    As a journeyman heavy duty mechanic who’s worked in the rental industry for 10 years in various roles, I HIGHLY recommend you put EVERY brain cells 150% capacity and think before pulling the trigger on buying dozers and renting them.

      That's true, you would just have to put in your business plan to plan for preventative maintenance and general maintenance on the equipment.

    • @bobdhitman
      @bobdhitman 8 месяцев назад +15

      @@Thebluesky0311 - what’s the game plan if the dozer breaks down in the middle of the customer’s job at 2am? How are you going to forecast major parts replacement such as an engine? Are you going to be profitable if you send all your repair and maintenance to an outside vendor? There’s a lot to this game and there’s big players who do this extremely well. 10 years of experience in this domain would make me hesitant starting my own rental company if I had the money.

      @@Thebluesky0311 you sure do seem to think it's just that simple... ever seen people operating rented equipment? They beat the absolute dogpiss out of the equipment. I've never rented a piece of equipment without something breaking. And I usually try to take it easy on the equipment. All the people who used to rent in my area have stopped over the years due to shitty renters.

    I have been in heavy equipment operation for almost 30yrs. I owned 2 of my own dozers. Where I live there are several rental companies that rent all kinds of dozers etc. It is a very high dollar start up cost!!! CDL+ Semi+ Dozer. Cost you at least $50,000 to start for old stuff. New stuff would be close to $200 to $300,000!! Dozer rental would be very limited clients list most people just hire a owner operator.

    5:50 Elevator repair is done by a small number of companies who specialize in various brands and are often affiliated with the manufacturers. It requires specialized training that is mostly offered through apprenticeships at those companies. The companies are both union and non-union employers.
    Such a business require various certifications (by state) and high amounts of liability insurance. In other words it is not an entry level trade or a business that is good for a startup company. The good news is that they are always hiring, but you'll be on a waitlist for many months or even years. Also bear in mind that it has a high rate of injury and death from falls. Apparently the workers don't like to follow safety rules.

I had to laugh at the "high rate of injury and death from falls" however. That is not true, as Elevator and Escalator Installers and Technicians don't even make the top 25 most dangerous jobs in the US.

You could simply pass that on to the customer in a mobilization fee. I’d say the problem with this model would be the wear and tear on your equipment due to it be a rental and inexperienced people jumping in it.

    Some great ideas. A few are not that easy to start. Installing generators in Ontario Canada will require an electrician with a masters ticket. That takes apx. eight years to obtain the red seal certification. Bulldozer rental. A bulldozer will cost $250.000 plus. Add in the transportation at $150 an hour with a minimum of a three hour float rental, plus the insurance and general repairs. At $2000 a week your not going to make a great deal of money for the risk involved.

    Do NOT get into elevator repair without going through a 5 year minimum apprenticeship. I’m an electrician and work with guys who build and service them, it’s like 3 trades in one. HIGHLY skilled and they are usually the only trade getting paid more than us. Also the liability can be very risky

    Elevator repair would need a professional in the field with the appropriate skill and a accreditation, plus the liability insurance would be very high.

    Some of these are alright, some are crazy. Bulldozer rental? Just drive that down to your customers house, I guess....Elevator repair? Sure bro, just waltz into that business and ignore the 4 year certification it takes.

  • @DavidSiniawski
    @DavidSiniawski Месяц назад

    Well, this is an interesting video although I must say. And I'm not being negative that a lot of the things that you suggested. Today's Doctor research really or not practical. Because, as an example with the generator or the auto-repair and I should do the work yourself. You cannot hire other people. To do that there's so much liability. And most people are not going to care about a project. Already work ethic like you would so one mess up could really destroy your business. Although I do understand where you're coming from about thinking out of the box. And doing the services that nobody else really wants to and that there is a need for but there are hell of a lot more services. You can offer that Are actually enjoyable and rewarding. And you can make way more money

      I use keyword tools like ahrefs and semrush. These tools let you see a ton of search data. They are pretty expensive tools but Ahrefs has a 7 day, $7 free trial that let's you play around and test it out.

      I use Ahrefs.com (they have a $7, 7-day trial that you can sign up for to do some quick keyword research for cheap). I'm new to RUclips so I don't have a bunch of input on finding RUclips niches. You can do RUclips specific keyword research on Ahrefs though.

    Fixing elevators??? I think you need some sort of permit or license to work on elevators in most states. There's a tremendous liability to working on elevators. I can't imagine what your insurance would cost alone.

    Iam confused with most of these jobs that are mentioned don't you need to be insured or something because let's face the reality there are people that will ask you to do a job but the next day they will say you broke it now I want to sue you even though you did everything correctly?
