Everyone looks so happy and enthusiastic. What a fun video. I don't know how you escape with a single penny left in your bank account ;) You must have to set a firm budget. And how great to see your daughter sharing in the experience.
Absolutely! I was smart enough to edit around her. I made it her story. You always have to look for a narrative in the clips & she has so much personality. So adorable and wonderful.
This was so utterly fascinating. Thank you for providing this insight. I've been quite curious about the pen show experience. Your little girl seems quite intelligent and self-aware for her precious young age. Loved this video, Hemingway!✒
To your credit, two Esterbrooks are on my immediate radar that wouldn’t have been, had you not been such a big supporter. They really are beautiful pens.
Thanks so much! It was great to meet you too! The reason I put it up fast was to inspire some people to go today, if they could. It was hard to edit that quickly. Thankfully my wife took great footage.
It was nice seeing you and your lovely family at the show! I had such a lovely time, I even had my pen tuned by Annabel from Appelboom. I ended up getting a Mabel Todd from Myke!
I visited my first pen show only last year. I found it a rather overwhelming experience - as if I were drowning in pens! Even at a small show there is such a lot to see. I'm sure you enjoyed the family outing. It's a good way to make connections with people in the pen world.
Looks like you took your time and had fun. I wasn't feeling relaxed and chatty at my local show recently, which was my loss. But I did do what I went to do, getting a lovely show-exclusive Franklin-Christoph Model 20 , which makes me happy.
Hello, My Friend. That pen sounds awesome. Well done. I tried to take my time, but we all know that 5 1/2 year olds have their attention spans! All the best.
Great to see if you can't be there yourself, what a lot of fountain pens. I think you need a strong character to withstand all that beauty. I wonder what you brought from there... Thanks for this video so we could be a part of it too.
I was at that show. Missed you Hem. This year's show will be a stones through from where I grew up next to The Little Sisters of the Poor at the once Somerville Armory in front of my Grammar Proctor School. I hope to be there Sunday. Having grown up so close to Boston and its surrounding with so many Colleges, Tufts, Boston C and U, Nor'eastern and let's not forget MITHarvard I am so surprised the area can't support a descent pen shop now that Appelboom left. What's with all these profs or more corectly pros' assistant coreecting college papers with Bics? So much for the Hub. Hub of what?
I agree about the pen shop. Boston is one of the greatest cities on earth though. So much culture here. So much to learn. I’ll be there Saturday around 11am, so I am afraid we will miss each other again. Maybe next year.
@@HemingwayJones well perhaps I'll come Sat. I agree, so much to do, see and learn in Boston and surrounds. Just strange about no zeal for fountain pens here to support a shop. Ever throught about a vid. within the Christian Science glass globe? If so don't forget to pose in front of Turkey home of Galen Leather.
That looked like fun! Your daughter was lovely! I liked her singing at the end! Your wife is a great camera person. I also would like to know what you purchased and if your wife and daughter purchased any. I also prefer smaller venues.
I am so glad that you stayed for the song! LOL! That was in the audio that I cut from some of the pan shots and it was too good not to use! Thanks for catching that. It makes me happy that some people watch to the end.
I would love to attend a Pen Show, if I could find one close-by! My best options are San Francisco and Denver, but I will need to acquire a totebag full of cash before I go! Thanks for sharing!
@@HemingwayJones Ha, ME either. I'm a very addicted Pen and Ink enthusiast LOL. I hope to see you there! I DID see just a flash of myself in your video too. I was talking to Greg Hardy when you were at the Esterbrook table :)
Thank you for the video. No pen shows near me so I have to live vicariously through these videos. I enjoyed how serious your daughter is about pens. May I ask where you are from? You pronounce the T sounds, as in daughTer for example, in a really specific way and I've noticed the same in other Americans but I can never place the accent.
@@penoutoften3984 Thank you! This is perhaps the nicest thing anyone has said to me all week. I appreciate it. You are an official “Friend of the Channel!” All the best.
You would be disappointed. I got a flex nib from Esterbrook, very lovely of them, and some wax seals from Science Notes. Beside that, some ink, and a cool pen my wife bought for her eclectic collection.
I didn't buy much! You'd be surprised! I will do something soon on the amazing flex nib from Esterbrook and some fun wax seals from Science Notes. It was those and my wife bought an interesting pen and some Colorverse Nebula Ink, which is awesome. We were very restrained.

Oh I so enjoyed this video. Thank you for doing this and for your lovely wife filming it. Your daughter was the highlight. She is so precious!
Thanks so much! She is the center of every room she walks into.
Even small pen shows are all about the kindness and camaraderie of the fountain pen community.
So very true.
