I probably should've clarified when I said "I like how Korean guys look". I like the lean physique and the fact they place heavy emphasis on self care. A man of ANY race can do this and still be attractive to me. Just wanted to point that out. This comment isn't meant to being down other groups of men. Sorry if it was taken that way.
oh yeah! same here. I'd say just as many women in the US like this type of man as the other type... it's strange how so many try to deny we exist? haha.
I agree. Those k pop guys are very attractive to us women. At least they try to look good. Men here where I live don’t even try and get fat . They grow beards and bald head is in style where I live. Not my cup of tea at all.
You are comparing 2 opposites. A man doesn't need to be overly muscular and look like a bear to look like a man. But there is nothing mainly about a guy wearing make-up. For some of the same reasons as for girls, but also, if guys look like girl, it will be inherently aversive to most women, beacuse even though we know it,s make up, deep inside in our genes, it will feel like they are girls, which does not work for reproduction. Evolution doesn't happen as fast as for us to have been over this yet.
Yes, unfortunately that is true. I get so mad at women who think the guy they date HAS to be over 6’. It’s on the same level as a guy saying any girl he dates has to be D-Cup or bigger and less than 110 lbs.
@@lt7378 Being a D cup or bigger and less than 110lbs is almost impossible whithout surgery. Remember boobs are made out of fat, and if you have that much fat there you will have it elsewere too. However being 6 foot is not impossible.
@@yourtherapist154 Yes, you are right. Unfortunately, some men base their choice of women on the impossible breast size/weight standards . Those men aren't worth having so just as well.
Symmetry, vocal quality, clean skin, some form of grooming practice (Because it's an indicator of self-worth and mental health) lack of general mutations/malformities, age related indicators, fertility indicators etc. Beauty standard is more universal than people give it credit for. It just becomes specific on smaller things, but there are a host of factors that are absolutely universal. Most extreme deviations to that formula only happen when there are extreme deviations in social structure/progress, such as places that struggle with food availability tend to favor persons who are more overweight, because it's an indicator that they have enough food, which is a bit more important than other factors. Survival comes first. Once that's covered, all the other standards, which are all just signs of "health genes" come into play. Being tall is an indicator of nutrient density while both in gestation and childhood development. Our ancestors were all shorter than we are today. It's also likely that taller persons tended to procreate more or have more successful offspring, so it gets selected by pressure. Not a single one of these things pop up out of the ether. They're all a play or variation on evolutionary drive.
@@yourtherapist154 There has actually been a few studies about this. While the vocal minority talks a lot about really big boobs, the majority actually want a sizable B to a full C. And I say those terms, because cup size doesn't mean anything alone. A small band and large cup is what indicates large breasts. You can have a E cup and a large band size and proportionally be similar to someone with a much smaller cup size. B-C is entirely possible and extremely common in someone with a feminine figure who is normal weight range and body fat% range. Because you are right, if you don't have enough fat on the body, you also won't generally have very big boobs. Fat is also what makes us look youthful. So it's a game of balance and loss. Nature is not very nice.
I think the beauty standards on both sides are toxic as hell. You should be able to present yourself however you wish. I know it sounds cheesy but it's true beauty is only skin deep. It's the personality and character that should matter. The looks should be a bonus. Although I never understood my fellow Americans and their hang-ups about men who actually take care of themselves. They're "created" (selectively pressured by happenstance) by evolution. All of it is a play on natural drives that have to do with survival and procreation. Nature isn't our friend. It's not the standard by which we should hold ourselves. In fact, being human is about giving those standards which we don't choose and inherently understand are unfair and about weeding people out the finger. So we have science and medicine. We save and protect (to varying degrees and more as time goes on) the disabled, misfortunate or otherwise not by natures standards the exemplary of our species. But we're still subject to a lot of natural instincts. I mean, caring about beauty at all or thinking beauty matters and being ugly or called ugly is an insult is a great example of this. It's not just why care about beauty standards? Why should we care about beauty? Why should we find some people attractive and some not just looking at them? That said, I don't think it's a bad thing, nor are we remotely over it. I think it's just important to be aware that this stuff isn't made up, we didn't just one day decide these things. We've found them important for all our time as being homo sapiens. Also, other creatures are under the exact same thing, but they don't have make-up, plastic surgery, a better chance at nutrition and health care as we do to even the odds of genetic lottery.
