@XenoMassxx right. Call of duty modern warfare remaster is still considered a remaster despite literally having the entire graphics engine pipeline changed
@XenoMassxx whether or not something is a remake or remaster comes down to the underlying tech. This is a brand new game mimicking the PSP game's design. Thus it is a remake. Type-0 HD, Okami HD, Chrono Cross: Radical Dreamers Edition etc all are remasters because they're the same game as the original, just ported to hardware and updated with better quality assets.
I never played Crisis Core but definitely going to buy the remastered version when it launches. Edit: I've subscribed to your channel. You make really good videos. :)
FF7R might be my favorite game of all time. And I played the original before the Remake and even then I thought the original was pretty high up on my list. The remake is right up there with The Last of Us in my opinion.
I played CC on the PSP, then some years later I played it again on a emulator raising the internal resolution. And I will definitely play again the Remaster version!!! I love this game so much.
I still do, but you're right we can now play this on modern consoles but I'll still hold on to my PSP anyway. But I do admit though that my PSP feels tiny and strange after getting used to my Switch Lite as well as my PSVita.
On top of all of this they stated that there's going to be additional story content aaand they are adding more music to it! I seriously cannot wait to get my hands on this game!
This really does teeter on the line of a remake. It’s so awesome to see the extra effort put into a re-release of an older game. Nintendo needs to take some serious notes.
People nowadays don't understand what Remaster is and Remake is, after they heard a remaster since PS3, Xbox 360 Era of games made the first Remastered games, like Metal Gear Solid HD collection and Devil May Cry HD collection for example *Remake is built from the ground up, from scratch, Like Crash Bandicoot N. I believe that they call it remaster because the story will be literally the same as the original, even the cutscenes. Even thorugh all the gameplay has veen tweaked/changed and using a new engine (Unreal Engine)
It’s not just an upscaling or retexturing this clearly looks to be rebuilt on a new engine so it’s more of a remake than a remaster but either way this is a big W and many people who didn’t or couldn’t play the original will be able to enjoy this now
It's definitely the same engine. There are multiple times in the video where you can tell it's the same object from the original, just prettied up, being they share the exact same model and poly count. Not to mention the animations are 1 to 1 in many scenes, and that wouldn't hold true across the board that often. They definitely reworked the lighting engine and particle effects, but this is just the result of reworking assets and not being held back by hardware limitations.
@@jesserogalski1402 I don't know, the locations like Sector 8 and the church seem to be lifted from Remake. The area where the behemoth is fought looks pretty different between the original and Reunion. I want to see what they do with locations that look vastly different between Crisis Core and Remake, though, like Shinra Building and the slums.
@@jesserogalski1402 That's because in these sections they modified the original game's CGI cutscenes which were made in a different 3D renderer (and not in the engine itself). The rest of the game seems to be ported in a new engine (Unreal Engine 4 probably, like FF7 Remake, since the lighting looks similar), with new models and textures, and of course, revampted lighting (because of the new engine capabilities which the original outdated engine one clearly doesn't have), which technically make this game a remake. But since they use the exact same CGI and motion capture animations for cutscenes as the original even some models, they may advertise it as a remastered.

They should make Zack's hair bigger. It looks less cool with the more realistic style they're giving the remaster. Like looking at them side by side, the remaster looks like he's got regular joe hair with a bit of gel in it. The og, it's this big spikey anime style.
This is absolutely amazing. I think the only thing bugging me is Zack's in game face. I wish they made him look more like he does in the Cgi cutscenes of Crisis Core. He looks so weird here imo
@@Killer_Kool7 Yeah I'm aware of that, I just personally don't like his remake face at all. He looks like a completely different character by the face. I like both; the original was very good, just low-resolution. I'm very distracted by the eyes overall, a slightly more bluish-bright tone in the remastered would have been nice.
I just about cried when they announced this, favorite final fantasy hero and almost favorite final fantasy game, still play on my psp once a year at the least
This seems similar to SotC and TLOU remake, where the animations and overall gameplay are basically intact with some improvements. Whereas the graphics see a major overhaul.

