Jim Bob Duggar, father of convicted CP / CSAM criminal Joshua Duggar, displays patterns similar to that of his sons. Perhaps nonverbal communication and body language can help clarify what is going on behind the curtains of the Duggar cult.

Yes! Their outright favoritism is disgusting. I believe a while back she admitted that the interview she did with Jessa about their abuse, they made her do it and told her what to say. Which is horrible because both girls laugh it off and say he was just curious and it wasn't a big deal. They made their daughters say that to the public to protect themselves and their son. She made the right call by distancing herself from them. All the girls that distanced themselves did the right thing i feel bad that they had to go through that.

I think he truly sees his daughters as property and his sons as investments. The boys can do no wrong, and if they do then it’s clearly the fault of someone else. And if something is done to the girls, it’s their fault for being tempting. So the Josh situation was proof of that double standard. In Jim Bob’s world, there is no question that the boys come first.

    • @mastiffmom2592
      @mastiffmom2592 2 года назад +12

@@justme1892 that’s precisely what the cult they are deeply involved in, believes. Girls are at fault when the boys/men “sin”. It’s because the girls did something to cause the boy to fall. Men are not held accountable for anything. There is also this purity culture aspect in the cult. So much emphasis put on premarital non touching that the unmarried are so tempted and made to feel guilty, to the point that they are told that God is angry with them if they “break the rules”. I almost think it’s treated as if there’s an unforgivable aspect to it. I see that S setting them up to fail.
THEN you see JB humping his wife at mini golf. The women are expected to be “joyfully available” ANY time the man snaps his fingers. Really and truly, women are treated like objects.

He was placed in REAL therapy, placed in his dad's home, safeguarded so he couldn't do it again. When it was reported to us that he did it again at age 18, we reported him to child services, he was arrested. I cooperated with the police and with the prosecution and the defense. I keep in touch with him in prison but let him know that I definitely do not approve of his actions. Trigger Warning ⚠️
44:52 This is EXACTLY what happened to me. I had to demonstrate on a doll what my stepdad did to me in front of my mother and her sister (my cool aunt)
As soon as they saw that there wasn't any penetration they both sighed with relief. It was a very confusing and scary time for my 10 year old mind. All I can remember is being slapped across the face the next morning as I was forced to sit across from him meanwhile he gave me dirty looks and called me a pig. I reacted by telling him he was the pig and my mother slapped my childhood out of me. Yes, my own mother. I fell asleep with my headphones on and woke up to you disgusted and angry at around the 43:00 minute mark. I've never heard you this way and it broke my heart to hear a complete stranger say the words I only dream my mother would have said. Instead she chose Jim Bobs method going so far as to lie to police that I was "just having a bad dream"
I'll never know what it's like to have a mother or father. They both failed miserably. I completely cut ties from my entire family when I became a mother and the fog started to clear. I'm the only one out of five siblings who told on him and I'm the only one who chose to not sweep things under the rug and have my children around people who support predators and enablers. Therapy is a part of my life and for that I am grateful. It's amazing how much a "little touch over the clothes" can affect and intertwine into the relationships you develop as an adult. Sometimes I find myself thinking about the what ifs and yes sometimes when I hear or see a woman out with her mother I wonder what that feels like. But one thing I will never have to wonder is if I'm a good mother. The only thing my mother ever taught me was to not be anything like her. It's kind of twisted but it's true. I'm a protector and I build and create. I'm a fighter and have found my voice. Ten year old me will always be there but I vow to keep her safe because that is what love is to me💞

Age should never be an excuse for anything. A 1 year old might do something stupid simply due to lack of experience, but at 3 they're able to rationalise in their own way because no action is unconscious. A 6 year old is an entirely independent individual with their own opinions, views, conscious actions and sense of morality. At 4 years of age I was righteously stubborn and already "fighting" for ethics (which is why I went to study that) so a teen simply must not be excused for their abhorrent, vile, unethical behaviour. I've had someone try to justify SA just because "he was a child back then and hating him now, especially since he's changed so much, is ruining his life." Excuse me but when did we skip over the fact that he's the one who's ruined the life of his victim while any sort of consequences for his actions are entirely his fault.
So yeah, you're 100% correct, I'm so sorry you had to go through such a traumatic experience

When my daughter was 4/5, she and another girl in our "village" were playing "doctor" with some boys, aged 4/5 and 7. When she told me, I told the 7 year old he WOULD be going to jail as the leader and the other boys as well; explained to them the concepts of assault, simple, sexual and what accomplice meant. (This is NOT in the US, as we are expats, but I'm legally trained and licensed (at the time) so I knew the local laws then.)
I have never seen children turn bright white then almost blue and purple from fear, so fast. The parents were so ready to sue me because it was just innocent "exploration" and "you Americans!"
Once I explained that it wasn't nice, not good, you don't want to be touched, etc etc, the boys got it. And, as far as I know, those boys, who have grown up to be lovely young men, never made THAT mistake.
If a mother and father can't take on the entire world to defend their kids and teach them right and wrong, then they don't deserve those children.

