What’s the movie Save the Last Dance about?
Discover the story of Sara Johnson (Julia Stiles) whose life is turned upside down the day she has to move to a troubled district of Chicago after the tragic death of her mom in a car accident. She arrives in her new school in an entirely different kind of neighbourhood than the one she used to live in and must now learn to adapt to the place’s culture. Ex-ballerina student, Sara now has to learn hip hop in order to fit in. Luckily, she’ll receive help from Derek (Sean Patrick Thomas), a talented and smart young boy from her school and his sister Chenille (Kerry Washington). Derek and Sara will gradually fall in love but their difference of skin color and social background won’t be well accepted by their peers, requiring them to stay strong and brave in the face of adversity.

What I love about this clip is that it fits so perfectly with her character. They didn't let her come in and just be amazing at it but she approached it like a dancer trying to learn choreography, she watched not only him but the other dancers around her.
Exactly.
I Was About To Write Something Similar...
She Acted Frankly Very Smart.
Yes! I agree! I HATE when a character comes into a situation and asked to participate in something, they're always like "no no I dunno how" then two seconds later, they're doing it as if they've been doing it since coming out of the womb.
@@jennym7465 Yes, this is a kind of Mary Sue thing and I f*cking hate it !
She couldn't dance 🩰 for nothing borrrring 😑
😊😊😊😊
Save the Last Dance captures the flavor of the late 90s/early 2000s perfectly!
True that man
Yessssssssss
Capture how the white hoe snatching the only square black dude who was going somewhere. Why didn’t they have her go for the hood dude
It had all the real music playing compared to now
do you know the name of this type of dance pls?
It's something about the early 2000s...
Music and movies was *GOLD*
For real
Sure was!! Such a great time.
Also TV and video games
I've always said that blacks and whites were getting along just fine and thriving together through the late nineties to the mid-2000s but the government had to stick their nose in where they don't belong
Whats that Song, pleeease
The soundtrack was epic.
Yessssssss
Epic
Soñé?
Just saw it came out in Netflix was just going to say that soundtrack was the ish, that and Charlie's angels
Romeo Must Die, Love & Basketball, and Exit Wounds too, the early 2000s had the soundtrack game on lock!
This movie really epitomized that time. It was pretty well done with two good leads who connected and had chemistry. They each had what the other lacked and needed and I liked that it showed their cultural differences but how they supported each other and were able to bring out the best in each other.
Yes I agree .
do you know the name of this type of dance pls?
Exactly! Very well said!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😊
I love how when he realizes Sarah isn’t the dancer the way she thought she was at least in this type of dance style, he was very gentle and began teaching her.
Man clubs back in the 90s and early 2000s was LEGENDARY!
Derek is really what men should strive to be. Born without privilege didn’t make excuses and achieved wonders with hard work. He also treat his girl like a Queen and doesn’t let anyone tell him who to love and not love.
😂 Julia is sooo adorable and Patrick has so much swag!
Shes a mudshark and he should be in prison
THE SOUNDTRACK TO THIS MOVIE WAS INSAINE! 🙃😉👊
Facts
They got Chaka demus and pliers murder she wrote playing in the background in the beginning
I would like a guy like him ..honest and caring
Black men are everything but honest or caring.
Hope you find that one day 😌 it's difficult to find the right person you just click with and you know it's who your meant to be with.
What I love about this clip is that, earlier in the movie, she said she could dance circles around him. He was like, okay we'll see. Then he ends up dancing circles around her. LOL
But in the end, she blended both their styles into a stellar performance...
😊
I like when their practicing dance in an empty room&she dances in a circle of ballae around him then he shows off a couple of moves back!

Nikki is pissed but she has nobody to blame but herself
Man I'm 90s baby and I fairly remember the early 2000s memories but the music is some I'll never forget. Miss this type of time in life. 💯⏳🏆👌🏿🙌🏿
This movie is in the list of my all time favorites ❤

Aww watching her first try to dance made me feel so nervous for her lol
Her look of confusion is 💀 hilarious 😂
🤣 wow she was a tad bit embarrassing with it but her foot work was pretty good considering the fact that she is in Ballet
so she has to follow steps all the time anyway but it was nice that Derrick was patient enough to teach her how to stay on beat in that moment.
i love Derek's Character so much
Same here

is nobody going to mention what a dope track that is? Da Rockwilder. Doc and Meth are both part of the 90's themselves. That track is fire. Cheesy movie. Dope soundtrack.
Let’s not forget Murder she wrote by Chaka Demus and Pliers
That song was perfect for Nightclubs
I named my son Malakii because of this movie.
Loved this movie i wish they would play it again on TV 😢

My favorite movie ❤️!
One of my best movies
When this came out I had zero interest in watching a “chick flick” but this girl I was trying to get with was into it so of course we went. 😂 It ended up being a lot better than I thought it would be. There were some heavy themes in this movie, and it touched on a few things I never considered before.
You will be surprised. Some of those chick flicks will get your attention depending on the story line.
Shallow Hal is pretty good. Random haha
Same. First love was interracial - white girl and me a black dude. It was the first date. We were together for a while, though
Sean Patrick Thomas was too real for Hollyweird.
Got both soundtrack albums on CD
Excellent lighting design.
I miss the 90s yall !!!!
Me too
This movie is from 2001.
@@vanna_777 I believe the movie was filmed in late 1999/early 2000 so it still had some of that late 90s flavor.
A Very Good Movie. The Actress Julia Stiles was very Talented, shame she is no longer Active in the Industry.
She Was n Is Such A "BABE"
As for The young man who played Derek's role? He was also very Good? Though I do not know His Name.
That Entire Cast was very Exceptional, for the Story of the Film. As I felt it was Produced & Directed, too portray the Story of Thier Lives.
I thoroughly have enjoyed that Movie many, many times!! Since it's release so Long ago. Thank You for the Memory, & the short Clip.

Its interesting how 1930 fashion influenced the early 2000's. Silk scarf, hoop earrings, thin eyebrows
Love this movie
He is so fine 😍😍😍😍
I love this movie was film on the westside and my cousin was in the movie dancing by the stairs
What she doing? Two-stepping??
.
Sure doesn't look like dancing. She's preparing as if she's about to do something big, but if that's dancing, then the planet has been doing it wrong for a very long time.
She is acting.

Those were the golden years and we had NO IDEA…looking back we see how amazing it was
8? Too young to be watching a movie like this.
Yeah cause its too stereotypical
All time fave movie
The simple things matter to me the small things to me
I like Sara And Derek better than Derek And Nikki. Nikki isn t a very good person and she don t deserve Derek. How is she gonna be able to get back together with Derek after she cheated on him
Love the soundtrack
Julia Stiles is so beautiful in this movie!!
I love this movie up until now

Whats the name of this song in the end
Any type of dancer trains in every style; specially a ballet dancer
A real dancer feels the music in their body then expresses it in the movement to the beat. It should be natural. You don't have to think about it. It's the most joyful experience you can have. You either have it or you don't! You don't copy someone else's movement. You go with your flow. This scene was about certain steps, but naturally talented dancers each have their own. The only way to match steps is a different talent where one dancer follows the other dancer with their bodies touching. One leads and one follows. When they "sense" each other it's pure magic. Like in "American Bandstand" from the 60's Dick Clark T.V. show. Now that was dancing..... still is!!
Ilove you sara🥰
