I think it's safe to say that Johnny Cash would have loved this cover, along with all the other covers that have been done with his music. Johnny Cash was a big fan of covering other peoples music. Let's not forget, at 70 + years of age, he released his last album with his covers of songs by The Beatles, Sting, Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails and others.

If Johnny Cash can do a cover of Nine Inch Nail's "Hurt", then Everlast can definitely cover this! It's a more slower and a little bit more murkier then Cash's original--but I like it...

Everlast Music, I'm old enough to see Johnny Cash singing this when it first came out. While some people that aren't content creators can't appreciate what a collaboration this was, I'll spell it out for them. Someone from Johnny's family had to approve this first & they did--Rosanne Cash, maybe? If it's good enough for them, it's GOOD ENOUGH. Posted this to a new playlist that I started today called "Posthumous Music/Collaborations". God, do I feel old when I see those audience members, lol! I hated cat eye glasses....take care!

Johnny always welcomed new talent. He embraced several songs from other, much more modern artists, on his own last album. I think he would've had fun doing something like this with Everlast. Of course, like everything else he sung, Johnny would've made a better version, made it his own.

For me that's the part that made this cover so great is how far out of left field it came but still turned out so very good.