Thanks to therapy and having a husband who cares for her as a human being, she is doing well. She has two sons and one on the way. She is actually spacing out her kids unlike what the women in the cult she left have to endure - back to back pregnancies. Her parents disowning her was nothing less than a favor to her, in the long run. Now that her husband has passed the bar, he will have a good job that supports them all comfortably. I attended a “Duggar style” Christian school for 2.5 years. The way that the girls were expected to “protect” the male students from anything that could cause them to “morally stumble” was so intense. The rules we had to abide by were insane. We weren’t allowed to speak to the boys alone, stand within 3 feet, sit on the same couch or even at the same table. I had male students send me “notes” asking me for absolutely INSANE “favors”. It was very much the “abstain until the point of absolute crushing curiosity” effect. The pressure on the female students was so intense. I remember flushing a note down the toilet for the fear of getting in trouble because the boy asked me for something of the “front hugging” variety. I didn’t know this boy... but he was so socially damaged by all this “training” that he felt it was OK to ask me for this. I was in 7th grade...
The stories I could tell about this school. The reason we wound up leaving was actually for physical abuse. 😏

I think that Jimbob kissing his wife in front of Ben and Jessa is really only perverse because their religion equates that with sex. Their kids "can't" kiss until they marry, so them kissing in front of their kids is cringey because their culture sees kissing as something private and sexual. Like my mom has kissed her husbands in front of me and it's no big deal because kissing is just a sign of affection. But with them, it's taboo so it *IS* very much a power play and it *IS* inappropriate.

This is not odd as applied to his wife (tho a bit of red flag), but it's sick as applied to his daughter. As someone who survived multiple SAs I'm in tears from gratitude over the outrage and demonstration of compassion you show in this video. The reason it's making me cry is because I craved my whole life for someone to show the level of passion that you're demonstrating. I never received anything close to it. In fact I had a restraining order at the age of 15 against an attacker yet I was the one forced to change high schools instead of him. He was allowed to remain on campus and to continue his extracurricular activities and I was told since we weren't allowed to be in the same level of space that it would be "best for me to move to another school and probably better for my mental health". I spoke to many women who share similar experiences as mine and it breaks my heart.
I was the guilty one ofc. I should have known better because I was a much "younger Pretty girl". I got asked by "friends" why I was pressing charges because didn't I realize this would go on the permanent records of the boys that had hurt me? I could ruin their entire futures! Little did my "friends" know It was the state or the county that was pressing charges on my behalf as a minor. I actually had gone down to the police department begging them to drop the charges because of the bullying and how awful it was.
So I know this is probably the strangest "thank you" you may ever receive if you see this comment, but thank you for your outrage. Thank you for making it abundantly clear that this is not OK. Jim Bob is lenient with Josh and is trying so hard to "redeem him" and be there for him because Jim Bob feels guilty. He was the spiritual leader of the family and failed. I wouldn't be one bit surprised if Jim Bob is guilty of doing the same thing to his girls, but they are so brain washed and terrified of their manipulative, narcissistic dad, that they may never speak out.
I think Anna was a young, innocent, naive girl who was married off by her dad and didn't ever feel like she was "allowed" to say no. I think they pushed the marriage to get Josh out of the home and "cure" his sexual desires AND it was BIG ratings for the TV Show. Talk about a win, win! 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️
Lastly, I wonder if Janna (the oldest daughter) has yet to get married because she doesn't trust men (like her father and brother) and has chosen to stay behind to "protect" the younger girls still at home. It wouldn't be the first time in history that an older sibling lets the abuse fall on them, rather than a younger sibling. Thoughts, anyone?

I agree on all counts. I think Jana has been jaded. She’s exhausted and has lost any romanticized notion of marriage/kids. I think she’s protecting the little ones and I doubt she will get married. I hope she gets out when the little ones are safe, and goes to school and builds a strong support system for herself. Those kids have gone through a lot.

Even if Jim Bob isn't committing SA on his kids. Which I honestly have the sad sinking feeling that Josh possibly learned it from his father. The fact that these parents don't seem to do things like give their kids hugs and love makes me think that Jana is staying around not just as a protection but as a way to make sure her parents do no parenting and give the little kids chance to get away from the life that they're living. I feel like when either the last kid turns 18 or they're taken away which by this point I think social services really should be involved. She'll finally leave and not only leave but we'll most likely do a 180 and completely change from what she has portrayed herself as to keep her parents happy and maybe finally live her life on her terms.

