*all the specialty older chevrolet's you mentioned i own still well almost, i Have the 89 Silverado Sport the first one that they only made 5400 of with the 350 V8 in it. i also have the 1999 tahoe that was made with all but 2 of the law enforcement package options on it like the 260 AMP alternator, (standard one is only 85 Amp) larger ati sway bar heavy duty brakes and second battery tray which i use to power a 4,500 watt stereo, my tahoe is not the limited that came 3 months after my tahoe was made. and the 454SS actually came out 2 years (1990) after my 350 "sport" was made. about the time they began putting composite lights on chevy trucks instead of the dual sealed beam lights that they began adding in 1987. I also now own the 6.0L LQ9 powered 2006 Cadillac Escalade EXT (aka an avalanche with Caddy badging and prettier paint) OMG that RST sounds BEASTLY, Love it! can't afford it but that never stopped me before lol*
Meh. Tahoe is a half-size too small if you’re stepping up from the unibody crossovers to a true BoF SUV. Secondly, the “RST” trim is a street racer thing, which I have zero interest in. I want that 6.2L motor and those brakes, in a Suburban, with the Z71 or a ZR2 package. I live in the country and need off-road chops. I haul lots of people and heavy stuff, up and down steep hills, so the 5.3 feels too wimpy (I have borrowed my inlaws’ 1/2-ton 5.3 several times and it’s just okay with people and some gear... loaded up, you feel the lack of displacement). For those aforementioned hills, the beefier brakes would be welcome. And really, I need to tow as well, so bringing back the 3/4-ton capacity to the civilian market would be quite welcome. Buying a surplus LT that is missing some wifey-critical options is not my idea of providing well for my family. Buying a surplus one and having it kitted out to our specification gets a little ridiculous in parts and labor, mostly because adding anything that changes the wiring harness is a major PITA. C’mon GM, let me order a ZR2 ‘burb that makes me happy with its rural acreage chops, with the LTZ interior bells and whistles that make wifey happy, and the strength to tow reasonably heavy loads with confidence. I want something that has the engineering margins of my Silverado 2500HD Duramax when towing, with the comfort and practical space of the Suburban. Yes, I would pay you 80-90 grand for this truck, if it’s brand-new, factory, under warranty. Not some kluged together hybrid built off a surplus DOD Suburban and wrecking yard LTZ parts and an aftermarket lift. So which beancounter needs smacked upside the head to let this happen?
