  • Saucony Peregrine 14 review - first run and first impressions. I've got a lot of history with Saucony's Peregrine trail running model and the Peregrine 10 has gone down in history as one of my favourite trail shoes of all time. The update to the 11's was OK. I definitely preferred the 12's more but the 13's felt a lot more like the brilliant Peregrine 10 to me. This time round the Peregrine 14 has only had a very subtle update, so let's get them on my feet and take them for a run!
Thanks for watching, we'll see you in the next video and as always - stay safe and keep on running!

Peregrine 13 GTX carried me through Moscow’s super snowy and ice-rink icey winter, it’s amazing. Any distances, any paces. Just amazing.

Hitting the nail on the head regarding the Peregrine/Exodus eclipse - I hope the Xodus 3 advances things a little. Peregrine's will always be a great trail shoe, that bombproof grip always provides the fun. Thanks for a great review, always good to get a great in depth review and honest comparison!

I find the Peregrine 13's to be a little more stable than the Xodus Ultra 2's. They both make a sucking squeak sound, though, which is embarrassing as I walk along the high street after a run. Thank you for another helpful review, and top notch music, as always :)

Peregrine 13s have been a favorite for me- especially in dry Colorado. Loved the XU2, but traction really let me down in wet mountain race at Ben Nevis 50k (as well poor upper durability). Going to give the Merrell Agility Peak 5 a try for this season's long distance runs

Just got had to chuck my peregrine 12’s away as they had a massive hole in them, I picked up that deal a couple of weeks ago for the 13s you mentioned in the video hoping I love them as much as do the 12’s.

Fantastic review. Very helpful. One thing I love about the 13s is the 4mm thin tongue, so I am ordering more of those before they disappear. One thing I see in the video that you didn't mention: it looks like the upper on the 14 may be made of fewer pieces of fabric compared to the 13, and fewer seams should mean better durability. Still, I like the weight and the tongue of the 13s, and just picked up 2 more pair at $70/ea in the US. Very helpful video!

Loved the Peregrine 10s, replaced them with tge 12s but was really disappointed that the heel cup quickly wore out. I put just over 300 backpacking miles on my first pair before I felt the need to replace them.

The Peregrine is still close to my heart after running in the 10 for my first ultra, but as you said, the Xodus has really taken over. I know the Peregrine is aimed at faster and problably shorter trail runs, but the Xodus versatility means that the Peregrine has lost its appeal slightly, still a great shoe, and of course cheaper than the Xodus.

They offer the Peregrine in a wide size which I am loving. It's not like the Altra wide, which is so big you have to size down, but they work for my very hard-to-fit wide feet. Snug, but break in very quickly and lots of toe box room.

A cracking review as always! Are you getting the new Inov-8 Trailfly in for review soon? I'm looking for an ultra shoe for the 100k Jurassic Coast Challenge and would be keen to hear your thoughts. They felt great at The Running Show when visiting the Inov-8 stand.

Hi, which one of the latest peregrines is the closest to peregrine 10 in ground feel? 12? 13 has disappointingly stiff and numb feel compared to 10. How is exodus ultra on that regard? Really enjoy your videos. Are you maybe planning reviews on la sportiva akasha II and bushido II?

I'd be interested to see how long the cushioned heal lasts as my 13's wore holes far to quickly (less than 100km). Love the shoe but I do need a £130 shoe to last me more than 4 long runs!

Hey Loyd, i got 2 pairs of the 13s and still got 2 pairs of the 12s. I went on a 6 miler on my 13s and had some problems with my left heel. Ran a 12 mile race in them, and my heel was killing me .they are absolutely not comfortable on my heel . When im going up hills, it feels like they are stabbing me. Now i have 28 miles in them, and i realized they do not like for me to run up the hills thats when they stab me.😢 now for my 2nd pair they are not as bad but there's still dissatisfied comfort. I have a 14 miler tomorrow im going to haft to put my 12s on 2 race so sad . Not sure what im going switch to but i believe my luck has run out on Saucony peregrine s 😢.

Had some 13's as well as several pairs of the XU 2. The outsole is just not good, they need to fix it, disappointing to see it hasn't changed. Lacks durability, super slippery on wet rocks and holds a ton of mud.

Yes, saucony need to change the outsole material to vibram mega grip or asics rubber, I like all peregrine line except traction on wet hard surface.

I completely agree about the 13s being a let down. They just slide out on rocks. The fit is so like the Salomon's but just don't have the grip to match.

Got a Peregrine a few years back and it was very stiff and I couldn't wear cause it caused me blisters on the heel. Decided to try Peregrine 13 and went up a half size, from 42,5 to 43, but found the same stiffness but it got a little bit better after few runs. Like it now but have to be careful when going up steep hills, then I have to be careful not to get blisters on my heels. Anyone else experienced the same?

I bought Peregrine 14 after many used 12. Peregrine 14 is not even close to 12 in terms of comfort both physical and thermal. They are way worse IMO. I've got big blisters just after short walk, not even running. Never had such issues with Peregrine 12. I cannot even imagine running in this shoes.
