Awesome thanks for the review!
I’d like to see some docker apps running. Especially Jellyfin
Hey Db, hope ur world is going well. great work on all vids. don't stress. I think people would be happy. book a holiday and have a break. I've bought a domain.... and looking to implement alotof your cool ideas. I think I'll build an aggregator website to the things I use from your content. linking back to videos from my fav youtubers. which includes you.
Thanks. I really appreciate you
Keep up the good work. :-) I appreciate hour videos. Thank you.
Glad you like them!
¿Alguien podría decirme, por qué Terramaster desaconseja el uso de los Seagate Exos?
You talk about putting different operating systems on this. Could you run Truenas Scale on it? That would be very interesting. Thanks for the video.
Based on the minimum system requirements of TrueNAS Scale: Dual-Core 64-bit CPU | 8 GB RAM (16 GB Recommended) | 16 GB SSD Boot Device | 2 Identically Sized Devices | Network Port | Hardware RAID Not Required, you absolutely could install TrueNAS Scale on this... Might be an upcoming video 😁
@@DBTechYT I would love to see TrueNAS on this box.
Can you put a wifi usb on this for a wireless connection?
Nice video, i was thinking to get a NAS , the only inconvenient that I see, it's that it means your air conditioner in your house must be on all the time 😐
Not at all. These barely warm up at all. They really put off very little heat :)
@@DBTechYT thnx
Good Video.... I would like to see TruNas and OMV on it......
No OMV please
Noted!
It would be interesting if you could make a budget build with similar hardware with OMV and testing, maybe with jellyfin, if the performance are similar to this one in order to understand what is the best and cheapest way to achieve media streaming through commercial NAS and homemade NAS
With a commercial NAS like this, you don't necessarily need OMV. The NAS has its own OS on it and has apps, in most cases, that are built for the hardware that will give you, hopefully, the best possible user experience because the app was built/compiled for the commercial hardware. All that said, though, I think I might do a few different videos on installing and configuring OMV, TrueNAS SCALE, and maybe some others and talk about the pros and cons of each on prebuilt hardware :)
@@DBTechYT I think he meant doing a comparison between this and a diy nas running omv with jellyfin that's within the price range of this nas
Yeah. I thought about that after I pressed the Reply button. Problem is that the majority of my audience uses ad blockers and, while my views are down ~10%, my revenue is down 40% this period. I'd love to be able to build a custom solution, but don't have the additional revenue as a result of the use of ad blockers.
@@DBTechYT oh I see, makes sense, yeah, but maybe if you can at least compare the software and provide a breakdown of the pros and cons of using a diy solution vs this that would be awesome
unraid install please
Even though it recognizes that there is 10Gigs of memory in the unit, you need to look at what the CPU supports. The Intel Celeron J3355 only addresses 8GB of memory, so the extra 2 is a waste. It recognizes they are there but doesn't address them so it will not use them. It would have been nice if the unit came with 4GB of ram, then you would need to waste money buying an 8GB stick instead of a 4GB stick to get the max memory.
That is dead wrong. There are J3355 that have 2 open slots out there that fully work with 16GB on 2 sticks. All this is is it functioning out of spec with ram Intel never tested with. The Memory controller does in fact work up to 16GB. So with 2GB + 8GB you get 10GB usable. DDR3 memory controllers that dont work with 8GB sticks are pretty darn rare when this CPU was made... 16GB sticks are where it gets iffy.
@@Wingnut353 have you actually tested it with a memory utility to see how much it will handle?
Dude your channel is just an ad these last week.
This video is setting up the foundation for more upcoming videos. Other viewers have already shown an interest in me doing other videos using this device.
Edit to say, it's been TWO videos in a row where I've talked about hardware. TWO. Relax for me, my dude.
