  • Jamaica was on the verge of a full blown civil war in 1978 when two inner city Kingston warlords got the idea to unite a dying country using the power of reggae music. This video tells the epic story behind Jamaica's most important concert.

Oh. I have watched this concert many, many times. Please tell me that it wasn't just me that saw Bob, whilst in a trance like state, reaching a spiritual climax it was him reaching towards the sky that caused this thunder and lightning to appear??? As if Moses himself!!! Crazy.

Nice work bro...And the interesting thing actually was: Jacob Miller who at the time was at the height of his popularity was actually ear-marked as the central musical figure for that concert but unfortunately for him Bob's overwhelming reputation and charisma couldn't be ignored.. It was even speculated Jacob Miller (being very ambitious) was unhappy about this perceived snub..This may have explained why Bob took Miller and Inner Circle along with him to Brazil for the opening of Island Records" new offices there..Of course we all know Jacob Miller soon passed away soon after, on March 23, 1980.😢

    • @troylewin1443

This is all very interesting indeed my friend. But could Jacob "killer"Miller have done it with such beauty and spirituality as Bob did? I'm sure that we both know the answer to this. Still. Bless his Soul.

@@troylewin1443 That's true of course. Miller was Charismatic too, but was more of a showman while Bob was much more than that of course.

Much blessings, respect and Apprecialove for and, to all the rightful artists who took part in this event. And a deeper respect to those who sacrificed their careers, their lives, and those who was brutalised. Yet never copmpromised their integrity and principles for the liberation of Mamma Africa and the upliftment of poor and oppressed people globally. Peter was brutalised so bad that his brain could be seen. Peter's locs never grew back, Peter's wife Marlene said that Peter suffered excruciating headaches for the rest of his time on this earth.. 🎼💜🖤💜🎼

I just wonder what on earth can be done to save Jamaica from the desperately dire situation it finds itself in, in this time of unprecedented blatant avarice and neglect perpetrated by the people that claim to be running things 🤔

This history I knew a little, thanks for explaining more details, I thought that Seaga was a communist, a left party too. Sad that Bunny not played there, there are some rumors that he was invited, but recused....
Would like that existed more old archives like Roots Rock Reggae festival in sep 1979 the last Bobs show in JA, I think...Bless!

Manley was socialist leaning, insofar that he wanted free public health and education (something every natuon should have anyway), and expressed sympathy for Cuba.
This provoked pamic in the USA: after loosing their casino and brothel island of Cuba, they couldn't afford to loose even their vacation island of Jamaica. The CIA choose Seaga as their puppet and flooded the Ja with guns to arm his thugs and so the history of political violence in the island begun.
