was belts and arm bands. This is the kind of stuff I would of wanted to do. Thank you for making this video. I know how labor intensive it was to make it.
I am actually already an accomplished leathercrafter, I was just binging your videos for the interesting patterns, the edge patterns and the chill vibes, but actually as I was watching you remind me that I wanted to bevel the edges of the project I was currently doing before painting, so I graved all the things I starting beveling and doing the edges while watching. So just for that I am goinf to subscribe XD thank you for the reminder
I've been making small leatherworking projects for a few years now, gradually moving up to full armor. I'm definitely going to be making a helmet now, and I think I'll attempt snaps (which is so frustrating in fabric I can't even imagine it in leather). Thank you so much for this video, it was really awesome to watch, and the end result is beautiful!
Thank you for taking the time to show the steps and processes involved. The editing for speeding up, cutting out once the audience has a good idea of a step, and audio was very well done. I especially appreciate your break down of the tools, materials, and equipment involved from the crafting to the tech. Very glad to have seen this come across the front page and happily subscribing to see what else you create! Thank you for sharing the video.
I used to work at Tandy ages ago in my home state of KY before the store shut down. Leather work is therapeutic, and I must say the inclusions of the 'mistakes' really sets this video to the highest standard of "it will happen, you can't avoid it" Bravo! and Simple Beautiful Helmet.
I love this. I just wish I had access to leatherworking tools in some fashion without just having to commit to buying into the hobby completely without any idea of knowing whether or not I will actually like it. This is super awesome though and you do a really wonderful job making this not just look easy but possible for anyone to learn.
I've been teaching apprentices for years and these are designed exactly for the purpose of teaching people while still being interesting and cool. And I am deliberately making them approachable for those without a lot of tools. You don't even have to tool it. All you need is a hammer and something to cut with and you can make this helmet if you get some leather.
Bro, you just answer a world of questions for me. This has to be one of the best leather working tutorials on RUclips. Subscribed! You will be at 100k in a year if you keep doing these!
Its my mates birthday comin up and he is an absolute fantasy geek. Thanks. Keep it up mate it looks awesome.

That was a really good video sir. Yesterday was my first time in an Tandy Leather store and it was spectacular. I've never done any leather working of any kind, but i'd really like to get into it. It's such a neat craft that produces artful yet functional and practical products and wears. Thanks for sharing!

What?!? When did you start a RUclips channel?? I have been a HUGE fan of your work for years and have missed seeing them since I deleted my FB. Tutorials from Prince Armory ... am I dreaming?!
RUclips randomly recommended me one of your videos. I'm not into cosplay or LARPing but I play a lot of video games so I can appreciate finely crafted pieces of armor -- and the stuff you make are exquisite! You are very talented. Can't really support by buying patterns or whatnot (they'll be wasted on me LOL) but I've since subscribed to this channel and shared your videos to everyone I thought might appreciate them.
The one thing left-handed people may want to know is that using right-handed scissors will scuff up your top edges and points because blade closest to the edge pushes down and not up like it is using them right-handed. It almost drove me crazy because my edges were ugly. I fixed it by using a box cutter or letting my right-handed wife cut them out. Thank you for the inspiration. I have started making your spaulders as my first ever leatherworking project.

