In his departure statement, PM Modi said, “I am glad that my first visit in the third consecutive term is to Italy for the G-7 Summit.”

The G7 has issued a video clip of Giorgia Meloni’s opening address, in which she said she believed that the next two days would bring “concrete and measurable results”.
Georgia Meloni’s social media account has posted to reiterate that the location of the G7 summit, Puglia, was a deliberate choice. She said: We did it because Puglia is a region of southern Italy and the message we want to give is of a G7 who under the Italian presidency wants strengthen its dialogue with the nations of the global south.
She told the other G7 leaders “The G7 is not a self-enclosed fortress, which needs to defend itself against others. It is a container of values, and we want to open to the world in order to have shared development and growth as our goal.”
