Hello Stefan, nice to see the silver button’s world debut! Congratulations again on 100K. 👍 Really enjoyed the Deckel commentary.
Your rivnut puller - with the interchangeable bushing - is very clever, thank you for the idea.
Those old bulletins are very cool. Congrats on the button!
Hi Stefan. I am one of the two people in the world not to know about “rivnuts”. I thank you for introducing them to me. They are now on my shopping list.
Also congratulations on reaching 100k subscribers. So very well deserved. 👏👏👍😀
Happy to see your play button in the shop. Thanks for all the great videos and the wisdom you share!
Been watching Stefan for years now. I click like before even watching😉
More UK here, keep 'em coming... Always a pleasure sir.
21st century version of the oily rag
LOL true - I have not even thought that way.
Good morning Stefan from Lincolnshire UK 😁
Good morning :-)
Congratulations on the button!
I love the old manuals, those black and white photos are so nostalgic takes you back. And congrats on the button, well deserved!
Great Rivnut trick.
Congratulations on the 100K subs, Stefan. Well done.
And I really like these Deckel bulletins.
Congrats on 100k, I've been watching since the very early days.. i don't know why you don't have a lot more subs really, you're a master in my books and I've learnt so much over the years, watching you make what I've always called jewellery.. you've always been an inspiration.. I'll shut up now, i don't want to give you a swell head 👍👍👍
These Deckel Bulletins are absolutely Gorgeous!
So many Ideas, so little time.. :)
I remember back in 2000-01 during my apprenticeship we had to wipe down all the machines in the shop every Friday with petroleum.
Good practice and definitely kept everything nice and clean.
Very classic friday task - My dad had to do gage bock maintenance on fridays. Check all gage blocks and wipe them down with vaseline.
Congratulation with 100k! Ive been following you since ToT glued your face to a paint brush about 7 years ago, I think. You've convinced me to buy a RF45 clone, it's been a game changer for me. Many thanks for the great entertainment and high quality information
Thank you!
You must’ve been there when I met him too. ToT. That guy. I just love hearing Stefan’s enthusiasm when he’s found love… good looking lathe too.
Congratulations on 100k!
I, too, congratulate you on getting to 100 K subscribers! Slowly but surely the secret of your channel is getting out!
Congratulations Stefan on the play button. I definitely will be implementing the tips you showed in this episode. Thank you 👍👍😎👍👍
Good morning Stephan! My husband and I have just sat riveted for nearly an hour watching your latest video! The book on Deckel sent to you by a viewer is absolute gold. What a wonderful thing to have. So much information and ideas and also showing the companies attention to detail. No wonder you were so delighted when your machine arrived! Cheers from Central Otago in New Zealand.
Hi nice video. I bought a 6 inch 6 jaw adjust true chuck from Shars. It is very well made and works great. Thanks for sharing.
… and a proper, printed «Handbuch»!
I love it.
Thanks for sharing EMO with us, Stefan.
That FPS mill is a beauty for sure!!!
Congratulations on receiving the plaque (and of course the 100,000 subscribers)! Thanks also for the shop tips.
Thanks for the update, always enjoy, and get new project ideas.
Ive been binge watching some of your older videos the last couple days......... I literally said "YES!!!" out loud when i seen there was a new video 😁😂
Congratulations on the 100k Stefan 😁
Great video,Stefan.Congratulations on 100K+ subscribers.Thank you.
Stefan, congratulations on the RUclips Silver Play Button. Well deserved in my view. I ALWAYS learn something while watching your videos. Interestingly, I just about drove by your front gate while we have been road tripping around Germany for the past month.
Regards,
Mark Presling, Australia
“…shower cabins with a spindle” 😂
Thats what they are! :D
Congratulations on 100k subscribers Stefan👍👍
The setups in the technical bulletin book look mostly mind bending!
Thank You!
Thanks Stefan, Loved the contrast from the latest and greatest of the EMO trade show followed by bulletins of the older classic Deckel machines - both out of my league but still fascinating.