Came to this channel after seeing Punished Props holster build with Bjorn who mentioned he was moving to come apprentice under you. I absolutely understand why! This build is absolutely top notch. Exciting to binge watch through the rest of your videos :D. Only video / audio tip would be decrease background music volume when you get into explaining something. Around 24:55 is a good example of where narrating and music clashed.
Lovely work, always liked the look of leather-craft. The video is well thought out, Good descriptive talk through, although I would probably shorten some parts like the paper cutting, and all the bevelling, we don't need to see examples of every piece done, it just makes the video longer and I found that I skipped parts. Personally, I think it is a great project and above all that you are delivering a great video, but also a lot of teachings. I am one of those who believe that knowledge should be shared, therefore I congratulate you it is a great final product.
love how you show everything in the video, by that i mean how u do every piece and not just do 1 then show them all done, video might be a little longer because of it but i like it that way
Yo this has been SUPER helpful and has given me dozens of idea's about how to go about my current piece of cosplay (doing the helmet soon). Just one criticism to give, whenever you're speaking in the video, could you maybe just lower the volume of the music just a wee bit? 41:00 It might just be me, but this was a part in the video where I had trouble hearing you half of the time due to the music being so loud. I mean, the music choice was great and very enjoyable, but I very much prefer your voice and being able to understand what you are trying to say. Again, thanks for doing this! Edit: Oh, and I instantly subbed, not for the free pattern because I think I missed it, but just for future content. Thanks! Edit 2: I just realized you've already been told this by other people so I assume that the whole criticism remark wasn't necessary. On a side note, saw your portfolio on your website, and my jaw just dropped. It all looks SOOOO GOOOD. Just wanted to say that. :)
Great, glad it helped. Hope to get more videos out soon. And yes, the audio levels thing was an accident. What actually happened was part of my voice recording was too loud at the start so I lowered the whole track a bit and I think I missed adjusting parts of the music as well.
I legit fell asleep the first time watching this, but when I woke up I immediately rewatched the video. I didn't know how to feel about this since I've never worked with leather and never plan to, but this is just plain awesome

This is great! You could explain ten procedures then have like a 15-30second timelapse then skip to wear you have finished doing it on all the pieces bc it is a lot of repetition even with the timelapse. I love the music and great editing skills really your doing a great job
Ya its really confusing bc you can't meet everyone wants. You just have to stick with what YOU thinks is right for your channel. Another option is to do a mix of both. You can have the long videos like this one but then you can have 10-15minute-ish tutorial videos on the one subject that you are talking about. That way if people want to watch a long video they have the option and if people want to watch a shorter video they also have that option. Also having some shorter videos will make it easier on you for the editing side of things since the videos won't require quit as much work. Thank you for responding and have a good day!!
It's so interesting to watch, you explain every step clearly and easy for the lay-person to understand and follow. I can't wait to see all of your videos, please keep it up!
Just picked up leatherworking a few months ago. This video has been tremendously helpful. Thank you so much! I'll have to grab a couple of your patterns later.
I’m almost done with mine, just got the first coat of stain done. Thank you for everything. I’ve done a lot of little things but this is my first big project. Learned a lot, like trim your fingernails if you’re going to handle wet leather lol.
What I think would be really cool would be to have the tutorials and patterns for a full set of armor, obviously over many videos, and I would imagine spanning several months, but still! I consider you to be the best leather crafter I know of, your work screams with style and professionalism, and I would buy every one of those templates. One piece down!
Yeah I might carry on with this theme for some of the future tutorials to eventually have a full suit but I like variety so it may take time since I"m sure I'll switch it up and go with other themes too. But this style is indeed great for beginners imo
Completely new to leather working here. However, I have had some exposure in the past. Enough at least to follow along and understand your instructions. I really enjoyed your Bracers and Spaulders videos. I honestly believe I would start with the bracers, then the spaulders and after some mistakes, lol, attempt this Helm. Thanks a lot for your video's. I can't wait to give this a go.
@Prince ArmoryI notice that while the stains are different in your three projects, the design is very much similar and I assume that is on purpose to allow a "set" appearance.I do have a couple questions....1) For those of us with longer forearms, how would you suggest adding length to the bracers to add one more plate?2) Are you considering, or have you done, a chestplate of similar design to complete the set? I can see your display is set around chainmail, but I think a tooled Chestplate would be outstanding and really complete this design.
I loved making this Helmet. I had never done leather work before but always wanted to try. I used the skills and pattern concepts to style a bow using similar techniques which turned out awesome. I use the helmet for combat archery and people always comment how good it looks. I always mention your channel. All the best to you and your excellent work.
You might try a hook razor for the rough cuts. They are disposable razor blades that are extremely sharp but safe. They are often used for vinyl flooring.
your videos are very simple and easy to understand, I don't even do leatherworking and i'm able to understand very clearly. I think anyone with a basic idea of crafting and tools and the ability to google things should be able to accomplish your builds given enough practice.. that being said... maybe a list of required/bonus tools at the beginning for those actually interested in replicating this?
Dude, since you've done this, you'll have to do the whole armor, at least that, right?
What do you think others?
Well that is actually the idea. Probably not all in one go, but over the coming months I hope to do most of the parts to a full suit or at least a solid partial suit in this theme, and others in the future