If you're ever feeling bad about how you look, just remember that beauty standards vary so much from place to place you're bound to be considered physically beautiful somewhere. Also, an attractive personality is usually considered more important to most people anyway. Also, also, I am beautifuuul no matter what they say... so screw you Ken. /j
I was watching Lawless Lawyer, and I couldn't get over the skinny frame of the supporting character. I was raving over that until my gf cautioned me and told me I am bullying her in my mind. I had to check myself. I don't know if it's wired into Nigerians but a woman has to be thick or fleshy before she pops on the attraction radar. Funny enough the "tan" trend mainly applies to White people or lighter mixed people. You would think the tanner you are = the more beautiful. Yet look at how poorly people still view dark brown skin. The most you can be is a golden bronze with a little brown. The tan standard was made for white people to experience that exotic tan, yet excludes people who naturally have that darker complexion. To this day, I have yet to see a beauty standard that favors dark brown skin. Especially on women. People like to say "it goes both ways" but it honestly doesn't. The world still values lighter skin. Pale, beige and bronze tan. That's the extent people are okay with. Anymore is "dirty" poor, criminal or impure. People are like "I love how beautiful dark brown skin is" nowadays. Or "I'm so jealous, it shines so beautifully in the sun". People talk how hard it is being pale, yet I STILL don't think they would choose to be dark. Because there are no postive stereotypes to cash in from. Worldwide white skin = education, morality, health, beauty. Then the opposite applies as well. People praise dark skin and might get a little tan, but would never actually want to BE born dark skin.
To me it seems like you are not from European descent. Because if you were you would know that usually the whiter you are the more negative comments you get. My skin is so fair that usually the lightest foundation shades come out too orange/brown (especially with brands that don’t offer a lot of variety). And especially in my youth I got a lot of comments on my skin, but even with men they’ve told me they had to get used to my skin color. Sure if I would go into other countrys people probably would favor my skin but that’s not the standard where I live.

Actually I wish that American men would take care of themselves by taking care of their skin (not about makeup, unless they want to do that, but at least daily cleaning and using a moisturizing sun screen if not averse to that), eating healthy, exercising (even light exercise three times a week makes a difference); etc.. The average American guy often does things to excess without thinking of the repercussions (i.e., overeating, alcoholism, etc..), showing off how cool he is in his excessiveness and "indifferent" attitude, whether feigned or real, then his health and looks decline way too young because he just thinks it is all going to "happen" as it should though he has abused his own body and ignored his own need for self care. Ageing is natural, but people can do what it takes to improve their own lives, or not. I see so many men that just look awful as they get older, and often they act like they are unhappy. There are real consequences to ignoring your health/happiness. It's no one else's job to make YOU happy or healthy - just yours. If you are depressed or sick, get help, get started. Its interessting how different it is . As someone from the US, I've seen people tease others for being pale comparing them to ghosts. I had a friend say she badly wants to tan and that she's so pale she'd blend in at a white sand beach.
as an south east asian, we have the same standards as the koreans, pale skin is a status of wealth and beauty. its harder to stay pale hear near the quarter, so we go through extensive measures to keep our skin as light as possible.
I found it sort of interesting about the white skin beauty standard, I always thought it was because of something related to colonists and europeans, because that's what it's like where I live, and I just thought that influence spread throughout Asia regardless of whether a country was colonised or not. I had no idea it stemmed from wealth and status.
