- The twelfth day of my journey around China, where I travel from Shanghai, to Chongqing, Chengdu, Xi'an and Beijing. I visit the Great Wall of China at Badaling on the last day of my trip.

When I studied in Beijing from 2012 to 2015, I went to Mutianyu Great wall for three times. The Great wall used to be the military fortifications invented in China about 1700 years ago. The ones you walked in Beijing is originally built from the year 1368 to 1644. It's really unbelievable when you walked on it. How can ancient labors build these on the ridge of the mountains?

I've watched all your China videos and as your first ones I like that in these you showed the good and the not so good things, like the not enjoyable foods to the crowds to the problems with the trains. In your later videos I've seen so far you tend to skip those parts and these China videos shows warts and all. That's what I find when I travel and it's good that I'm not the only one. Thanks a lot for this experience.

I wonder if that's what I was just looking at a little while ago on the travellight Channel... they hiked with an elderly tour guide and there was not one tourist or other human being around for miles and miles and a lot of the wall was reclaimed by Mother Nature.
@@gardensofthegods the one you were looking at is actually in the province of Hebei. Like 2 hours away from Beijing. I also found out about it tru travellight. My friend and I did that one and stayed with a local family that runs a businesses there. You can find the info in greatwallfresh.com so yeah we had the wall to ourselves. There was no guide available that morning which was actually even better. No one else other than my friend and I. We did 20k :) I will def recommend to visit that part of the
wall, but don't stay with the family. You do not get what you pay for in terms of food and accommodation. I hope this helps.
All the westerners are saying how polluted Beijing is, to me the sky looks nice and blue.

Beijing pollution occurs mostly during the winter when most homes and small businesses are burning coal for heating.
427 CI they also told every Chinese daily meal is dog and cat, actually before 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, American politicians even said only Chinese communist members and their families are allowed drink Coca Cola, many people believes it.

No, I don't. China's drone regulations are still lax. Stay away from sensitive areas like you've stated and airports of course, and don't attract large crowds (when police sees a large crowd, they most likely will come to check what's going on); you'll be ok.

These days you can just spend 100 RMB to take dedicated travel bus to and back from Great Wall.

It's Shuanguan Great Wall, southeast to Badaling Great Wall in the real sense. Shuiguan Great Wall is named after a pass on the Great Wall, called Water Pass. Badaling Great Wall in the real sense is named after Badaling Pass. the two sections are connected and belong to Badaling military defense work. so called Badaling Shuiguan Great Wall. but Badaling Great Wall appears more magnificant. the taxi driver was not happy apparently. in Pass Valley, there are four sections opento visitor. Badaling Great Wall is the farthest one.

I like the way you travel, try to walk more and try to conquer the Great Wall as far as you can, and to experience different aspects of a city other than the attractions only, and of course, with budget under control so you can explore more. I'm also a world traveller, hope one day we can meet at somewhre on the planet.

Hey Eddy, for this video I only used a Canon Powershot G7x. In my more recent videos I've integrated slo-mo and time-lapses taken on my iPhone. Sorry for the delayed reply!

No, but there are some before you enter.
