  • In this video, Dr. Tokuhara invites you into the operating room in Palm Springs on the very first day with the new Vivity Lens. What happens in laser-assisted cataract surgery?
    The Vivity Lens implant has a novel optical design with two smooth transition elements on the front surface of the IOL that create a continuous extended range of vision rather than separate focal points.
    Dr. Tokuhara is an Ophthalmologist in private practice in Rancho Mirage, California. He specializes in complex cataract surgery.

    I know this video is for cataract surgery, but it seems to be the same procedure for RLE which I'm researching to have done on both eyes after LASIK and then ultimately having t use glasses and contacts again. My question about this procedure is if can be done on an eye that has had INTACS placed? Thank you!

    Will we get Astigmatism correction by using this lens

      In the United States, the Vivity lens currently comes in three toric, or astigmatism correcting powers (DAT315, DAT415, and DAT515).

    Whats the patient feedback on night vision for these lenses?

      We have limited data after one month of use, but our own internal review currently shows no subjective differences compared to standard monofocal lens patients.

    Will the Vivity eventually replace the PanOptic ??

    • @desertvisioncenter
      @desertvisioncenter  3 года назад +1

      Because the Vivity lens has its own strengths and weaknesses and the PanOptix lens has a different set of strengths and weaknesses, neither will replace the other. Ultimately, the visual preferences of the individual patient will determine the best lens platform to use for cataract surgery.

      @@desertvisioncenter What are the separate strengths and weaknesses? I have presbyopia, but no other eye concerns/issues with vision. I would like to see up close and intermediate without glasses, but I currently have pretty perfect distance vision and am concerned about the side effects of PanOptix. I am curious about Vivity. Let me know your thoughts.

      @@TheKezhaya If the goal is to have all three ranges of vision that the PanOptix lens handles (near, intermediate, and distance) then Vivity may not be enough for most patients. The Vivity Lens has excellent extended range of vision from intermediate-to-distance range, but the focus tends to drop off for enough detail at near range. Because of this, many Vivity patients find that they need low power reading glasses to see fine print comfortably up close for prolonged reading. The only way around this range limitation with the Vivity Lens for all three distances would be to do Monovision Vivity.
