One of the biggest upgrades on the newer version wasn't mentioned (I don't think): stainless steel frets. I have - and love - the first G290, and am kinda envious of the upgrades but these upgrades also sent the price point beyond what I'm able to budget for.

  • @timwhite5562

A lot of people who aren't familiar with V profile necks expect to feel a distinct V shape, they expect there point in the middle as opposed to the roundness of a C. While that's present with a lot of Vs, it's not in all of them. The V refers to the shoulders more than the back. When it's a medium or hard V you'll definitely feel the point, on a soft V you probably won't.
I was confused myself at first because I had V profile necks that were referred to as Soft V, then I got a Strat with a 57 soft V and there was s no point at all. I thought they mischaracterized the softV on the 57, now I know that it actually IS a softV, and it was the other guitars that were being described as "Soft" when they were really medium, hard or modern V. The Fender Soft V is best described as being like the U necks on old Telecaster that they soften the shoulders. The point on the V is really a byproduct of that.

  • @timwhite5562

It was a very good move to go with alder, the ash was the only thing that kept me from seriously considering one. I'd prefer mahogany or Koruna, but that's just a preference because of the other guitars I own. The alder is probably more versatile. This is a killer sessions/grab and go workhorse.
The only thing I'd change is the pickups. I want to get a set of Fluence classics, in a million years I'd never think I'd like active pickups, I don't even like modern voice traditional pickups, but Im really impressed with what they do. This would be the perfect guitar to put them in.

Dang, I didn't realize Cort was in the electric game. My first guitar like 20 years ago was a cheap Cort acoustic that I actually just took from my sister because she never touched it. I have a LP Std, 2 PRSs, a Schecter, an Eastman T486, etc., and absolutely have ZERO regrets about the Cort. I'd easily put it up against $2,500 $3,000 guitars confidently just about any day. I completely get it if people just can't deal with the name & headstock, or "need" a premier brand/label ... I am like that about a lot of things. But in terms of build quality, playability, tones, versatility, and looks... these damned things are crazy values. Now ... about that logo... :-/