subscribe. go to their main page and under the section "Subscribers only" click that video. If its not there, imperialarmories.us3.list-manage.com/subscribe?u=f7e0dc81b67dc119dca3b06d4&id=3c1c873e3c this is the link i was given on that video.
I got the email, but the link to download the pattern just leads to this video. Were you able to DL the pattern from that email?
Are you sponsored by Tandy leather now?
@@brentlarsen6974 yes
@@brentlarsen6974 I actually messed up the first few links, hit me up with a message or email and I'll send it
This is great! You could explain ten procedures then have like a 15-30second timelapse then skip to wear you have finished doing it on all the pieces bc it is a lot of repetition even with the timelapse. I love the music and great editing skills really your doing a great job
Half of people say they want longer vids, half say they want shorter, what's a guy to do? I just aim for the middle.
"I am Apollyon. I bring war."
i sat through all the video and loved every thing about the helmet thank you for putting this out now i can try some pattern ideas.
😍😀😍
😀
Just purchased! Going to Tandys after work for the leather. Cant wait to get started SO DOPER!!
When you realize he cut out parts, sped it up and it still took 45:00
Yeah, long afternoon project to be sure!
Thanks for replying back to me. love your channel btw I subscribed after the first video I watched
It's so interesting to watch, you explain every step clearly and easy for the lay-person to understand and follow. I can't wait to see all of your videos, please keep it up!
Great to hear, thank you!
Just picked up leatherworking a few months ago. This video has been tremendously helpful. Thank you so much!
I'll have to grab a couple of your patterns later.
This is youtube gold! Thankyou so much for making this video. Fantastic tutorial, love the chill music.
I’m almost done with mine, just got the first coat of stain done. Thank you for everything. I’ve done a lot of little things but this is my first big project. Learned a lot, like trim your fingernails if you’re going to handle wet leather lol.
Congrats! Let me know how it went, post it on our fb page or twitter
if all tutorial videos were this good.... The music is great. I'm buying the pattern
Sweet, thanks so much!
Great video. Very awesome color and design.
WOW! this is so awesome!!!
i was so in struggle to biuld my helmet but this makes it sooo much easier.
Thank you so mutch!!
I love the craftsmanship its something made by hand and to me it has sentimental value✊
And THIS people is how you do a tutorial. Great video mate, awesome helmet.
Wow! i just watched a couple of your videos in my lunch breaks (on fast forward). You create some amazing stuff. Well done sir!
Your video was very relaxing to watch. Beautiful work. I think I'll learn a lot here. 😊
You mean the ones you can get in the utility knife style? I do recommend those too but don't have any on hand at the moment.
amazing artistry, I've never seen this type of leatherwork before I found your channel
I have never had my edge beveler slide that smoothly. I need to check out the one you are using.
Looks amazing. Reminds me of that armor from Elder Scrolls
your videos are very simple and easy to understand, I don't even do leatherworking and i'm able to understand very clearly. I think anyone with a basic idea of crafting and tools and the ability to google things should be able to accomplish your builds given enough practice.. that being said... maybe a list of required/bonus tools at the beginning for those actually interested in replicating this?
I list most of the things in the description.
