    I think the reason why people are so willing to pay that much is because Bowmar and guys like elkshape are good salesman thier like used car salesman they can talkif i havnt shot alot of broadheads i woukd think you have to have a beast to kill an elk

    These Broadheads not opening on bare gel would be similar to a shot that goes too far back. A shot none of us ever want to make but one that you need the most out of your broadhead. I think to many people think about hitting a shoulder (and you need to think about that) but not enough think about hitting in soft areas. The Broadheads you choose have to work in both extreme situations. Great Video.

    Regardless of how good they, $65 for 2 puts them way out reach for most guys. It's still just an expandable broadhead. Pretty cool looking though.

    try pushing that head through deer hide without it opening. never happen. that gel is so soft the fletching are cutting it. can we stop testing hunting equipment on stuff that isnt close to what we are shooting to kill. gallon jugs of water, concrete blocks, ballistics gel, angled ply wood. its all fun to watch but means jack crap on vitals of an animal.

    • @jacobsandlin5760
      @jacobsandlin5760 2 месяца назад +3

      I agree and we are going try to make up a better test but I think your missing the point. These heads fully spring open as soon as something touches the blade. As the head passes through the gel the blades flexed back and didn’t fully cut as advertised. See how the head was fully open when we walked up to the arrow. I agree 100% that would affect the mega meat and swacker but if anything this test should have worked in favor for the beast.

      @@mikemellon80 I want a head that will work in any situation PERIOD….. we are test for worst case scenario, not best case. The blades didn’t open up all the way in the soft gel but did when it existed the gel. What would make them open up more in something harder? Genuinely asking.

    • @gwiltz1123

      @@jacobsandlin5760 the impact to open up the expansion tip. If theres not enough solid force impacting the small tines that make the blades open, it wont open like they are designed. You saw the same thing happen with the Dead Meat. The blades eventually opened, but not after the arrow already slowed down through the gel. Thats why in most testing, the arrows are shot through either a piece of cardboard, particle board or thin plywood before the gel.

    • @jacobsandlin5760
      @jacobsandlin5760 2 месяца назад +3

      I agree we need to redo the test with leather in front of the gel. With that being said, these pop fully open as soon as something touches the blades, which happened on entry, but the blades didn’t cut to full diameter due to the gel holding the blade spring back. That’s my take atleast, we will redo the test with leather in front. I may put a rack of ribs in the middle of the gel and leather on the outside to see how it does like that also.

    • @Outdoor_Addictss

    i see what you are saying too. I think the problem with Gel is there is so much constant friction on the blades that they stay swept back. a deer vitals have a lot of variation in material. hide, to bone to soft tissue to lungs arteries. I know you cant tie up deer to a tree and shoot them for a test but thats about the only real test that matters. Looking at Bowmars instagram and seeing that huge holes and blood loss is impressive. I shoot Trifecta fixed double bevels because I DO NOT want to worry about this very thing you are seeing. also you can shoot them forever as long as you dont lose them. and man they are inexpensive for what you get. might want to review those on your channel for fun.

  • @FullDrawOutdoors

    My guess is that the gel was just to soft, so the impact didn't have enough resistance to open either broadhead. My guess would also be with a piece of cardboard or something to resemble skin will change the outcome of both broadheads. I mean you were able to just poke your finger in it. That gel is super soft. It's just cutting in the position it hitting because of that. Like try to do that with a piece of steak from the store, your finger won't go through it. Run the test again and let's see the outcome. Also 3 blade mechanicals to me are way too risky which is why I stick to only two blades. An this is coming from someone who's not even going to buy those blades. I stick to my rages lol.

    • @Outdoor_Addictss
      @Outdoor_Addictss  2 месяца назад +1

      @@FullDrawOutdoors soft gel might effect the opening but would do nothing but help the beast’s blades stay deployed. However I like both BROADHEADS and am going to do some more test with each. I’m very disappointed with the reliability of these mechanicals. I love mechanicals, but making me think I’ll be going back with grim reapers (they have to open, the way they’re designed) or a fixed blade.

    This may be one of the worst tests/reviews I have ever seen.. a few beers to many it seems… if not beers… then idk….
    Dude in the tan shirt repeats and corrects himself nonstop and making absurd comments. I hate to be negative and literally have never written a comment before. But this video is rough. It might would help to get more than 10 damn feet away from the gel. Deer also have hide and bone. Not pure gel. Hence, the things needed to expand an expandable broad head. Sorry for the negativity. It’s not hating. Just more common sense/reality needed if you are going to review something and be on film and broadcasting a review/test to the world. Sorry, rant over.
    Keep doing it and improving! 👍🏼