I was surprised that there's gonna be an official Remake of Crisis Core. And I'm guessing Square Enix got Gackt's permission to use his likeness since it was used for Genesis since Dirge of Cerberus? _It's funny that in English he called her by “Aeris" how she's known in Spain and not “Aerith” how she's known in English-speaker community, and it's their original graph. The Spanish version of FF7 (PS1) adapted from Japanese form, エアリス, and in Japanese language, the “th” sound is adapted as ス (su) and from this it was retranslated to Spanish as “Aeris” and it was established this way in Spain, even at the Remake she's called “Aeris" in the European Spanish version and I think this was a good choice that EU Spanish Translation Team made it. In Latin American Spanish version she is called like in English, Aerith._

Add another game that seems to flat-out skirt the line between Remake and Remaster with NieR Replicant Ver 1.2247... Honestly if NieR Replicant can skirt the line and still be built off the original engine/codebase (So much so that Yoko Taro and SQE can't decide with Yoko dubbing it a "Version up" which doesn't really awsner the question), yet change pretty much everything outside of the fundamental skeleton of the game structure wise (World, Story, Missions, and fundamental combat systems), I say CC:R atm skirts that line too. NieR Replicant Ver1.22 does show that a very old game can use the same engine and achieve a massive graphical uplift, so it **might** be the same engine that CC originally used, but I personally have my doubts as some shots look like they are using the exact rendering technology that FF7R uses (Just at a lower fidelity likely because the game needs to have it's groundwork work for the Switch version, or tech-debt from the OG, or both). Either way, IMHO Remake VS Remaster is sort of like the Ship of Theseus. If you replace enough components of a game, is it no longer the same game? Or is it a new game using the old game's skeleton/name? Remasters generally don't replace too much, XBC:DE tore out the old rendering engine from XBC and put the XBC2:Torna renderer in it, but the base engine is still there and they didn't tweak anything outside of UI elements and music, so I say XBC:DE (And by proxy a similar form of Remaster, the GTA Trilogy which instead took the Mobile versions of the GTA PS2 games and encapsulated them in UE, and used UE's renderer overtop them, but if you turned off enough effects, the games would resemble the PS2 ones again so they are just the PS2 games in a shell) What CC:R is truly is TBD, but TBH even if it's a shell-method or a renderer swap (or them building a proper codebase in UE4, and importing as much they can from CC into that UE shell), I say if it qualifies as a remaster or remake depends on if they add any new content, how plentiful that new content is, and if they change the ending in any way (NieR Replciant did the latter and added a new true ending)

This really does teeter on the line of a remake. It’s so awesome to see the extra effort put into a re-release of an older game. Nintendo needs to take some serious notes.
yes it is remaker, not remastered.
People nowadays don't understand what Remaster is and Remake is, after they heard a remaster since PS3, Xbox 360 Era of games made the first Remastered games, like Metal Gear Solid HD collection and Devil May Cry HD collection for example
*Remake is built from the ground up, from scratch, Like Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty!*

Looks superb. Can't wait to play this as I never owned a PSP.
@@jesserogalski1402
I don't know, the locations like Sector 8 and the church seem to be lifted from Remake. The area where the behemoth is fought looks pretty different between the original and Reunion. I want to see what they do with locations that look vastly different between Crisis Core and Remake, though, like Shinra Building and the slums.
i hope they reworked the combat system.
it feels really clunky on PSP

Remasters generally don't replace too much, XBC:DE tore out the old rendering engine from XBC and put the XBC2:Torna renderer in it, but the base engine is still there and they didn't tweak anything outside of UI elements and music, so I say XBC:DE (And by proxy a similar form of Remaster, the GTA Trilogy which instead took the Mobile versions of the GTA PS2 games and encapsulated them in UE, and used UE's renderer overtop them, but if you turned off enough effects, the games would resemble the PS2 ones again so they are just the PS2 games in a shell)
What CC:R is truly is TBD, but TBH even if it's a shell-method or a renderer swap (or them building a proper codebase in UE4, and importing as much they can from CC into that UE shell), I say if it qualifies as a remaster or remake depends on if they add any new content, how plentiful that new content is, and if they change the ending in any way (NieR Replciant did the latter and added a new true ending)

This game is a remake. When an old game is built again in a different engine using a different code and each and every texture is rebuilt from the ground up, it is a remake. Mafia Definitive Edition, Destroy All Humans, TLOU Part 1, Demon Souls are remakes. Even if the gameplay and the story is fundamentally same, they are remakes because the animations, AI logic, graphics are rebuilt again. Remasters improve the same graphics. Remakes build new graphics. Dont listen to OP. He doesnt understand technology. 😉
@@maxpayne9139 You are totally wrong. They use the same code, but in an updated graphic engine. The same damn video is showing you that it's a remaster (same dialogues, cutscene animations, code) and you want to pretend you know more than the developers themselves.
With your logic, then Daggerfall Unity is a remake because a group of modders ported the original code to Unity... What ridiculous people...
@@evil_chuck Such ridiculous people
@@maxpayne9139 It's a remaster. Cheers.
@@evil_chuck It is a remake. All new assets, animations, textures, models, new engine. It is a remake. Cheers. Dont be ridiculous
