- This is a quick look over the key features that make me really like this radio. After seeing social media posts about the Quansheng UV-K5 (and the various firmware creations), I finally bought one. For me, this handy-talkie is the most fun.
For a good description of the EGXUMER spectrum features check out this video... • QUANSHENG UV-K5 , K6 ,... Развлечения
I also bought 3 Quansheng radios, due to the really cool firmware mods that are out there. They've got to be selling tens of thousands of these handheld radios simply because of the non-factory firmware. Yaesu, Icom and Kenwood should take note that people ARE interested in radios that can be updated with different firmware, and the hardware sells..... I would love to have a toolkit for some of my Yaesu and Icom radios to make some more custom adjustments that I would like to see. Open source firmware can sell LOTS of hardware.
They dont like, they want to sell radios for 100 usd up ,and they dont do nothing, i also buy 3 quassheng
I bought a couple of them just to play with different firmware's.
Amazing radio, can't wait for it to arrive! Just imagine the price tag if some of the "big" manufacturers came out with a model with all these options.
I know. This radio is a game changer for the HT world.
Since you're interested in SHTF, let me introduce you to the wonderful world of..satcom and all of it's pirates 😸, you can start slow with 255.550mhz (in case you don't know, those are geostationary military sattelites that have no security so russian and brazilian pirates use them as repeaters to talk all over the world), you can use a bnc banana and 2 x 23cm tape measure pieces and making it in to a dipole, happy listening 👍🏻
Great video! Thanks so much for posting!
Thanks for stopping by!
I have a couple of those radios. Those new features look pretty cool.
Great hands-on video, many thanks 📶✅
Really digging that ammo box
this is good
I bought a couple of them just to play with different firmware's, I was surprised to see such low power on 220, I get into our 220 repeater from across town full quiet.
Very nice. Yeah, I am about ready to at least get one more and load the firmware that supports CW. Cool stuff. Thanks for stopping by.
Great little performer, I use it as a scanner and for 2/70 rx tx only. AM airband pretty decent after the new firmware update. 73
Hey man i hope you dont mind me asking a weird question but hows the build quality?
@@PotatoMasterIsaGod actually better than I expected

perfect lighting! What kind of lamps do you use?
Thanks. I use Lowel Tota lights to bring up the overall room lighting level. To create a rim light and/or key light, I use simple and small led light (or two). I think one of the lights was a VidPro led with adjustable color temperature. They go pretty cheap at Amazon. The Lowel Tota lights get really hot, but kicking up the overall room light level helps with the overall image quality in the end. Thanks for noticing!
Thank you for the tip about powering the radio from USB C without a battery. I didn't know it was possible but it does indeed work! (I've found that USB C quick charge and power delivery cables don't work, but standard ones do).
Indeed. I think it is really cool that I can still operate the radio with a simple power bank via USB-C. I just realized that right before I shot the video. 73
Quansheng advise not to power through usb while transmitting as this can damage the radio
@@teslar1 Ahh. Good info! Thanks for letting us know.
Thank you for the video! What antenna are you using on 10 m and CB?
It is basically a long 66 ft wire. You can clip a long wire to the radio antenna and it will improve reception.
With the upgraded firmware how did you program the radio? I can’t use CHRIP with the firmware version I am using.
With the firmware, I was still able to use chirp... and that is what I used. Some features I couldn't make happen, but it was okay. See if you have the latest Chirp version.
Ive found that if the cable isnt working correctly or plugged in the right way, it says firmware not recognised. My wch30 chipset cable is a pain. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. I also have another cheap cable that must have a different chipset and it works flawlessly...chirp recognises the firmware when it connects successfully....
what firmware and version are you using in the video?
EGZUMER ver. 0.22
Where you at in n.c?
Did do you do the chip upgrade?
I have not. I just read about it yesterday and will look into it today. Seem really cool.

Dose any handheld companies make a radio that you don't have to download a bunch of garbage to make it SSB and ham and not making it a big science project just turn it on and go. Thanks for the video
I am not totally sure. I know that one of the high end Icom hts has wideband receive. I think Alinco makes one too, but there are really up there in price.
I feel your pain! Think its just down to more practice and learning?
Can you transmit on the stations you pick up?
You can receive on more stations you can transmit on. There are modifications, however that allow you to transmit on most (if not all) of the receivable frequencies. Not recommended, since this radio is designed and certified for 2M and 440 bands. But just search RUclips and/or Google for "Quanshen UV-5K firmware" and you will see a lot. I hope this helps.
Yep
Thats CB nonsense