Scored a couple of great ideas from the Deckel technical bulletins as you were paging through. More importantly, I offer my congratulations from the center of the US for your 100K subscribers - and best wishes for the next 100K.
Gratulation zu den 100,000 Abonnenten Stefan! Beste Grüße aus North Carolina 😁
Nice 100k, you deserve it.
Lets hope 200k comes soon enough. 👍
Congrats on the 100k milestone! You’ve never made a video that I didn’t want to watch 👍
Thank you very much!
Good job keeping 100k of us entertained and thirsting for more!
There are lots of channels on yt with more than 100k but very few machining channels except for Ave and Tot which have a high humour content and therefore crossover to people who maybe like mechanical stuff but aren’t necessarily machinists. So 100k for a hard core serious machining channel focused on small work, which is even more restrictive, is quite an achievement. This is certainly my favourite channel.
Thanks again for another interesting video. Lots of great ideas. Be safe in the shop!
McMaster sells "wrench driven" rivet nut tools that are quite a bit cheaper than the large, clunky plier type tools. They are also very low profile for tight access. They're around $35 and go from 4-40 up to 1/2". I've done hundreds of riv-nut installs with these and while it is a much slower way to install rivnuts, I like this method better because I've found that the plier type do not always set the rivnut all the way and subsequently the rivnut can spin when torqued on to either tighten or worse yet, when you go to loosen it after years.

These? Funny, I did not know they exist :-)
Thanks, I learned something!
Congratulations Stefan on 100k, well deserved! Love the Deckel trip.
ATB, Robin
This years EMO was the first time for me, only could go one day and now I understand why most say you should go atleast 2-3 days. It's absolutely massive!. Very impressed with all the machines and technologies shown. Especially liked the Mazak stand. Next time will go a bit longer. :)
Was just watching shoptalk #22, then this popped up. Stoked👍👌🇦🇺
Funnily enough, I was too - an older shop talk of Stephan's that is :-)
Hi Stefan, I've been following you for years and want to say thank you and congratulations on the 100k. We really do appreciate the time and effort you put into the videos and sharing your knowledge. Still miss the shaper though haha. Hope to see more shop projects in the future. Cheers, Matt
HA! Filming a shop/toolmaking project right now! Even with plans :D
Thank you so much for the rivnut tip! I am literally working on the side panel of my lathe just like you show in the video. I'm mounting rails for a pull out CNC panel. The snag is that I only have about 150mm gap to work in and spent a long time yesterday trying to get my M5 rivnuts in with the plier type tool. The handles on the tools are way too short to get the initial required leverage but still don't fit in the gap without starting at a bit of an angle. This all resulted in a minor thumb injury and some bad words. Today I'll try the nut/bolt/bearing method. Congratulations on your RUclips silver award, it's well deserved.
Congrats on 100k!
Those techical bullitins is like a lego catalog, in the end you want to build all of it
Gotta have them all! :-D
Good video stefan..thanks for your time
Congratts buddy! As well as another interesting vist to whats on Steph's mind.Enjoyed!
Hello from West Yorkshire, congratulations on the 100,000 subscriptions. Very well deserved.
And you reminded me to register for Mach 2024, always a good show, not been for some time, probably around 1998 when I first went.
thank you! Lots of Uk viewers today 👋
Congratulations. Strangely fascinating.
Excellent and thank you! Congratulations on 100k subs, well done. All the best from Panama.
great video Stefan - may need to dig my old bulletins out and go through
That technical bulletin is really cool, wish more companies back in the day did this.
Great video as always Stefan, thank you for uploading and congrats on the 100k milestone! You deserve it!👍👍
I like the Tupperware and sponge idea, it definitely more elegant than the dusty oily rag I normally use lol, I'm gonna give this a go. Hopefully the old lady doesn't get to mad at me for stealing a couple of her kitchen sponges. 😂
Well done on the subs
Display that 100K badge with pride. You earned it!
Congrats on your 100k. You are one of my all time favorite people to watch.
