- Having sat out the previous day on the boat due to heavy wind and rain, I move off mid-morning continuing my journey to Foxton Locks on the Leicester Section of the Grand Union Canal. Where am I going to moor up today?

That view over bridge 29 was gorgeous. I paused it to enjoy for a few minutes. Such a contrast to that noisy and not very beautiful carriageway bridge after it. Thankfully there are more of the nice bridges. Looks like you found another perfect mooring spot, Alan!
Hi Tim, there are some lovely mooring spots to be found. Unfortunately modern traffic requires modern bridges, which are out of keeping with the canal’s ‘olde worlde’ charm. Glad you enjoyed watching. Cheers

Very nice video again Alan. I always enjoy seeing the countryside and the canal life. We share our RV travels on our channel and similar to what you said about stopping early, we plan to travel no more that 240 ish miles on travel days as it just is too tiring. We aim to enjoy the travel, not stress ourselves out. So good for you. Stay safe friend.

Loved seeing life on the canal. Seems everyone is friendly with all the hellos. It is sad that I started humming “Downtown “ when you mentioned the song from the 60’s. I didn’t think I was that old! Looking forward to your continued adventures.
On the whole boaters are very pleasant and helpful to each other but there are exceptions. I always liked the song Downtown. Thanks for watching, cheers.

When you passed under the A14 Dual Carriageway, on my laptop speakers, it sounded like horse hooves clopping along. I couldn't help but think of the old days when there were horses pulling narrowboats along the towpath.

My Narrowboat Venture I’m sue to leave the Navy in 4 years at the age of fifty and whilst my colleagues are all scrambling around panicking about what career to do next I have made the decision after several canal holidays (4this year!) to buy a boat and retire very early and be a continuous cruiser and see how things pan out, kids all grown up and single again after second divorce so nothing stopping me !

Thanks Alan it's amazing how busy the A14 gets. I remember before it was built the traffic jams trying to get through Harborough so always used to cut through the villages Sibbertoft etc which was a lovely run to Kettering I really want to bring the Swamp Duck to Foxton it will be like bringing her home. I'm off to do some filming on the River Ure and some of the lovely water falls there. Take care. Alan

Hi Mark, I'm not in any way offended, I wear that neckerchief in a different guise and I find it handy to keep my neck warm on a chilly day. Someone else commented on the speed of boats passing me and I think I make a comment about that in the next video. Attached to the hooks are the fenders that dangle down on the side of the boat. One fender to one hook. The fenders used to be tied on but I didn't like that, so now I take them off when cruising and hook them back on when I moor up. Hope that explains, cheers. Take care

I love your channel and never miss a video. Is there anyway that you could pinpoint your location at the start of each video. The VLOG "Cruising the Cut' somehow posts Start Point and End Point of his cruises. Maybe show on a map . Anyway that is just my thoughts.

I've spent hours trying to work out how it's done, Sometimes vloggers sort of fly from one point to another. If I get time, I'll take another look. Snazzy cravatte there. I've only just now noticed you took in your fenders as you left the mooring. Do you always do so? Some of the other vloggers I watch leave their fenders in place while they move.
Thank you Brian. I don’t cruise with my fenders down, as they could snag on something, especially as the lines run down from the roof of the boat. If they were fixed at gunwale level there would be less risk of that. Fenders could also get caught in a single width lock, particularly if the lock sides are uneven. So usually, I take my fenders off. Cheers Alan

Have you been satisfied with the solar panels and their power production?
Hi Larry. As far as I can tell the panels have been doing a good job. The issue has been with the batteries, which haven't been holding their charge. I shall be reporting further on the batteries in a future vlog and let everyone know what I've done. Cheers

There's nowt wrong with a cheese topped roll with cheese in. As to why they're popular witn narrowboaters, who can say. Cheese ooops cheers.
dude what is the average depth of that canal
I really don't know, canals tend to be saucer shaped, and deeper in the middle, probably about 4 feet (1.2 metres). It will vary over the length of the canal.
