Hi, I watched all your how to content and I have a question about the sauce. You do very slight variations on making the sauce, milling vs crushed tomatoes and you mentioned on one you added pepper and garlic. Can you define what is the closest to Sally's sauce? I had Sally's tomato pie and I could just drink it, I thought it was that good. Love all your content, you are a very good instructor and you and your review buddies are a real kick to watch, you guys are so fun to watch. thanks, Jon up north where the pizza is no where near New Haven Apizza!
Sally's uses 7/11 tomatoes...salt, oregano...it's simple, people make it hard and look for the secret "sauce" Thanks for the feedback on the videos too...
I've been eating it since 2005 out here in Nevada at a place called Settebello in the town of Henderson. It is still the best VPN style pizza I have had in the states for my taste buds. The low-humidity just works magic for the crust out here. Now that we have real pizza makers here taking advantage of the desert climate you can tell the difference from the 90s and early 2000s till nowadays out here trust me! This style of pizza got too popular the past decade IMHO just like Sriracha and isn't up to par by most who make it. I love it so I would agree with you on how good it is but it in no way beats New Haven style for me since I grew up 20 minutes from Sally's & Pepe's so I am not giving an opinion without any merit to it Lol I was in New Haven in the summer of 2019 again for the 1st time in a while and I walked by Zeneli. It looked top notch no doubt but the slogan on the window just kind of turned me off. I'm all for advertising your place to get it noticed amongst a couple of pizza giants but when it said something like "FINALLY GOOD PIZZA IN NEW HAVEN" that was just insulting to me for the other places that are legendary and been there for decades upon decades. I have no doubt Zeneli is probably excellent at making VPN style pizza or they wouldn't put themselves in that city on that street with that competition but c'mon now have a little class when you are just getting started LMAO
@@michaelderamo1866 I respect your opinion. Sally's and Pepe's are great. Sally's just opened a new location in Stamford, CT. Looking forward to checking that location out. They have the coal oven and everything. Looks legit.
It is the best in many ways. However, I’m not always in the mood for it. Sometimes you want a different pizza because it has a different texture. It’s the same situation in the world of bread too. France makes the best bread. But there times I want something different
I agree. I was born and raised in NY, I've lived in New Haven for the last 21 years..I love apizza; Sally's etc however, for all of the reasons you've stated above, when Neapolitan pizza is made properly, there is nothing comparable.

As much as I love New York and New Haven style pizza, Neopolitan pizza is the best. It's art. Technique, ingredients, fermentation....just beautiful.