I would put a trap in the vacuum line to minimize any coolant or contaminates being drawn into the pump. But I am sure you know that already, thanks for sharing. Charles
Thanks a lot for the Inside View of EMO ! Awesome Machines, Wish i could ever do something Related with such Machines... Oh and By the Way Thanks for the nice Tip with the Strap down Clamps for the Grinding Vise! I got up at 6 today and my Neighbors sure where very excited to hear me Milling those two strips from C45 in the monring...Pics will follow in the Bude ! Cheers from Vienna
Lots of interesting tips thanks 😀
Gratuluję z okazji 100k subskrypcji.
Thank you Stefan
Excellent and fascinating video - thanks Stefan. Congratulations on reaching 100k subscribers - that's a big achievement for such and esoteric subject.
Thank you for sharing.
Congrats on the 100k subs, well deserved 👏
I had a KF12, very versatile machine but if you dont have any of the stock attachments it can be a bit of a monster for doing only standard milling ops. and in south africa you very seldom find them, let alone the bits. thy made really nice and versatile machines and very accurate.
Thanks for sharing 👍
Very enjoyable thank you
I’m about 30 minutes from IMST. I’ve gone to all of them since 2004
Interesting Deckel book thank you
Trade shows are a chore for me, but one must go on occasion to stay on top of new developments. I just went to Fabtech in Chicago. A huge Fabrication and Welding industry show here in the US. Time is indeed a valuable commodity. I only had two days and it was not near enough time to see everything. I had some specific vendors in mind and went to them first. And I also met up with many instagram folks I know. That part was fun. Cheers
Yeah, they are stressful and exhausting - I walked about 15km on that day.
Fabtech is something i follow on social media each time it is, quite fun to see the large scale fab equipment :-D
Stefan, you had us at "Bla bla bla".
In my experience, using a nut and bolt to tighten down the nutsert/rivnut, saves the heat break of breaking a rivnut tool.
Congratulations on the 100k subs Stefan.
Great video, 👍 You got some exercise at the trade show hope you had a good day out😅 Riv nut's have their applications but they need to have inner and outer serrations on the nut or they fail.Smaller size M4 M5 M6
Will snap the mandrel pieces so get spares😂
I'd be lucky to be able to afford admission to the show, but those are some gorgeous machines... 🤩
Well, the entry to the show is not expensive (Getting there can be a bear of course).
Good morning from Whitley Bay in north east England!
We are neighbours, I'm in Houghton le Spring.
youre from south of the river... neighbours maybe but friends never ! chuckle in jest! @@googleuser859
14:00 Be sure to paint or seal wood that will be in contact with bare metal. Unsealed wood will hold moisture, and if you live anywhere that has humid air at times, you may get rust where they touch.
Thanks! The wood is oiled, i found that that is enough to protect the bare metal it contacts.
Stefan I love you mate, your enthusiasm is contagious, as is your love of machine porn! 😊 Best channel, thank you so much. I hope all your dreams. Come, true. And. Congrats on 100,000.
Very very good , greetings fron argentina.
Stefan- I am jealous of your mastery of a second language when I have trouble with only one, but as it is native to me sometimes I notice a “ hiccup “ when you translate the word pneumatic. Forget the P, have absolutely no idea why it is included, my English teacher refused to elaborate. New. As opposed to old? No idea. I’m told that our version is one of the most difficult varieties available. But the Oomlaw ( sp? ) that my 1971 girlfriend tried to explain makes me dizzy attempting to understand. Thanks for your update, always a joy to see you again 😊
One of the people I deliver and pick up from in Australia was at that show.
100,000 congratulations
thank you!
"4-8h train ride" die Bahn doing what it does best - being late
To be fair, the train was pretty much on time - The connection I have choosen was not ideal.
I came for the deckel technical bulletins but stayed for the dry German wit.
Congrats on the 100K! That sponge idea reminds me of Paul Sellers "rag in a can" oiler which I use on all manner of wood working gear. It never occurred to me to use them on metal working gear but it is a similar process.
