DJ (Columbus Short), an amazing underground street dancer, hasn't been in college for a day before he's entranced by a lovely co-ed, April (Meagan Good).Working as a gardener to pay the bills, DJ doesn't fit in with the wealthier students around campus, but one thing does catch his attention -- the rival fraternity competitions known as "stepping." With April's help, DJ learns about the legacy and heritage behind the fraternities and decides to join up. For all of the people who don't understand why dj got the best of grant in the dance off have to understand it wasn't about having better dance moves, if you noticed he was mimicking every city dancers style at first, but once he got to grant he wasn't trying to out dance him, he was showing him up in his own city(LA Krump battle dancing) way of dance battling...that's the reason why he was chopping at his neck and banging his fist at his head, basically signaling that he's killing him....it was never about who really danced better..he put grant in his place along with clowning the other dancers...
I never knew this and I watched this movie a lot of times 🤝🏽

When I watched this movie, I was so impressed with the level of acting ability with so many new faces. Clearly these were the actors we will see winning multiple awards! Then what? Either their agent suck or they didn't care for acting. Something went terribly wrong, cause I saw mega star potential!
Megan,Columbus short, Neyo and Lance are all stars. I’m lost. Columbus had to step away due to his personal issues but came back better then ever and still look good.

I watched this movie so many times when I was in 8th grade. I’m 28 now, time flies.
Columbus was the next Denzel & his personal life took over. I just started watching Scandal again, just because there's so much of it I missed.... and once again Columbus (Harrison) is the star, outside of Kerry Washington. I stumbled across another movie of his over the weekend & same thing, stellar performance. He is supposed to be on the level of Michael B Jordan. He definitely doesn't get enough recognition.

Fun fact, Columbus was in "You Got Served" too. He briefly battled Omarion 1-on-1 at the end of the opening scene of that film.
Another fun fact, that one on one battle between O and Columbus wasn’t apart of the script. They just started battling and the director told the camera crew to keep rolling and it made it in the movie.
