My purchase justification: 4 stars on Goodreads, a lot of booktubers I watch recommend it, magic, language and Oxford. The glittery sprayed edges were the icing on the cake. Did I intend to buy it when I went into the shop? Absolutely not. I have already purchased 5 second-hand books in January. It looks like I'm only clearing 1 off my shelf this month. Oops!

After You’d Gone arrived in the post just yesterday! Was that for February bookclub? The last book I bought, ten minutes ago while watching this lovely video, was Columba’s Bones by David Greig! I have the first three in the Darkland Tales series and didn’t even know the fourth had come out! So, thank you for that! Now, I must get on to reading them! Yes, to more of these videos! Especially in Oxford and Cambridge! Wiener dog pillow! 💜
Yes. February’s pick will be After You’d Gone though we won’t discuss it till the first week of March. Hope you enjoy the Grieg. I think I’ll try and do this again in Cambridge (not very many bookshops weirdly) and Oxford.
It depends on which bookshop I'm at if I have intentions. If it's a chain bookstore than I will have intentions since I'm spending more money, but it's a used bookstore than I might browse. The last books I bought were Mad Ship by Robin Hobb, Dance with Dragons by George RR Martin, Nicholas and Alexandra by Richard K. Massie, and The Museum of Abandoned Secrets by Oksana Zabuzhko, translated by Nina Shevchuk-Murray.

I couldn’t even have intentionally shopped on one book-shopping trip so respect for that. Books are just too pretty!!!
What a treat going book shopping with you.I guessed ten books.when is Chris starting his cooking shows again?
They won’t be coming back I don’t think. He doesn’t mind the occasional vlog apppearance but isn’t so keen on hosting a whole video which is completely fair enough.
I bought As Long As The Lemon Tree Grows by Zoulfa Katouh from a charity shop this afternoon. It's one I maintaining year good things about ❤
I’ve heard some incredible things about that book.
My guess was 6 books when you fist asked the question of how many books early in the video. Loved the bit with Chris at the end of the video 😅
Hahaha. You guessed correct. Congrats lol
Yes I think I have that more. I’d rather buy from an indie with intention, then a chain, and mooch around a second hand/charity bookshop.
Secondhand shops are fun to browse in. You never know what you’ll find, so not only is it cheaper, it’s an adventure,
Loved After You'd Gone and at the moment enjoying The Marriage Portrait. Did you give up on the idea of decorating a bedroom with Persephone gray covers? I enjoyed The Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day movie.😊
We have a Persephone themed spare room, it’s more themed around the bookshop though. It’s also not quite finished but when it is… I may just share it.
I love going on reading vacations! I have one in a few weeks :) I'm also traveling this summer and the first part of the trip will be to Bath for a reading vacation :)
I was thinking 15 before you gave choices hahaha! Loved seeing what you picked up. The covers were great too!
Ohhhh I'm going to Cambridge on my trip too but only for such a short time. I'll arrive in the late afternoon to meet up with a friend and leave the next morning to head to Norwich for another friend.
"There's no such thing as book shopping worseness." We need that on a shirt or maybe a wallet haha!
Hahaha imagine if I did a line of t-shirts with my random bookish quotes. Chris thought around 15 so you are not alone, hahaha. Cambridge isn't as boozy as you would expect as I have been discovering, Norwich - booky delight! Bath is utter bookish JOY!
@@SavidgeReads YESSS! Now I'm even more excited. I was in Norwich last year and loved it! I stay with Sarah from Your True Shelf when I go. LOVE hanging out with her :)
Awwww how lovely. She’s ace. I am going to Norwich in March. I need to remember to try and catch up with her!
Happy Burns Night!
And to you!!! I didn’t realise it was such a well timed video. Should have done my Edinburgh vlog really.
My guess was 13 🥳
Hahaha, close to Chris' guess.
makes me feel not so alone for impulsively buying and overpaying for books at the airport the other day.. 😅 I'm usually a bit more intentional with my purchases, but sometimes buying books feels like a form of therapy. looks like you've selected some great choices 💖
The airport bookshops can get you, I have to avoid them now. Hahaha.
Watch my jazz hands wave!!
?!?
@@SavidgeReads when you asked for hands up on how many books you bought
Try looking on the world of books
I’ve had a bumpy relationship with WOB. I’ve ordered three and all of them were described as very good… two were most definitely were not very good or even good.
6-10
Hahaha. You were right, by the end 😉
6-10 books would have been me in that situation 😂
Hahahaha. I was very restrained, ha.
I’m sure there is no such thing as’ it could’ve gone worse ‘with bookshops
Worse would have been not buying any, hahaha.
8 books total???😅
Ooooh…
god i loved edinburgh's bookshops. have to come back at some point and check out the ones you are sharing. but for now i am going to enjoy this video! 🫶
They’re fabulous aren’t they. I’m planning on a trip to Edinburgh every January.
Simon does Scotland! I absolutely love visiting book shops that I might never have the opportunity to visit so thank you and bring it on. Do your trains have a baggage weight limit?🧳We have very strict weight limits here which is frustrating for book lovers. If we overstep the weight limit, we have to pay a lot extra. The only good part is that I can say to friends and family, “Sorry, no souvenirs. It would have exceeded the weight limit.”😄
Ha. Well Simon did Edinburgh. I’m doing a few more places in Scotland in March which I’m really looking forward to. No weight limits on trains here. Just planes. I just took a tiny bag lol.
6-10
Hahaha. You weren’t far wrong from the final number 😉