Like a lot of shops I've been in I think I'm negligent on normal lubrication and cleaning. I'd like to say it is the intermittent shop use (1 or 2 times as week) that is the issue but I think I'm just lazy and will later regret not being a bit cleaner. It would be interesting to discuss strategies depending on use case for cleaning and lubrication.
Paul Sellers is a tressure of a human beeing, despite working with wood :D
I strongly consider doing an entire video on machine lubrication/upkeep and cleaning.
@@StefanGotteswinterI’m looking forward to seeing it.
Hello Stefan, a co-worker and I whas also on the EMO and we stopt also by Weiler on thursday we where also for a short stop by Kern and I look on the DRO there was 5 numbers after the komma amasing, nice book from Deckel also 👍👍🙂
Kern is always great to stop by - Leeding edge of milling odd materials. And they got me Wieners and a Brezel :D
"mildly in love" - I expected a much more accurate quantification!:P
Hi Stefan, thanks for the demo using bolt and nut to squeeze the insert screw which I ponder how without the crimping tool which is expensive. Also Hannover Messe trade show will be in Singapore next month. I attend yearly but unable to see any manual lathe or mill, more high-end 3D printers and CNC. I have the high resolution poster of the FPS 300M with a few cut out of the mill. Printed one in my workshop. Yes it's expensive and I can't afford one. Let me know if you keen to have it.
Hey, I'm going to need my pickle jar back.
i use poly clear hose with push lock fitting for about 20 years now
Thats a good idea!
Hello Stefan. Congratulations on silver plate for 100k subscribers. Time flies, but your shop talks are content of highest significance on youtube in my case.
Riser block on 55:00 is interesting item, i am guessing that it inverts main spindlle rotation.
Man could spent many happy years to try all posibilities of Deckel mill and its clones.
The riser has two sets of gears in it, it keeps the spindle direction :-)
There are several versions of the riser to make things worse.
One for FP1 accessories, just to get more Z-height
One to use FP2 and jig borer accessories on the FP1 (They have different pressure angles on the gears)
And finaly one for the FP2 to get more z-height.
@@StefanGotteswinter Deckel was consistent in making things complicated 😃, that is why we love it, and its clones. Do not think that machine which is more universal than Deckel FP will ever be invented again.
Z-height is of my main interest in this case. Do you know how much Z is added on FP1 and FP2 with these riser blocks?
Buying machine was easy, close your eyes, count the money, you buy it once. But add ones you can never get enaugh, and for me they are like nice shoes and purses to women.
Should not complain, slotting head payed its self on the first job, and so on.
hunderttausend.... Super 👍
Your rivet-nut tool is MUCH simler than the one I made based on a video by Matty's Workshop! Like you, I didn't want to pay for one, and I had some nice random bits that I could use to make it - and it was quite a fun thing to build, with some left-hand threading and other activities that I don't do often. I've not tried it for bigger than M8.
I used something very similar in mid 80's when Suzuki started using rivnuts of GSX-R 750.
They always came loose after a few months and needed tightening up
I used a radial needle bearing from Suzuki clutch though
for riveting nuts I had similar method, but rather using bearing, which I did not have, I used eye wrench of small size, just for screw to go through, in place of bearing. Then I could hold that wrench together with allen wrench and with other hand tighten the nut in between :). Works, but there was much more friction in the system. To clarify, that eye wrench acted as a washer, that did not rotate with nut, so prevented torque to go through to riv nut. Your soulution much more elegant though :). Cheers!
Check out ACF 50 for machine sponge baths, an initial investment for a 5 litre but lasts an age, is rubber and electric safe and I have yet to find a better option. Congrats on 100K and many thanks.
You should put those sponge and rivet tips in a separate video instead of hiding them in a shop talk.
Still contemplating about how to solve that. I like longer form videos myself for watching myself, and it feels "wrong" just to have a 5 minute video on a little thing.
Please, no shorts. They're too fleeing.
Hi Stefan, thanks for all the videos and tips. What oil you recommend (brand or viscosity? for the sponges besides way oil? Thanks and congrats for the best channel on youtube!!
🎉
I want same book..Same hardcopy
