I'm genuinely surprised to see Animals As Leaders taking the top spot for extreme metal. I thought for sure Meshuggah and Dave Grohl would have higher sales
I have to say when I discovered MGK with his tickets to my downfall I was like yeah okay some chill music I like it. I got so bored of it man I began to hate him. Not even dislike him but full time just NOPE cause what he does to the metal scene is .. I don’t even have words… but apparently people listen to him 😅
Dudes actually incredibly talented. TTMD is pretty famn amazing. Mainstream is blech in comparison. His first two rap albums, plus his Hotel Diablo albums are fugging all amazing! His third album was meh, but has a lot of mainstream bangers. His Binge EP was just "im on too many drugs" and was total fugging trash. 🤣 He needs to stop with his fugging attacking people like Eminem and Slipknot, and needs to stick to his Hip-Hop/Rap and Pop-Punk genre's.
Architects live album was a release with limited copies. I was lucky enough to get one, but I do understand what happened to the sales. I mean, it's also a live album with virtually the same songs as their previous ones so...
> virtually the same songs Whuuuut. Not an Architects fan here. Moreover, a person who rarely, very occasionally listened to one or two of their songs in the daily mix. But this album is a BLAST. Five or six of the tracks went immediately to favourites because of how good they are produced and how epic they sound. This thing is HUGELY different from their previous album.
@@devcor Dude, it's a live album. No new songs were released. Just like every other live recording, it's just previously released songs. That's all I meant.

Congrats to architects, meshuggah, animals as leaders, and spiritbox. Am I the only person who can’t get into animals as leaders? (like I’ve tried and for some reason I want to like them) but they’re so like…. non-musical, technical music, made for musicians to the point I find Most of their tracks hard to listen to. Dis-Honorable mention to MGK for.. just being the worst 🤷♂️
I had the same feeling in the past about AAL, but I like the new album. It's still not the easiest listen, but I find it more appealing and not as hard to get into as their past records.
@@clemensmoeller4549 hmm I’ll have to check that out. Thanks for the tip. I want to say I’ve heard one of their older tracks that I liked. Can’t remember which one it was. Sales are a reflection of normies being spoonfed their taste in everything by marketing. MGK has big label money behind him and is known in the mainstream, so he's going to win that by default. The bigger surprise is Abbath selling more than Meshuggah, it wasn't even a good Abbath album. Also curious how they determine these sales, is it counting things like Bandcamp which smaller bands rely a lot on?
About MGK, hear me out. Is he the best rock musician in the world? No, i dont think so, but idk about hate, there is so much gatekeeping here. Meshuggah are Swedish remember. Their new album debuted at no 3 on the albums chart, which is impressive considering their sound is so inaccessible.

Meshuggah is a Swedish band, AAL is American, I think that matters. The new 'shuggah album did good in Europe.
