    I've got one of each, and they are not the same. I can't flash the uv-k5(8) like I can the older one. I also can't use the cps or chirpp to read and write to the new one. The memory map must not be the same.
    Though, I was able to clone what I have programmed into the old one to the new one using the over the air copy mode. It didn't work quite how I expected, but all my data and settings moved over, including my custom boot message (my callsign).

    Audio tip: Any chance you can grab a lapel mic like a RODE wireless or DJI? Your room reverberates and make for a hollow sound. Check out Ham Radio Tube where Mike explains how he does his mic.

      I bumped a fairly expensive mic that ended up catching some reflected sound off the table in front of me. Have you checked out any recent videos? They're much better.

    Jim. Shouldn’t we be identifying ourselves if using an amateur frequency to transfer data (programming) between two radios?

    • @GadgetTalk4U
      @GadgetTalk4U  3 месяца назад

      That's a good question. I've wondered that, too. Several models allow that feature and I have no idea what frequency they use.

    • @GadgetTalk4U

      Good question. Amateur radio is a hobby that many enjoy. As with most hobbies, the object of the hobby isn't something you need, its something you enjoy. My spouse just got herself a new sewing machine even though there are lots of stores that sell clothes.

    it is a beautiful radio but it has a problem in the Netherlands hot air balloons use 8.33 KhZ and now there is a problem example 122.255 / 122.250 - 8.33 is a problem. when the frequency is entered on grid 8.33 it indicates a problem that already indicates that the correct bandwidth is not correct that means that this walkie-talkie is not the right one which will work well and the modulation will not work correctly because it is next to modulate the frequency and the speech will not be good, but other than that it is a nice cheap walkie-talkie.

    Why do HAMS talk about nonsense things on repeaters? Like airfryers, the weather. They got the license and spent a lot of money on radio gear just to talk about airfryers.