15:22 twas definitely a genuine emotion from JB, not because he's genuinely happy for his daughter, but because he's losing CONTROL over her & that FRIGHTENS him, he is scared of what she might do and or say when she has the freedom to do such. He is scared that his brainwashing tactics may wear off, & from her nonverbal demeanor, he had reason to be afraid.
Also, go Jill!!!!! I am so proud of her for standing up for herself & her own family.

Speaking as a woman who was assaulted when I was a teen, it feels really good to be reminded that good men like you are out in the world, feeling just as upset about this stuff as me and a lot of other women are. It means a lot to see a man feel so passionately about this.

My family is kind of conservative, we're lower-middle class Christian white Australians. My parents were in volunteer Christian ministry for decades. They're dedicated to their faith, and it's played a huge part in how they've raised me and my older brother.
Their outlook is to raise their kids with the tools they need to make their own decisions. They don't need to control my life, because they've tried to raise me to figure it out myself. I don't need to follow what they tell me God wants for me, because they encourage me to seek God's guidance myself.
I don't need my parents' permission, but I would like their blessing. I don't need their approval, but I appreciate their opinions.
No one will be asking my father's permission to marry me, because I'm an individual. My father would see this as a warning sign, because it'd show that a man wad assuming I can't make my own decisions, and that's not the person my Dad raised.
If your parenting style demands that you continue to make decisions for your adult children, because you believe they are unequipped to make those decisions themselves, then you're doing something wrong. If your parenting style makes the assumption that your children cannot operate in the world without your permission and guidance, then you've absolutely missed the point.
You raise children to become adults. If you have to keep parenting your adult children, then you've missed some vital steps in their childhood.

So listening to the Duggar parents talk and downplay it is "it was years ago" I know they didn't care all that much. As a parent to 2 tween children, and in an openly tactile marriage (meaning casual touching generally acceptable places, hugging, and kissing), this is creepy. If you're unbothered by people seeing you and your SO be affectionate toward each other, I don't think that's a big deal in most cultures. I, personally, want my kids to observe what a happy and healthy relationship looks like (including disagreeing civilly). But if you're actively calling attention to displays of affection, it takes it to a really creepy and perverse place. I feel like there's a huge difference between being unbothered and commanding your offspring and their date watch you dry hump the wife.

This was happening BEFORE the big house was built and TLC had them on TV as regulars. The reason we know is that when they were planning the huge house, and deciding how many bedrooms would be built, etc...Michelle told an interviewer as she was giving a tour; that they asked the kids if they wanted several separate bedrooms, and the girls ALL agreed that they wanted to be in one large bedroom together. A very odd request to have teens, pre-teens and little girls all claiming that they wanted to sleep in one room. There was the opportunity in that huge home for many separate bedrooms, but the girls didn't want to be separated. RED FLAG right there. In addition to that, Michelle has told interviewers and spoken on their show about whenever she had a new baby, the infant would sleep in the master bedroom while it was waking up in the night and needing to nurse, etc...then at about a year or so of age, she would move the current baby into the girls' room. What kind of mother does this? These bigger girls had to take care of the other kids during the day, as they were on "teams" and they were also responsible at night? All of us who have had babies know for sure that even at a year or year and a half, a baby will lots of times wake up in the night, especially while teething and in pain. You have to sooth them, rock them, maybe give a bottle and change their diapers. This job was handed over to the girls' room while Michelle and Jim Bob slept peacefully in their own room. Narcissistic much?

The abuse may not have even happened if they had taken appropriate action after the first instance. I would just like to point out that not only do the Duggar parents not show sympathy for their female children, they act like they don't exist individually through all of this footage. Jim Bob says that the only people who knew about it are himself, his wife, and Joshua--like the sisters involved don't even count. He does this again later when he mentions the groping incident, and he vaguely mentions "the girls" once, in the briefest and least emotive manner possible.

No, no, the girls were totally unaware of what was done to them because they were asleep...only Jim Bob, Michelle, and Josh know about it. The girls don't know at all what was done to them.
He can't SERIOUSLY believe that, that's just what he is claiming as a way to minimize the seriousness. In his storyline, the girls weren't really harmed because they didn't know about it and didn't suffer the experience...they were sleeping peacefully the whole time. The girls didn't even know it occurred. Even the girl sitting on Josh's lap was asleep, I guess...and the girl walking around in the laundry room was really sleepwalking...and the girls on the couch were totally napping the whole time... UGH!!!!!!
If he did it even one single time, that's enough to get him out of the house into intensive treatment and get the girls into therapy and interviewed by CPS. None of this "handling it inhouse" crap, which just allowed Josh to continue for NINE MONTHS before they actually did anything. Oh, but JB was running for Senate when they first found out, so keeping his image clean was more important, I guess...