It also happened both in Ancient Egypt and in Western European countries during the C19th-20th. You can see it in Egyptian art where people of lower social class are depicted as very tanned (outdoor life), higher classes as fair-skinned (indoor life) - and then in W Europe, pre-Industrial Revolution, the "I don't have to work" ideal was fair skin, but, as a LOT of lower-paid jobs quickly moved from outdoors to indoors, a signal of a higher social status became the ability to go outdoors and get a tan...
The European standard of tanned beauty was created by the National Socialist Party of Germany (NAZI) during the 1930s, when they pushed for an extensive system of outdoor physical education and a return to the "Ancient Aryan naturalistic customs" of their "ancestors". The tan is Nazi, and bad for the skin, but it looks so nice
To be honest In korea, Tan used to get called as a sign of like poorness And pale used to recognize as rich. @@lt7378 Thats because men created the American beauty standards and women just went along with it until they realized there’s another option
Them coming to agreement because they like tall men killed me 🤣 it seems like that is one beauty standard that most of the world have.
Beauty standards are created by people and are still running by people and
The fact is WE ARE PEOPLE
👍💯
WE THE PEOPLE
They're "created" (selectively pressured by happenstance) by evolution.
I was not expecting that ending😂

Yeah unfortunately
To me it seems like you are not from European descent. Because if you were you would know that usually the whiter you are the more negative comments you get.

I'm no damn expert. It's just that I would love to see more men in my surroundings feeling good in their later years, living longer, quality lives.

as an south east asian, we have the same standards as the koreans, pale skin is a status of wealth and beauty. its harder to stay pale hear near the quarter, so we go through extensive measures to keep our skin as light as possible.

Maybe cause most of them have pretty faces. Clear light skin, shaved, a lil bit of make up and stylish hair. I agree with you. Here in the US, most people go for dudes that are masculine, beards and are tan. I don’t want people to think that I’m “fetishizing” Korean men but I would say that they have good beauty standards
Weirdly I've actually never met a "feminine" Korean dude. I only see them on TV so I didn't know they existed in real life. I dated a Korean dude when I was young (yea he was over 6ft, but that was only a bonus). He was a typical American soldier so I can't even say he cared about his looks or even a nice guy. Best friend growing up is also Korean. Coincidentally, he's also gay lol. Not androgynous or anything and also not 6ft, but he did latch on to the GQ thing when it first started picking up in the 90s/00s.
Anyway, yea I know it's weird to say since black women are also often fetishized so I never know how to say it without it sounding bad or offensive or whatever
You clearly Asian men, go marry one.
@@1karinaKoreans are the least attractive when they stop bleaching and eyelid surgery
So true 😂 Australian, good looking, well groomed and slender, and I absolutely wear make-up. I hate to say that men in the West are influenced to look ugly and smell bad 🤢🤮 Sheer mass does not negate fat and ugly. I'm proud I'm no hairy-backed gorilla. Why should women have an unfair advantage? After all, make-up was first made for men, and in nature males tend to have more vivid colouring and display. It works, and people blush and/or act spiteful and the envy shows. Some women will proclaim they won't date a guy who looks in the mirror more than them 🤣 To that I would say is "honey, you won't make the cut anyway 😏" 😅
Umm, masculine looking men don't look ugly and smell bad. They are real looking men that's all. Slender and make up doesn't exactly scream manly. But to each his own but seriously get over yourself.
Those women are definitely made for the ugly looking, no fashion sense dudes. They make a perfect pair

Meaning you would not be much help around the house, right? Would makeup help you chop a pile of wood faster? Or would your good looks impress the angle grinder, you think? How about parading your ego while you're mucking out stables? And better leave those hammers and clicker knives alone- you would be useless in my leather workshop.
A woman (not a girl but an adult woman) wants somebody who can make things happen. Somebody who is not afraid to get dirty or get his hands rough. What good is there in keeping a well-manicured peacock around?
