  • I am testing out the Sandisk Extreme Pro SD Card Reader in this quick review. I had the original which did a great job. However, due to the job I conveniently lost it so a new one was in order. I decided to give this SanDisk Extreme PRO SD UHS-II USB-C Reader - SDDR-409-G46 compares to the SanDisk SD UHS-I Card Reader - SDDR-C531-GNANN
    To note when picking and SD card reader, you need to test it extensively and trust it wont ruin our data Please keep this in mind.

    Thank you this content is very usefull I have a Window pc with integrated sd reader and a ipad gen 11 (I guess) i am updating my pc to a new one still windows but without micro sd port. I normally read the photos directly from the ram Before copying them to the ssd so i don't make my pc full of something that i may not need. 2 questions:
    -is the usb-c as fast as the one attached to the motherboard of my 4-5 year old window: MSI PS63 Modern 8RC so that I can open it directly?
    -is the Apple usable on windows pc are the non apple readable by the ipad?
    Thanks Again, Max

    Great review. There needs to be some hard fast standards on the card readers. It is impossible to figure out which card reader will actually work these days. Still looking for one that will work on everything.

    Hey i wanted to clear this problem a little bit. The uhs-i can only 95mb/s. The 170mb/s can be only archived by overlocking the transfer of the card. This overclockling can‘t be done by any sd card reader. The USB-A 3.0 reader can overclock the transfer and can archive the 170mb/s. The USB-C reader can‘t do it. But as it‘s say, it can be used to tranfer data from a uhs-ii card with 300mb/s. I hope this help.

    • @NikosRentas
      @NikosRentas  2 года назад +1

      yeah, Sandisk explains it has the proprietary tech on the UHS-I card reader. They set it up to have to buy the card reader for the 170MB/s and then have to buy a new card reader for UHS-II instead of adding the tech in that reader as well. I had made an updated video with the communication I had with them: ruclips.net/video/Ew_r791utfE/видео.html

      Hey, yeah, so I didn't end up doing the test as I found the issue of the Extreme PRO not performing with the 175MB/s card. I looked online for issues and there were lots of complaints and no solutions. The company never got back to me before the 30 Days to return so I didn't see a point on proceeding at all. I was going to order another at a later date just incase I had a dud and never got around to it yet.

      @NikosRentas  3 года назад +1

      You probably have the settings at 4k or above with limited compression. I am not sure how Samsung compresses the files to external cards. But to put into perspective 11 minutes from a canon camera in 4k is 36GB with limited compression. I would check your phone settings and use 1080p or 4k and pick the highest compression. If you can return it get a bigger sized card. I wouldn't buy anything under 128GB with how things are moving on the technology front.
