    Sir,
    An outstanding video. The sound of your patches indicates that you have a seasoned ear. Yes it is a practice tool. Thanks

    Have used this MFX unit on stage since almost two years now, and I've got absolutely no problem at all with the pedals ...

    Let me just say this; I played acoustic guitar my whole life and now decided to play electric. I have no ideas about effects and amp models and there are many out there. I would have to spend a fortune to test them to my liking and would end up with many I would not use. This is a great learning tool to get to know them all before buying the actual pedals for each effect. One more thing :) my cheap Strat sounds crap on my practice amp but once plugged into this and then listened to via headphone :)) WOW what a difference!!! I've got to actually play the sounds I dig! Great multi pedal! and it comes with a power supply, the RP 55 doesnt. And yes the tuner is kind of crap but hey I mean they couldnt put all great in it for this money

      ***** Absolutely - for your purposes, something like this is awesome. Once you really get ears on for specific tones, then it might be worth it to upgrade. For the price, though, it's a good way to start exploring different flavors of amps and effects.

    Good review, I love my "cheap little" RP-90. I got mine complete with expression petal for under $50.00 used. I highly recommend picking one up. Its quirky but it generiates great tone.

  • @kcbastards
    @kcbastards  11 лет назад +3

    You're absolutely right. I bought my Yamaha MagicStomp in the same price range (I believe I paid $90 plus tax, but it may have been $99 - not much more expensive for sure), and it has all-metal construction and heavy duty stomp switches. It has its drawbacks as well, but it has a much, much higher build quality than the RP70.

    I like this pedal for small venue set-up. I have 2 different guitar rig set ups. The Rp90 works on the spot in guick use. I have a larger guitar rig that does not included it. This Rp Digitech series may not compete with other units costing more money but its compact sizes packs a punch on small gigs. Also I've had a glass water dropped on it. The next day it was worling like a champ. The unit has a long learning curve for perfect use still worth the money. I've worked with many artist on projects its the guy that's ready to go , ready to start learn the songs in any genre of music that gets the job. If your a hire gun player and this is apart of arsenal. Not a bad start. Be creative!

    03:15 - hocus pocus from 1971 focus album, moving waves.
    great song! :)
    by the way, i use that pedal and find it very versatile, i have on my guitar lollar gold foils pickups ready to play metal hehe, and these are really vintage but what can i say?, simply i love the distortions, and although the rotary effect is not so good in this one, for to practice isn't so bad.

    i have the RP55. not a bad unit for practicing. much much cheaper than buying a stack of pedals, which basically use outdated analog tech anyway. has an input, output & controller at the back. All are standard Audio Jack Plug - 6.35mm (1/4") . 9v dc power input (5.5mm*2.5mm)

    Getting one(used) for 25$. I only need one for reverb and delay and some little effects not much.

  • @kcbastards
    @kcbastards  11 лет назад

    Yeah, and the chorus/delay/reverb are all passable. They're not on par with Yamaha SPX effects or anything, but they're all very workable if you're just experimenting with different effects.

  • @denistaaffe7609
    @denistaaffe7609 10 лет назад +9

    disagree, you can use these on albums no problem,i used an rp-50 for a full album,this has the same dsp chip as the rp-1000. I also played a ton of mom n pop solo coffee shop gigs with one of these it was fine. I think your attitude of it as a toy is what makes you seem to miss the brilliance of this cheap box.whats that in the corner of the video looks like a pod hd500? I use pods but I still sometimes use an rp, especially for $35

    • @kcbastards
      @kcbastards  10 лет назад

      That's a HD400 in the corner - not quite as swank as the HD500. Truth be told, the cab models on the HD400 aren't the greatest, either. Don't get me wrong - if someone is motivated, damn near ANYTHING available nowadays can make a good recording. In fact, I need to get back into making these so I can show how even iPad apps can do a hell of a job nowadays. I've made recordings with Digitech RP200 sounds before. However, my Yamaha DG Stomp, MagicStomp, Vox Tonelab LE, POD HD400, and even Positive Grid BIAS on my iPad can do the basic sounds this thing can without having to fight it as much in the mix later.

      Depending on the other gear you have at your disposal, it's useful for late night practice, writing, or demoing material. If it's the only way you have to direct record into a computer, then A.) I sincerely pity you, but B.) it's better than nothing.

    It honestly doesn't surprise me that some like yourself have had good luck with it on stage - that said, most players I know, including myself, tend not to trust mostly-plastic floorboards because they've had their rig go down in the past or have seen it happen. Personally, I would just feel incredibly insecure about relying on such a lightweight plastic pedal.

    • @kcbastards
      @kcbastards  10 лет назад

      It really depends on what kind of use it will get. It may be better to search Ebay for a used Yamaha DG Stomp or MagicStomp, or look at the moderately priced Vox Tonelab pedals, depending on your needs and how you plan to use it.

    • @slammedsocietys2kp321

      I already got one my problem is my amp needs to be really loud for everyone to hear and when I turn on a crunch its super duper loud and Id like it to be as loud as my amp is set up not what it dang well pleases

    • @kcbastards
      @kcbastards  10 лет назад

      Kris Underwood
      It really depends on your amp setup, but what Jaye did the few times he used it at practice was plug it into his effects return. Of course, he was using the Digitech for his distorted tone. If you're using your amp's crunch tone and using the Digitech just for reverb/chorus/etc. you might just plug the whole thing through the effects loop if your amp has one.