@@jvnd2785 Leather workshop hey? FYI I happen to be a formrr champion shooter, and I can most certainly cure leather. I built my own foundry, and my main source of income is supplying research labs with agrochemicals in the public and private sectors. I am a business owner and I have travelled the globe. I do not believe in limiting my scope as you do. Excusing your neglect of self-care with being a manual labourer is a cop-out.
“DoNaLd tRuMp” killed me 😂
"anorexic vampire" lol 🤣 I guess that's my type 🤷♀😆
mine too ahahahaa
Mine three
Bro what is wrong with you 😂😂😂😂 I’m always in stitches whenever I watch your videos
"that's why you 40 you look eighty" had me cracking up
OMG it was worth waiting for the punch line! Loved it! 😂😂
I love how he roast both the Americans and Korean people
Nah bruh this is way too funny!😭
(I’m talking ab the whole channel)
Why is his comedy always on point ? Lol 😂😂😂😂😂
even my asian mom was constantly saying that male kpop idols look like girls and just criticise their masculinity in general💀
I think it's only a look that middle school girls and early high school girls like. Which is typically the demographic since teenage girls are the biggest fans.
Why nobody talking about his beauty?
Am i the only one who noticed that he becoming more handsome day by day?🔥
The way the American guy talk is just 🤣🤣
I luv the way he can change his voice from deep to high ❤
LOL. Cha Eunwoo is extremely handsome for me though.
Cha eunwoo 😍😍😍
As an American girl who is pale and skinny I was always told to eat more and that I need to go outside more and get a tan. Also I showed some of my friends some men I find really attractive and they told me I must be bisexual because Korean men look like women- This video is very accurate
Classismm!!
Like, that's what most beauty standards come down to. Yet I rarely see people talking about class or classism and how it's actually the largest divider in every nation and among every group.
Josh is gorgeous 👍
0:35 - I love how you stood up for these
She's actually pretty "respectful" as she said there's nothing wrong with that but only that she wouldn't date a guy like that sooooo XD
Love your videos. That bit at the end about tall guys. 'Are you even a man?' OMG 😯😆😂
Is it just me who learned a lot about what Koreans think looks good?
Kai and Jimin are perfection to me! Although I love Tom Hardy ❤❤❤
This is GENIUS! Thank you, Josh to put it out there for many who NEEDS to listen and understand their own xenophobia! 💜
How does this relate to anything
But this also creates a false dichotomy of one beauty standard being better than the other, when both are very much detrimental.
Colorism is a huge issue in Asia as well, but he paints simply explaining the roots of these standards as somehow making it alright, which is really just an appeal to history and status quo more than anything lmao
@@MariaSantos-uo3pb i dont think he painted them as "alright." It was more so a historical fact as to why Koreans favour pale skin. Beauty standards often stem from historical circumstances. Having a reason doesn't make them okay, everyone understands that.
@@mcbedo6568 oh come on lmao- one of these characters is clearly painted as more irrational than the other, right down to their very tone. The historical fact wasn’t talked about in a vacuum, it was in tandem with how it was presented as a sort of rebuttal to the American pov
@@MariaSantos-uo3pb reason being the hypocrisy of the American in question for judging the Korean beauty standard when they have their own set of equally toxic beauty standards
The thumbnail tho 💓
Well, you got one part of it right. American women don't like men who are prettier than we are. We've gotten used to seeing Idols with makeup on stage. Seeing selfies they've posted, bareface, is a treat. But so many have had plastic surgery, they're still prettier than we are! And seriously, in america, women just want a guy who's taller than us. But the point is moot since American women are certainly not the Korean ideal. Kpop Idols all want their women to have brown eyes, to be petite, and innocent!🤣🤣
I'm a white American teaching in South Korea. My students were so shocked when I told them that it's the beauty standard for lighter-skinned people in the US to want to have tan skin. I told them that when I was little, my sister and I would put coconut oil on our skin and sit outside to try and get tan. We would only turn red and have major sunburns before peeling like an onion and coming out just as white as before. 😭 I remember us being so upset. 🤣
